Mamma’s New Tamron…
…arrived TODAY!!! So, after my third request for a portrait shoot, I decided it was time to order the Tamron 28-55 mm f/2.8.
I literally ordered this lens yesterday (as in Monday), so when I checked my email this morning, I was shocked to see “out for delivery.” So, now that I’ve got it (evidence: images above taken with my 50 mm f/1.8)…it’s time to practice, practice, practice – and I’m pretty sure that Kitty Paw isn’t going to model for long.

Here is one of SOOC shots. By the way, I’m now shooting RAW+JPG (my SOOC shot below is the JPG file, added text, resized for web).
I am working very hard on my exposure and focus – as you can tell…I’m not there yet.  I did try shooting in manual but my focus was off. Here’s the data:
  • Focal Length: 67.0mm
  • Aperture: f/2.8
  • Exposure Time: 1/100
  • ISO equiv: 400
  • Exposure Bias: -2.00 EV (I need to figure this out)
  • Exposure: aperture priority (semi-auto)
  • White Balance: Auto
Now, of course I had to pull this into PSE and apply texture and style. I didn’t pay much attention to how I layered, but I like it and I hope you do too.
Oh, if you haven’t checked out my Inspiration page…I’ve added some new links including Paint the Moon and Four Hens Photography. Both offer some really neat (and free) PSE actions worth checking out. Have a great night!

Update: I figured out the exposure bias – I don’t know how that got screwed up, but I’m back at zero and planning on practicing some more tomorrow. Yippee.
