Mamma’s New Tamron…

May 05, 2010
…arrived TODAY!!! So, after my third request for a portrait shoot, I decided it was time to order the Tamron 28-55 mm f/2.8. I literally ordered this lens yesterday (as in Monday), so when I checked my email this morning, I was shocked to see “out for delivery.” So, now that I’ve got it (evidence: images above taken with my 50 mm f/1.8)…it’s time to practice, practice, practice – and I’m pretty sure that Kitty Paw isn’t going to model for long. Here is one of SOOC shots. She thought it’d be perfect for her Baptism invitations, but didn’t like the shadow or scratch on her face. She thought it might be better in black and white. Either way, I agree – it’s definitely a photo worth saving! My PSE editing steps on this one are pretty typical: Ran Squeaky Clean to clean up the photo.Ran Coffeeshop’s Baby Powder Room on low opacities to give her a soft look and to even out her skin tone. Ran Pioneer Woman’s...

Before & After

Meet Olivia. When I sent out a request for an editing challenge, Olivia’s mom was quick to respond. I then found out that she’s also from North Carolina…and she grew up close to my husband – small world! To be honest, this is actually a great example of a typical mommy shot, but she’s done a few things really well…making it a great candidate for a Before & After.Exposure is looking pretty good Olivia’s expression is priceless.Eyes are in focus!A lot of people ask “how do you decide which photos to process?”  Well, I’m no pro,...
