In a Yellow House Photo Challenge: URBAN
Yesterday, Chelsea at In a Yellow House and I announced that I would be hosting the In a Yellow House Photo Challenge for the month of August. We decided to kick it off this week to allow Chelsea the chance to join her own challenge before going on a vacation to Europe.

There are a lot of photo challenges out there (especially on Tuesdays). This one is meant to be fun and inspiring. If you’d like to get your camera out and take a fresh shot, that’s great…but it isn’t required (we all know how busy life gets…sometimes we’ve gotta go into the archives). Each week, I’ll select a winner (well at least this week…I may decide that the winner each chooses another winner – we’ll see). At the end of August, we’ll have a vote for the best photo of the month and that person will receive some sort of prize that Chelsea will pick up in Europe.

For this week’s challenge I chose URBAN, and I have to admit that I chose the theme rather selfishly because I knew I would be shooting in downtown Durham over the weekend…and I fully expected to have plenty of “urban” shots to contribute. Some of you may live in the country, so I’m looking forward to your interpretation of the theme. Here are a few more of my shots from the Scott Kelby Photo Walk.

Now it’s time for you to link up. The linky will be open until Saturday night at 8:00 pm EST (I’m closing it a day early because I have to fly out Sunday night). Be sure to link directly to your blog post with your In a Yellow House photo challenge entry (not your main blog) and let me know which specific photo (one) within that post is being submitted to the challenge. Please also grab the button below to link back to the challenge and encourage others to join. If you really want to make my day, leave me a comment too!

I really love #1 & 2. You have a great eye at getting interesting composition. I’m a little jealous (in a good way). I’ll enter something later!

I really like that first photo. You really have a great eye for composition :)

Cool shots! Yes, there are so many link-ups and I can’t keep up. LOL!

Great photos as always my friend! Love the architecture angles and blue color in that one building photo —- well done.

Urban is going to be tough for this country girl! :) Maybe I will go to Amherst or Northampton and see what I can do. :)

Very interesting shots. Did I tell you how cool I think this theme is? Great choice. Will be linking up later.

Cool shots!! Love the “urban” stuff, wish I had more places to try it!

Follow Up tp your question… Its not a church, just a gate to the garden at an old row home. I think a photowalk through Charleston would be a fabulous ida.

    great shots

I loooove that 2nd shot! I think I am going to try and take some of Maddie’s 2 year pics in an urban setting- probably the Tobacco District somewhere. So I will be too late for the challenge but I am planning on perusing the entries for some inspiration!

I love the first one. Your reflection in the blue glass makes it very “you watching them watching you.” Cool.
