Scavenger Hunt Sunday
I hate to admit it, but it has been one of those weeks…again. I’m hoping that this weekwill get back to some state of normal. Anyways, I’m really excited to see everyone’s interpretations of the scavenger hunt items and I’m hoping we pick up a few new bloggers along the way.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge.
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest…yep, I’m adding a day) – you can use the new button.
  5. Have fun!
Now for my interpretation of the items this week:

1. Landscape
090910-3 RS
I took this shot the other night, but decided that I would wait and share it for Scavenger Hunt Sunday. This was my favorite sunset shot from that evening.

2. Power Line
Power line
I had much larger ambitions for this item, but time ran out on me this week…so, I snapped this shot on my way to Bella Bridesmaid yesterday. These are power lines at one of the major intersections I cross weekly.

3. Newspaper
Newspaper: Contemplate Your Shot
I wanted to take my newspaper shot in my hotel room the other night. Typically, a USA Today is placed at my hotel room door in the morning. I will typically read through it during breakfast and leave it at the hotel. Well…this week, there was no newspaper at my door. So, as I was checking out, I noticed a stack sitting by the desk and decided to take it home with me. We don’t subscribe to a newspaper at home, so I used the newspaper for my “contemplate your shot” assignment for Faith’s SLR class. I’m pretty sure I get a C for average this week, but I’m hoping that since I’m in town next week, that my shots will improve.

4. Pose
Pose
Speaking of Faith’s SLR Class…one of our assignments was to photograph a baby doll outside at f/5 and f/16. My mom sent me one of my baby dolls from my childhood. I was amazed at it’s near-perfect condition and really enjoyed my mini photo shoot. I apologize again for a pretty lame picture, but I was trying to consider what “poses” I might be setting up if this were a real baby. I later tried to do the ring shot with my baby doll, but it didn’t turn out very good.

5. Hobby
PenPal Hobby
Obviously one of my hobbies is photography. But, another one of my favorite hobbies is post-crossing. I have really enjoyed receiving post cards from around the world. I’ve got a stack of post cards I’ve received in the past week or so that I’ve yet to share with you guys…so, I thought I’d photograph that stack instead. Some of my recent favorites have been from Taiwan and Russia.

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post.  Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight. If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items.
  1. Wish/Dream
  2. Clean
  3. Currency
  4. Pair
  5. Square
Have a great week and happy shooting!

Hi Ashley — I just tried to link up and couldn’t get it to let me choose my thumbnail — I was all excited that I was going to be first on the list, but after trying like 5 times and always getting your blog post thumbnails I had to admit defeat and go to bed. Is there something I am missing?

I love postcards. I find myself collecting them from all over. I love how you can send someone a short and sweet message with a picture.

I have been meaning to do this each week and next week I am definitely doing it! great set of shots on the themes

Love your shots! The postcards are just enthralling to look at, and your power lines are wonderful–they evoke this melancholy 1940s vintage feel almost. I like!

    Hi Ashley,
This is my first time to enter the Scavenger Hunt. I like your interpretations and maybe next time I can stretch my mind a little and come up with some interesting shots.

I really like your post card shot Ashley. The week totally got away from me too. In fact, all but one of my entries are from last night.

Nice job on all your interpretations…It’s amazing how you can still be so inspirational even on the weeks that *you* think you’re having an off week :) I especially like your landscape & postcards! Happy Sunday :)

That landscape picture is gorgeous! I love your power line picture too. Great job.

You shouldn’t apologize, I always love your photos! The sky of your landscape shot is stunning, but your hobby shot is my favorite. I love the composition and how representative it is of your interests.

All of your shots are amazing but the first one takes my breath away!

I really like your landscape shot, but I love the power line one!! That processing just makes it!

A couple weeks ago you asked for ideas on categories for the scavenger hunt and I wrote down a few. As soon as I find the paper I wrote them on, I’ll send on to you.

I am loving your newspaper and hobby shots! Very creative for pose!!!

I came back again to say how much I enjoy doing this scavenger hunt every week, thanks for putting it on! But mostly I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the landscape shot this week. It is so neat to go through and see where everyone lives and how different they all are!

Ashley, I love your landscape shot. The sunset and the curve in the road are perfect. I had so much fun with the powerline shot, and I’m looking forward to playing again, Thanks!

Ashley, thank you so much for that address :)

I just linked up! I love this idea!! Thank you~

Lovely photos… I am so pleased to see someone else likes postcrossing. I discovered it this year and I love it…

Oh that is great. Love the doll. I have written down the subjects the past two weeks with good intentions of participating. Hopefully with summer activities winding down I will have more success!

I just joined that penpal project! Very exciting…

Love your images this go-around especially the Hobby photo. Thanks for hosting the fun! I look forward to seeing everyone’s hunt…always interesting to see different takes on the same theme. Have a good week!

Wow…your doll is in perfect condition!! All of ours have been “beautified” with markers on their faces. :)

I really like your power lines shot – the editing is perfect!

One of these weeks I really AM going to participate…I just need to find/make some time!

    Love your hobby photo!!

Love your landscape & hobby shots! I’m just in the process of loading my photos!

I love your power line shot! And what a great idea for “newspaper”!! :)

Love your photos! I love the scavenger hunt SO much — I have been taking pics, just have to see what fits and will post before Tuesday! Crazy busy weekend. Check my Journey blog for my video of me presenting – I think you will like it. :)

I love Scavenger Hunt sundays! You always have such interesting perspectives and shots for these. I love the way you processed the power line one. But I have to say that the only one I don’t like is the baby doll one LOL and not because it isn’t good but for some reason they totally freak me out LOL. Especially the ones like that, with the eyes that open and close. I know I am weird LOL

    LOVE the hobby choice! Awesome.

    the last is my favourite.

    I love your photos!!

I had so wanted to play along, but just couldn’t find the time to shoot any pics lately. Hopefully, next week! :)

Okay, so honestly I have been running low on time lately, but I really love this challenge. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to enter, but all of these photos are fantastic! Great job Ashley and wow…I would have a hard time choosing from these link ups. I took a look at quite a few of them and they are fabulous, even if I didn’t comment on them. I think this is this challenge is really showing a lot about the photographer. I love it! Great choices Ashley!

What a fantastic landscape! We have the same welcome mat, too. Got it from Target last year during a sale. Woot-woot for sales.

Great entries Ash! Even on your “off” weeks they are great. We should try to get together again for a photo walk/GTG.

I love that you did getting the paper, I did the opposit, getting rid of it.

I still got to link up, WHOOO. Now lets see if I can get them up on time this time.

Incredible shots, as usual! I think my favorite in this post is the first one.. it’s gorgeous!

I found your blog while searching for photography challenges this evening. I am really excited about Scavenger Hunt Sunday and look forward to linking up this coming Sunday. I am a new follower as well
    Blessings
