Scavenger Hunt Sunday
I can’t believe it’s already October…this year is really flying by…but Fall is my favorite season, so I’m glad that it’s finally here. This weekend (unlike previous weekends) has been rather lazy, although this afternoon I will be meeting up with a couple of our friends for an Engagement Session (wish me luck). With all that said, I’m really excited to see everyone’s interpretations of the scavenger hunt items this week and I’m hoping we pick up a few new bloggers along the way.
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge.
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Have fun!
Before we get started, I wanted to let everyone know (if you didn’t know already) that the October Photo Hunt list has been posted. Because I know how time consuming the Photo Hunt can be, I will select at least two items from the list each week as part of our Scavenger Hunt Sunday. So…if you’re interested, click on the link below to sign up.
Now for my interpretation of the items this week:

1. Golden
Golden RS
This is actually a photo from last year’s archives – one of the first photos I took with my DSLR. I pass these old farm houses/storage sheds every day on my way home from work. There is something romantic about them that I love…especially when the sun hits them just right. I decided to re-edit them with a golden glow.

2. Smell
Smell RS
I think I’ve mentioned before that I have no idea what I’m going to shoot when I assign the scavenger hunt items this week…so “smell” could have been quite difficult for you (I know it was for me). There were so many times that I wanted to photograph Kitty Paw tilting up her head to get a wiff of whatever we were having for dinner, but there is no way I would have ever been able to get my camera fast enough. So, I thought I’d photograph one of my bottles of perfume. Each year for Christmas, my husband buys me a new bottle of perfume – this was last year’s gift and I love it!

3. Fruit
Bananas RS
I grew up on Banana with mayonnaise sandwiches (and of course, a glass of milk). I’ve recently learned that everyone else thinks this combination is disgusting. Nonetheless, the label says “Brain Fuel,” so it must be good for you.

4. Simple
Simple Spoon RS
I realized after I took this shot that I could go ahead and mark one of the October 2010 Photo Hunt items off the list – Something from the Kitchen. Actually, I just liked the simplicity of one of our spoons on a white background. If you look closely, you can also see me.

5. Sports
IMG_6868 RS
Just before my husband left for the football game, I had him walk outside to show off his shirt to represent “sports.” He said he felt like it was the first day of school all over again…and wanted me to “hurry up,” so no one would catch him looking like a goof. Unfortunately, the lighting was a little harsh and he was in a hurry, so this is the best I could get…and NC State lost.

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post.  Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST).

Before I give you your items for next week, I should point out that I screwed up the POTW order (if you don’t know what this is…don’t worry about it) and gave you miniature ahead of golden. I just wanted to admit my faults and move on. Now that that’s off my chest…if you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items:

  1. Pink
  2. Books (October 2010 item)
  3. Fall Colors (October 2010 item)
  4. Leaf
  5. Orange
Have a great week and happy shooting!

Banana and MAYO sandwiches! Ewwwww!! ;D Ok, admittedly, I’ve never tried it…but, MAYO??! Peanut butter and banana, I understand…but MAYO?! I’m a little freaked, here… ;D Love the addition of the sticker…nice touch!

Fantastic shots! It’s a toss up for me between golden & smell! Ok….I’m curious about that sandwich…..

Great Shots…I think my fav for this week is ummmmmm…can’t really make up my mind….okay..Golden

Love the photos, and yes, smell was difficult for me too and was the one that ended up making me go down the route I did! Love banana sandwiches too (and cucumber ones too especially as a wee girl), and thought your pictures were all great captures, including the one at the end which also depicts a more literal capture in your lovely husband :-) He is lucky to have captured your heart too – aw shucks “I can hear you say that and laugh at the same time”!!!

Gorgeous photos! The first one is my favourite!

Banana and Mayo Sandwiches sounds like something I would have eaten when pregnant! I ate chocolate and honey mustard sandwiches anyway…

It was hard for me to take one for sport as we’re not really a sport playing/watching sort of family! But I had a great time flexing those photo muscles!

    Thanks for hosting!

I grew up on banana/mayo sandwiches too! (and occasionally added peanut butter)
Wonderful photos as always and love your husband’s shirt!

Banana and mayo? That truly is disgusting! Wonderful photos though, I love the simple photo, and the golden too. I didn’t get round to participating this week, but I’ve signed myself up for the October photo hunt! I hope I get it done!

Great shots! I think ‘smell’ is my favourite :)
I was grossed out by the banana and mayo….but then I read the comment about the chocolate and honey mustard, lol

Banana and mayo is disgusting – my childhood favourite was cheese and nutella, so I can’t really talk though! Enjoyed participating this week.

Great photos! I love your fruit and simple shots. What do you use for your white background?

Really love your smell and simple, they are amazing! And as for bananas and mayo, OMG how gross!

Okay, when I read banana and mayo sandwich, I thought “Gross!” But I eat hunks of cheese with BBQ sauce, which some people think is weird…
    Nice photos! :)

My grandma used to make banana and mayo sandwiches in the summer; it was the alternative to tomato and mayo sandwiches.
I love the farm houses. Looks so peaceful.

Your shots look great.. I just love the photo of the old Farm houses, but of course all your photos are wonderful… Hope you have a happy day… ~Linda

These are awesome, Ashley! I really like them all. They are all well thought out and executed well.

No way!! You like Banana and Mayo sandwiches too? I knew I like you ;) Must be a NC thing.. I used to eat them all the time growing up.. yummo!!! Loving the NC state shirt too! Feels like home when I read your blog! Happy Sunday friend!!

I didn’t realize you were in NC! So are we :) The golden shot is just golden! Thanks for hosting and I’ve enjoyed snapping and joining. Have a great Sunday!

My family grew up eating banana + mayo sandwiches! I thought we were the only family on the planet! And your spoon shot was my fav this week!

Great selections this week! Love those banana sandwiches!! I like the way you portrayed SMELL!

Such great shots! I tried to join in today but couldn’t make it, so I came here to admire the submissions :-)

    Ashley,
Your Golden Farmstead is so perfect for this time of year!

Fab shots as always! And yes, banana and mayo sandwiches sound incredibly gross! lol :)

Your husband sounds just like mine! I will never learn to take good portraits because he won’t pose for me more than a minute or two at a time…and his face always shows that he is “posing” and not loving it! :)

Love your simple shot, especially that it has the reflection in it!

LOL looks like your banana mayo mixture is getting quite the response! I’m not willing to try one but I get the whole strange food combo thing based on some of the weird stuff our family eats.

    Love your golden shot.

And I went totally the WRONG way with “simple” Oops!

Hello Ashley, I linked in a hurry this morning, I have come back to comment, love the spoon shot and you definitely smell gorgeous girlfriend!

    Have a brilliant week. xxx

I think I’ll be settled in enough to join in next Sunday, and it even begins with one of my fave colors, pink! I should have my books unpacked sometime this week.

Ashley I adore all these photos especially the first one. Are those tobacco barns? I grew up on Banana with mayonnaise sandwiches too, and don’t think it’s disgusting at all. And your photo is sending me straight to the store today for the fixins to have some. Due to the gluten in bread, I have mine on rice cakes, plus I add a little peanut butter! Yummy!!

These are all great shots Ashley. I think I especially love the spoon.
    Have a wonderful day!

Fabulous shots! Love that one of the bananas! :) Have a great Sunday!

Bananas and mayo… really? I’ve only recently gotten used to bananas and peanut butter (I know, I know!), but I’m not sure about bananas and mayo.

Love your Smell and Simple pictures!!

Great shots. It looks like we had similar interpretations of a couple ones :)

    Beautfiul shots !
    Ok I try newt week ! :)

oh that spoon is so wonderful! love all these shots

I really like your Golden shot. I can see why you like those buildings so much.

I wandered on over from pastor girls ponderings and i just have to say how fun this challenge you got going is! I dont know how much time I would find to participate but I would like to try sometimes =] what a great idea!

    Hey Ashley-
Enjoying the scavenger hunt. Love to see what you capture as well. My fave is simple…the spoon so stark and alone on that background. Simple and elegant.
I too had a hard time with smell…but find it funny you did. I had an inkling you’d choose perfume, and was not surprised when I saw it. I kept thinking of unpleasant smells, but wanted to do something nice.
Thanks for the tip on the Oct search. I think I’ll give it a go.
    Happy day to you.
    Susan

LOVE the reflection in the spoon!

Love your fruit and simple shots!

Hey, all! Bananas and mayo aren’t bad at all. Y’all should try it!

I love all of these, my favorite is the scent one lol it did not even cross my mind to do a picture of perfume!

I love your shots and the processing, they are always inspiring me to take better shots. Can’t wait for next week.

Yes, the perfume is so different from any of the other smells I’ve seen today! Okay, bananas and Mayo? Hmmm…

Love these shots, golden is amazing! I also love love fruit but it did make me throw up in my mouth a bit :) LOL

These are all wonderful! The first one has to be my favorite, though. I agree, there’s just something romantic and intriguing about those old buildings. I’d love to see them everyday on my way home from work.

Tell your husband he doesn’t look like a goof – and how nice that he’s so cooperative!

i like the banana… and smell is beautiful

I can’t knock banana and mayo, since 1. I think mayo tastes great on a lot things and
    2. I haven’t tried it. But I have to say, it’s certainly a combination I never thought of!

i love the shed shot! cant imagine being a fan of mayo with bananas -but i love peanut butter and pickles so i cant say yuck to your combination!!

love all the pictures as always. I will have to join in on this scavenger hunt soon. Good thing with all these challenges you can jump in at any time and really should not feel like you are behind or missing out. I am still since i am some what new to all this is to find an easy edit method.

i grew up on peanutbutter and bannana sandwiches as well.

my dad got us into fried egg and mayo sandwiches.

    happy Sunday to ya.

Goodness, as always, your photos are AMAZING!!! I’m glad I got to participate this week, even though it was last minute!

You are too funny with your sandwich! I can’t pick a favorite but I love that I can see you reflected in the spoon!

    Great shots! Love the reflection
    in the spoon.

    Great shots! Love the reflection
    in the spoon.

Hey thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog, and leave a comment, AND start following my blog! I’ll be following yours as well very soon. Just as soon as I finish writing this :) I look forward to getting to know you!

the one of the spoon is great! i love to be able to see your reflection :)
hope you had a great weekend!

Girl all of those images are fabulous! i especially love the barn & banana ones :) hope you are having a relaxing sunday!

Each and every click is magnificent and beautiful…

Love that Dior Cherie shot. So simple and elegant.

I love your golden shot. Makes me sentimental about the farm I grew up on!

Thank you for the sweet comment you left back on my blog! It means a lot! Ive added you to my blogroll and I can’t wait to start getting involved in your photo challenge!

    =]

The barn picture is beautiful and I instantly saw you I the spoon. Very cool!

    I LOVE the golden photo!

Aren’t the hubbys the hardest to take pics of??? I too have to convince my husband to stay still long enough to get a shot. They always have somewhere else to be other than in front of the camera!

Love the barn pic…very nice edit!

Oh, how come you changed your header pic? I mean, nothing wrong with kitty, looks like she is trying to say something…I just noticed it now.

I noticed here that you said you like old farm houses/stg sheds… might that include old barns, too?
If you like photographing old barns, come join my new Tuesday meme opening Monday evenings called ‘Old Barns’. I’d love for you to join!

Love your “simple”. Simple subject with a simple background and simple composition. Amen sister!

I love the simple spoon and the photo of the sheds, really great editing on that one!

I enjoy banana and peanut butter sandwiches, but not sure I would like bananas with mayo. However, a little boy where I used to work used to bring peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, which I thought was quite weird. Then this past January, when we were learning the letter P, I actually tried said sandwich. I actually enjoyed it (the kids, not so much).
Thanks for your kind words on my blog. I love your photography skills. Thanks for hosting this challenge.

Hmmm… I think I can almost “smell” those yummy looking bananas. (But I’m not sure about the mayonnaise!)

ps. I love your new header!! Kitty Paw has such personality showing in that photo!!

I love the “Golden” photo. And ONLY if it’s Duke’s mayo!

Hi Ashley…This is my first time on the scavenger hunt and must say i thoroughly enjoyed doing it.
Look fwd to next week now…your pictures are amazing

Finally got around to posting my photos! LOVE yours… or did I already comment on that? :) I have Aperture on my Mac and really am thinking I want to start using it, just need to find the time to learn. Hope you like my selections. I love my Oakley shot and the girls are just gorgeous. :) LOVE your spoon shot. We leave for Chicago for the marathon on Friday — hope to get some good pics there too! Cheers my friend!

Banana and… mayo?? Alrighty then. ;) That’s a little different. Cool shot, though.

I love your “Simple” shot, too.

    Wonderful shots this week Ashley!

I think smell was the easiest for me because of my subject! The hardest one for me was Golden and I really lucked into that shot.

Thanks for being the hostess with the mostess!

Great pictures! I was all set to participate but I couldn’t figure out how to load the photos on my Ipad! I love the first one the best it is just really cool to me, I love the way you edited it.
