Autumn Promises
Today’s photo seems to be a reflection of how I feel today – quiet, calm, waiting, reflecting… It was taken on a beautiful Sunday afternoon two weeks ago. However, our days seem to be getting shorter and shorter, and I now feel Autumn drifting slowly away. Where has 2010 gone…what is in store for 2011? To be honest with you, I feel as though my year has moved too quickly and I’m not quite ready to let go of it, but I also know that 2011 is full of promise and opportunity. With that said, I am in the process of working on something that will be posted on Friday…it will be a time to remember and reflect on days past…and dream of the future. Have a wonderful day!

Oh, this poem is so beautiful! I especially like the last verse, which is so true. Fall does lie about winter’s cold, no matter how nippy the afternoons are. The picture is a perfect fit for the poem as well, I love how you can see just a hint of silver on the leaves, like the hint of winter that is to come.

I love the simplicity of this shot and the muted colours make it even more autumnal. I am looking forward to seeing what you post on friday!

This is gorgeous! Can’t wait for Friday!

Such a beautiful and simple shot Ashley. Love it!

I also am left wondering where 2010 has went. It was a big year for us. We lost family members, gained family members, bought our first home, and moved to a new community.

I am also amazed how fast it all went.

I’m left wondering what’s in store for us in 2011.

    Lovely!

I agree!! 2010 has flown by! But it was filled with so many great things, I rediscovered “blogging”, I found a new passion in photography, I made some great friends (like you) online…seriously! 2011 is going to have some big shoes to fill to top the awesomeness that is 2010!

beautiful capture. My year has seemed to have flown by too. So fast it seems like a blur.

awesome post. Have a great rest of the week.

    beautiful capture and poem.

Love this shot and the poem. Lovely.

G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S I always love your photos. this is yet another wonderful one.

    Love this! So tranquil!

Autumn is gone so gone here.It is snowing and it is cold. I just keep up fire in fireplace and don’t want to go out before April.
Have a nice week I wait your Friday post

Gorgeous! I love the simplicity of the shot and the subtle colors.

This is gorgeous and the poem you chose is perfect for it.

I can’t believe we’re about to turn over to a new year. This year has gone by incredibly fast, but I’m looking forward to what 2011 brings.

Hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving week.

I feel the same about this year. Where has it gone? I love the words of promise and opportunity for 2011 – so much potential. I appreciate the simplicity of your photo. Have a beautiful day!

This is beatiful! LOVE your creativity. I can always expect new things on your blog…and I love that. Happy Tuesday! :-)

Beautiful! It would look fantastic as a print! I too, see opportunity in 2011, I can’t wait to see what it brings!

    Just beautiful! As always!

B.E.A.UTIFUL! Love the poem you added with it. My goodness, Mrs. Ashley, YOU’VE BEEN GIFTED WITH THE EYE TO CREATE!

I never get tired of seeing your pictures! You are amazing!!!

Love it… thank you for sharing

Fabulous image ~ brilliant poem ~ clever composition of the two! :D

Autumn is all but over here ~ we’re down to minus temperatures this week with snow predicted for the end of it. I guess that’ll be winter then!! I too feel like the year has zoomed away ~ this time last year I was dreaming I’d have saved for my DSLR by Christmas this year ~ and then I got pregnant and well, not a penny saved, let’s just say that! Strange to think though that before this year is fully out I will have another baby in my arms ~ something that truly wasn’t in my plans for 2010! Somehow though, I like that life doesn’t always go according to MY plans :) Curious about your Friday post…

BTW ~ love your iheartfaces entry this week too!

Beautiful pic & poem! Where did this year go?? Looking forward to your friday post!

I love the simplicity of your shot! And I’m looking forward to Friday to see what you’ve been working on!

this is gorgeous. one of my favorites of your photos yet.

This makes my heart sing, Ashley! I just LOVE it so much.

Great shot, I love the tones, they are so peaceful and calming.
And I know, doesn’t it feel like fall just started, and now its almost gone. This year has passed in a blink!

    Beautiful!

    So pretty! I love it!

That’s lovely Ashley – with being a gardener grasses are so apt for an autumnal poem. I think here in Scotland the winter cold arrives tomorrow and Thursday – even the weathermen have been putting out the warnings.

I think this last year has flown by fast aswell.

    So lovely.

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    lisa.

    the words are beautiful!
    I love your photo edit:)

the year 2010 went to quickly for me as well, only few weeks left, where is all that time gone…

love your post today and the lovely photo!!! Hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving with lots and lot’s of pie!!!

I so love your macro shots. SOOO much has gone on for me this year. It seems to have flown by, but at the same time, it seems to have gone on forever. Weird, huh?

great thoughts :) love that poem.

Oh this is beautiful!! I completely feel the same as you… My husband and I were just talking about this other day: Where DID 2010 go? I am excited to see what 2011 might bring though :)

This is so very peaceful! I love that you’ve made the text so subtle and quiet…almost like a whisper.

    Gorgeous photo, love the simplicity.

Have a great Thanksgiving!!!! This year has zoomed by – that is – until I start clicking through my archives and realize that we have enjoyed it to the max!!! Thank goodness for blogging :D Can’t wait till friday….hmmmmmm……

What a lovely and oh so true poem. Having a couple of back to back dreary gray days here….but it’s not snow.
You image is stunning. I love the light coming off the narrow leaves.

Beautiful poem Ashley, I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us Friday!

Love this photo. And the poem.

Ashley that is so beautiful! I’ll be offline until next Monday. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. Looking forward to what you’re sharing on Friday when I return. ♥

    So nice.

    Really subtle and lovely!

Ashley, I really like this so simple and beautiful!

Wow, what a beautiful poem and photo! They are both so perfect for each other! I can’t wait to see what you have been working on!

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I too love the simplicity of this shot and combined with the poem it looks like it should be a card or wall art!!!

So simple and so beautiful. Nicely composed.

    Beautiful! Simple and stunning!

It’s sad, warm, simple and toutching. Beautiful. You did it great.

Really sweet Ash! Can’t believe this year is almost over. So glad I got a chance to meet you! Happy Thanksgiving! xo

    Beautiful capture.

I can’t believe that fall is in full swing. There is a tree with red leaves in my neighbor’s yard that is next to a deep green tree. I’ve admired it and intended to photograph the two contrasting colors but this morning, the red leaves had fallen. Next year, I will remember to grab a photo.

Love the poem and the picture. Beautiful. As for the location of my picture. It was actually downtown Raleigh. Have a happy Thanksgiving!!

    Very pretty. Happy Thanksgiving, Ashley.
