I absolutely love a good photo hunt and for the past month, I have carried a list of items around with me to photograph…all for the sake of the November 2010 Photo Hunt. I’ve shared many of these photos on my blog before, but I did want to save a few surprises. Without further discussion, here are my items:
1. Home Sweet Home
This is obviously not my home, but at one point…it was home to somebody. I passed this torn down home a few times and finally decided to stop and photograph it. I then thought I’d try a little HDR processing. I tried one version in which I tried blending three different exposures – let’s just say I thought it looked like poo. This is my second attempt in which I used a variety of techniques to achieve a glow effect. Part of me really likes it, the other part thinks I should have stuck with a traditional edit. Thoughts?
2. Thankful
I shared this photo once before, but I really love the message with the photo…so I thought I’d share it again.
3. Family
Believe it or not, I did not take any family photos over Thanksgiving (and I thought I’d give Kitty Paw a break). I did receive a “thank you” in the form of this adorable Snow Couple ornament with our names on it. I couldn’t wait to put it on our tree. Thanks Karen!

4. I Ate This – Thanksgiving Edition
It’s funny that neither one of our families prepared a pumpkin or sweet potato pie during Thanksgiving. Had it not been for Caroline’s homemade pumpkin pie…I might not have eaten any at all. Not that the Hawaiian cake, chocolate pie or carrot cakes weren’t delicious…but this pumpkin pie was sooooo yummy. My husband and I ate off it for days.
5. A Turkey
Cooking a turkey in a crock pot might be my new favorite way to eat turkey! This is Myron carving the turkey during our Thanksgiving Extravaganza. It was so moist and tender. YUM!
6. Something Handmade
I am really loving the “S” wreath that my mom and I made at the beginning of November. It was such a simple project and is such a unique way to dress up our door during the holidays. I like it so much, I might leave it up all year. Hmmmm….
7. Something Hot
This particular shot became quite popular when I first shared it a couple of weeks ago during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. My husband loves all types of hot sauce…the spicier the better. I will definitely have this print in my new etsy shop for purchase…coming soon!
8. Something Cold
I really thought that the above shot was a failure. It’s not really that cold here in North Carolina yet (even though you wouldn’t know it considering I’ve been wearing scarves to work in an effort to pretend it’s much cooler). So, I thought I’d try to capture the frost in our freezer. I guess it does look kinda cool.
9. Something Orange
I’ve been saving this shot all month. On my way home from work one day, the sun was amazing. I’ve shared a few of those shots already, but this one really captures that orange glow. I haven’t captured another sunset like it since!

10. Anything Goes

I mentioned that I briefly taught my niece how to use Photoshop Elements. Perhaps it’s a good thing she doesn’t spend more time with me (not that I don’t want to spend more time with her). I’m just saying…if she only knew how, she might be the youngest new blogger to hit the internet.
So, those are my interpretations for November’s Photo Hunt. If you want to see more, CLICK HERE! If you didn’t participate this past month, but want to participate…December will also have ten items. I will continue to build these prompts into my weekly Scavenger Hunt Sunday (along with participant suggestions). I’d love to have you participate in either challenge.
