There are exactly six days until Christmas. Are you ready? Yes? No? Either way, it’s Scavenger Hunt Sunday and I’m really excited to share my interpretations this week. If you’ve been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week’s items inspired you too. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by The Paper Mama, the December 2010 Photo Hunt and Life at 5 Feet. Next week will also be the last Scavenger Hunt of the year, so now is as good a time as any to jump in. I’m really hoping we’ll hit 100 participants this week…we’re so close.
- Anyone can participate.
- You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge.
- If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
- Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
- Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:
1. Winter
You’ve heard me say on more than one occasion that North Carolina rarely gets snow. I’m afraid I can no longer say that. This month has now produced three “snow falls.” The first one was really pretty. It fell on a Saturday, stuck to the grass-not the roads and melted the following day. The second one occurred this past Thursday. It was not so pretty…mostly slush. Tonight (Saturday), as I’m writing this post, we’re getting our third snow fall. I guess I’ll find out in the morning how much damage it’s done. Anyways, the shot above was taken on Thursday morning before all the slush disappeared. There’s nothing pretty about a North Carolina winter. Everything is just cold and wet. Yuck!
2. Black and White with Selective Coloring
If I’m completely honest, I’m not the biggest fan of selective color. So whenever this prompt comes up on a list, I do my best to create an image I can be proud of. With this shot, I wanted everything to be desaturated with the exception of the “flame.” I really like the way this shot turned out.
3. The Wind
Wednesday was incredibly windy…although I’m not sure that you can tell by this shot. Yes, the sky was this blue.
4. Framed
I’m hoping I’ll see at least one shot of someone holding a frame for this particular item. In fact, I really love that antique looking frames are being used as props. I thought I’d recreate that look with Mr. Flick. Just imagine that he’s yelling, “I swear…I didn’t do it…I’ve been framed! It was Kitty Paw!” Oh Mr. Flick, you’re so funny…we’re going to have so much fun together.
5. Remember When…
Remember when cleaning was fun? Remember when you could throw on your tutu and a crown…and then vacuum to your heart’s content? This picture literally cracks me up. What makes it even funnier is that we asked my in-laws for a new vacuum cleaner. My mother-in-law asked me a few weeks ago if we wanted one that could be used on hard wood floors. I told her I was the wrong person to ask since it was my husband that would be using it. Seriously, he cooks and he cleans! And yes, he’s available on loan. Just kidding.
What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items:

- Pretty Package (Kelly’s Suggestion)
- Glow (Kelly’s Suggestion)
- Sparkle (Kelly’s Suggestion)
Again, thank you Chelsey and Kelly for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just leave me a comment or send me an email with your suggestions. Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap (I’m trying to link up with the Paper Mama and/or Paper Heart Camera, and the December Photo Hunt), and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday.
Next week will be our last Scavenger Hunt of 2010. For next week’s list, I will leave the linky open all week long (I thought with the holiday, that everyone would enjoy a few extra days to link up). On January 2nd, I will open the linky for Memories Dreams and Reflections. If you haven’t done so already, don’t forget to sign up for this year’s newest end-of-year link-up party: Memories, Dreams and Reflections! Click on the button below for more information. So, off you go…happy shooting!
