Scavenger Hunt Sunday
There are exactly six days until Christmas. Are you ready? Yes? No? Either way, it’s Scavenger Hunt Sunday and I’m really excited to share my interpretations this week. If you’ve been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week’s items inspired you too. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by The Paper Mama, the December 2010 Photo Hunt and Life at 5 Feet. Next week will also be the last Scavenger Hunt of the year, so now is as good a time as any to jump in. I’m really hoping we’ll hit 100 participants this week…we’re so close.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge.
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Winter
IMG_0211 RS
You’ve heard me say on more than one occasion that North Carolina rarely gets snow. I’m afraid I can no longer say that. This month has now produced three “snow falls.” The first one was really pretty. It fell on a Saturday, stuck to the grass-not the roads and melted the following day. The second one occurred this past Thursday. It was not so pretty…mostly slush. Tonight (Saturday), as I’m writing this post, we’re getting our third snow fall. I guess I’ll find out in the morning how much damage it’s done. Anyways, the shot above was taken on Thursday morning before all the slush disappeared. There’s nothing pretty about a North Carolina winter. Everything is just cold and wet. Yuck!

2. Black and White with Selective Coloring
Burning Candle RS
If I’m completely honest, I’m not the biggest fan of selective color. So whenever this prompt comes up on a list, I do my best to create an image I can be proud of. With this shot, I wanted everything to be desaturated with the exception of the “flame.” I really like the way this shot turned out.

3. The Wind
The Wind RS
Wednesday was incredibly windy…although I’m not sure that you can tell by this shot. Yes, the sky was this blue.

4. Framed
Framed RS
I’m hoping I’ll see at least one shot of someone holding a frame for this particular item. In fact, I really love that antique looking frames are being used as props. I thought I’d recreate that look with Mr. Flick. Just imagine that he’s yelling, “I swear…I didn’t do it…I’ve been framed! It was Kitty Paw!” Oh Mr. Flick, you’re so funny…we’re going to have so much fun together.

5. Remember When…
Cleaning Ash RS
Remember when cleaning was fun? Remember when you could throw on your tutu and a crown…and then vacuum to your heart’s content? This picture literally cracks me up. What makes it even funnier is that we asked my in-laws for a new vacuum cleaner. My mother-in-law asked me a few weeks ago if we wanted one that could be used on hard wood floors. I told her I was the wrong person to ask since it was my husband that would be using it. Seriously, he cooks and he cleans! And yes, he’s available on loan. Just kidding.

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post.  Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items:
  1. Family (next week’s Paper Mama theme)
  2. Motion Blur (December 2010 Photo Hunt Item)
  3. Pretty Package (Kelly’s Suggestion)
  4. Glow (Kelly’s Suggestion)
  5. Sparkle (Kelly’s Suggestion)
Again, thank you Chelsey and Kelly for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just leave me a comment or send me an email with your suggestions. Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap (I’m trying to link up with  the Paper Mama and/or Paper Heart Camera, and the December Photo Hunt), and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday.
The Paper Mama
Next week will be our last Scavenger Hunt of 2010. For next week’s list, I will leave the linky open all week long (I thought with the holiday, that everyone would enjoy a few extra days to link up). On January 2nd, I will open the linky for Memories Dreams and Reflections. If you haven’t done so already, don’t forget to sign up for this year’s newest end-of-year link-up party: Memories, Dreams and Reflections! Click on the button below for more information.  So, off you go…happy shooting!
Memories, Dreams and Reflections

Tried my best to gets photos of our “snow” earlier this week, but it just wasn’t happening. LOVE yours…and that little Ashley always makes me smile!

    Happy Sunday, friend!

I absolutely LOVE your selective color. The texture, the perfect amount of color; it’s just fantastic.

Per usual I thoroughly enjoyed checking in, appreciating your work and have had fun participating! The framed is probably my favorite because how can that cutie not be and it’s just my sense of humor as well. The Remember when is just too much! SO CUTE and I’m laughing b/c I had the same nightgown :D Love it!

LOVE your images this week! Vacuuming still sucks for me, LOL.

Yucky winter or not, your winter shot is just lovely! You look so cute all decked out to do a little vacuuming… Precious! =)

These are fabulous Ashley – your selective colouring is so good. I’m no fan of that selective colouring either and that little leaf is lovely perched on top of the grass.

I don’t like hoovering nowadays but years ago my youngest when he was in the womb must have heard it all the time as when he was born the only thing that would put him to sleep was turning the hoover on beside the pram LOL.

Oh and THANK YOU for the shout out on this post! I just saw my header and had to double take :) You are very kind!! XO, Kelly

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your selective color shot!!! Seriously, it actually looks like a real flame. I am on my way out the door for vacation so I didn’t get to play this week, but I love the ideas for next week so I will definately be participating then!

I love your framed photo and your black and white with selective color. I was really hoping to get a framed shot like you talked about when I suggested it. It was just way too cold this week. Maybe try again next spring/summer. :D Great photos as always.

Cute little cleaning girl! Love your selective color and Winter.

I like your light bulb shot best. It was a great choice for the selective coloring!

Oh, that winter picture is so beautiful!!!

Fun! Hopefully I’ll be able to participate this week! The topics probably aren’t going to be quite so hard to find (last week’s Wind absolutely stumped me. We have had just about zero wind (very unusual).). Thanks for hosting this!

    Hi Ashley,
I had fun hunting agian this week!

Your B&W shot is wonderful.. It look so cool with that flame.

Hope you’re having a happy day!
    Hugs, Linda

    Hugs, Linda

great shots. LOVE your winter and soo cute “remember”

Wonderful photos for this week. I love your creating with textures.

I really like BW it is so simple, again less is more:) Remember is so CUTE, you are so lovely. It is hard to believe that you husband is doing the cleaning if you have been that hardworking in your early days. Maybe I should buy a tutu and cleaning would be fun.

That B&W of yours really is cool! I would have never thought of that. The winter is pretty too. Boy am I a lucky girl to also have a hubby that cooks & cleans! Thanks for a fun Hunt and for using my suggestion. :-)

Great images – the selective colour works so well and I love the framed one!

Very awesome pictures. I’m like you, I’m not a big fan of selective color either. But I really like what you did with that photo! Nice work finding a unique way to process it!
I’ve had a busy week, hoping to join back in next week! :)

WOW I love all your interpretations! The light bulb is so cool and that blue sky!! Oh and I love Flick.. so cute! I’m loving your new camera.

Great interpretations this week Ashley. Wind is beautiful…but wasn’t that hard? Your remember shot is fun, but I never remember a time when vacuuming was fun.

These are all super Ashley. My fave is your B&W with selective coloring. That’s awesome!! I also adore the Remember When shot! That is adorable!! I’ll be away for Christmas and into the New Year. So I wish you and yours the Merriest Christmas ever, and a super happy New Year! Looking forward to blogging with you in 2011. ♥

Beautiful…I’m especially loving your ‘framed’ :D

My favorite is that winter shot! The remnants of one season lingering into another are always so poetic.

Love the second shot of the light bulb! Beautiful.

You are such a genius! I love your set of photos! That selective colouring looks amazing! And Mr. Flick – so great (I’m a huge fan ;-) )

Okay got mine up. Your little Mr.Flick is so cute! Love his frame shot!

I love all of your choices!! You are a fabulous photographer! Pics are wonderful!! I almost pulled a very old photo of my kitty sitting behind empty frames… but I was too lazy to go find it! =) anyway… I was lazy this week.. but managed to link up! did I say lazy… I meant busy… I did not put my heart into this week! *sigh* Merry Christmas !! =)

I LOVE your candle light selective color shot! I agree that many, many times it looks tacky, but you’ve done a superb job with it!! And your cleaning shot cracked me up too! :)

HA! I love Flick! Great entries as usual – my winter and your wind are very similar too!

Great shots! I think I love Mr. Flick. Is this a pass it around thing? If so, put me on the list. lol

Ah ha ha, that is the perfect Remember When…why is it that all little girls love everything that has to do with “making house”, but few of us actually care that love into adulthood? I sure wish I still loved cleaning, my house would be spotless then!

Also, the tree looks like it’s being blow away by the plane trails in the sky. I like it.

i’ve been so busy commenting on all of the entering blogs, i forgot about the one who’s hosting this amazing challenge!

    these are so gorgeous.
i love.. the colors in your winter photo, the clarity of the framed photo {mr flick is such a wonderful idea!}, the texture in the b&w photo, that blue bird sky in the wind photo, and your remember when photo is just way too cute {love those slippers!}.

thanks so much for hosting these challenges. i am so excited to enter this one…and hope to enter many more!
happy christmas to you and yours!

Beautiful shots, Ashley and your post made me laugh to boot!

I remember the NC winters when I went to school at Elon U. There weren’t snow plows but if we did get the occasional snow they used front-end loaders, haha! It was the ice storms that I remember having down there, not fun!

I love your selective colour shot. And you look like you are right into your vacuuming there!! too cute!

    wonderful photos

    Beautiful pics!!

Oh how I love our Carolina blue sky!

Well done with the selective coloring. To be honest, that’s what scared me away this week!

Love the pics! Especially the one with the toy vacuum. That’s priceless! Maybe I will finally have the time to participate for next week’s scavenger hunt now that school’s out for Christmas break!

Love your last pic. Those were the good days. :) Your selective coloring shot is pretty awesome.

I love your selective coloring. there’s nothing worse than tacky colors within a b&w photo. But yours is really subtle and awesome.
Mr FLickr is hilarious and that picture of you vaccuuming…. OMG!!!!! Could you be any cuter?

love love love this weeks photos. thanks for doing this ashley

i’m not a huge fan of selective coloring either, but you really nailed it! I love the little flicker and the texture you did gives that photo amazing depth & feeling.

I love love LOVE your shots this week. Mr. Flick is too cute – he has been framed! And I definitely cracked up at you “vacuuming” the floor in your tutu and Minnie Mouse slippers. Too cute!

    I absolutely LOVE your artwork

The remember when is so AWESOME!

I’ve been the biggest slacker. No scavenger hunt in weeks but yours get better every week. Great shots! and I hate this snowy cold fall.

Well done with the selective color. It is a wonderful shot and process, without taking away from the minimal color used. Also, love the older photo, we all have some of those cute ones!

I think with selective coloring: less is more. You’ve done a wonderful job illustrating this!

OK, I’m exhausted and needed a good laugh and #4 delivered! LOVE the frame! And your selective color…you totally pulled it off. I don’t love SC either, but you did it proud! :-)

Great shots this week Ashley but I have to agree with most everyone else…your selective color image is fantastic!

    I love the winter shot!

All great shots!! I love your selective color shot – so simple, yet so powerful. Mr. Flick is just too cute and that blue sky is amazing!

    Beautifully done Ashley!

I am in awe of your bw w/selective coloring. Not only is the texture awesome..but the lightbulb is so crisp and you got the light **just right**. wow. How cute is Mr.Flick??! Yea, he is pretty much awesome.

Wow, your selective color image is so wonderful!

Got your card, it’s awesome and totally made my day!

These are perfection!! I love your take on b&W with selective color…beautiful!! And your winter shot is just heavenly! I need to get out there and take more pics just for fun. To answer the question of your previous post: For christmas, I want to continue to feel inspired to take pictures. Sometimes, doing the business end of stuff can make you lose that spark that made you fall in love with photography in the first place. I pray that doesn’t become the case with me.

Woof, your pictures are awesome! I did the challenge too but I can’t link up!

Well, I sure hope you like selective coloring now, cause that shot is AMAZING!

I love your selective color shot!

Ok, your winter shot is my favorite, but that remember when photo is classic. I mean, that is just awesome :)

Your photo selections are awesome, especially your “remember when” choice–love it!

What wonderful photos! It looks like you’re enjoying your new camera! The “Remember When” photo is truly hilarious! Hopefully your husband doesn’t throw on a crown and tutu too!

    Woo-Hoo! I just made it! :)

I love your selective color – it looks so natural, and warm – like I can feel the heat from the light.

Cute “remember me” pic, too! :)
