Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Before we get to Scavenger Hunt Sunday, I am excited to be guest blogging at Crafty Life and Style today. If you’ve been enjoying my Shoot and Edit tutorials, you’ll enjoy this one – I remove a bad orange color cast. So, if you have a chance, come visit me:

Now…back to Scavenger Hunt Sunday. I was not as prepared this week as I was last week. Most of my posting was done in advance, but I really procrastinated this week with the photo prompts. Did you find them as difficult as I did? Either way, if you’ve been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week (and last week, we had 117 participants. Holy Cow!), I hope this week’s items inspired you…or rather, challenged you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Mortal Muses, Exploring with a Camera (hosted by The Kat Eye View of the World) and PieniLintu.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge.
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Memories
College Memories
This particular prompt was hard for me. I wasn’t sure how to illustrate memories, so I chickened out and took a picture of some pictures. HOWEVER, these pictures do have some sentimental value as they are of my college friends. From left to right…
  1. This is me with my college roommates…and was one of the last shots taken on the day I graduated from college. A couple of girls are missing from this shot but I loved living on campus with 10 other girls. You might think 11 girls in one house…yes, it could have been a recipe for disaster but I had awesome roommates. Now we’re all married and a few have babies…oh how life changes so quickly.
  2. This photo was taken in Disney World during Spring Break, Senior Year. Yeah, most people went to the Florida Keys, Cancun, etc…we went to Disney and LOVED IT! We piled into a mini-van and took turns driving down to Florida. Granted, if I remember correctly, I did a lot of the driving but it was sooo much fun!
  3. You can barely see the last shot but this is what my friends call “the family portrait,” also taken on graduation day. These are not my college roommates but I would call these girls some of my best friends. This particular group of friends is known for silly photos – my favorite: “Save Room for Ellen.” I’ll have to dig up that photo sometime. It’s a trip!
2. Silhouette
Crazy Tree Silhouette RS
So I may be cheating just a little bit. 1. This shot was taken a few weeks ago and 2. This is not a “true silhouette.” I was completely bored with the original image because the sky was pretty clear and it had been snowing. I thought it looked much cooler as an inverted image. I am much prouder of a silhouette I’m sharing tomorrow at the Mortal Muses.

3. Doorway(s)
Downtown Doors
Another cheating moment…I am seriously lacking some creative mojo this week. I pulled this shot out of my archives from last summer – during my photo walk in downtown Durham, NC. Look…FOUR doorways! For more doorways, go to:

4. Reflection
Reflection RS
Do you remember all the fun we had last month with the upside down tree trick? Well, I thought it might be interesting to bring out my 50mm and try to capture an interesting reflection while watching American Idol. I took several shots trying to get the color and lighting just right…totally worth it.

5. Silver
Silver Loop RS
I brought my macro lens to work on Thursday. I knew I needed to capture a few items and thought I might have some time to play. Well I had a few moments but I was lacking inspiration so my day planner fell victim. However, I still think it looks rather cool.

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post.  Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. Texture (current Mortal Muses’ prompt)
  2. Fog (Exploring with a Camera prompt – linky open starting February 2nd.)
  3. Button (PieniLintu‘s suggestion)
  4. Beverage or Drink (PieniLintu‘s suggestion)
  5. Seventies (PieniLintu‘s suggestion – could be interpreted as vintage 70’s image/product, a person in their 70’s or 70’s processing)

Again, thank you to the Mortal Muses, Kat and
PieniLintu for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just leave me a comment or send me an email with your suggestions. Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 3.  The prompt/theme is what says “good night” to you?
Happy Shooting!
