Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The other night, I bought two sheets of white foam board (they were 1/2 price at Michael’s) – I suppose I was inspired by the latest Muse University post: White Backgrounds. So, you’ll notice a theme this week with my interpretations. I’m also getting ready for the next Mortal Muse theme: Still Life (not sure what I’ll photograph yet, but this prompt should be rather easy for me). Speaking of the Mortal Muses…I’m musing today. Come visit!

Anyways, if you’ve been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Exploring with a Camera (hosted by The Kat Eye View of the World), February 2011 Photo Hunt and the NapTime MomTog.
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge.
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Chocolate
Chocolate RS
You’re going to get a double dose of chocolate today…especially since our Girl Scout cookies have arrived, but for this picture, I went with some left over chocolate chips. Yum!

2. Numbers
Numbers RSAnother theme with this week’s hunt…canned food!

3. Canned Food
Cans RS
I had a moment of nostalgia when photographing these cans. I practically grew up in a grocery store. So, when I saw this prompt, it took me back to the days of running up and down the store aisles. I could get two hot dogs and a soda for $2. Those were the days!

4. Music
CD Water RS
Last week, I was inspired by Natalie Franklin’s CD photograph. So…the other night, to relax my brain (after my first day of jury duty), I decided to try my hands at it. It might not be as awesome as Natalie’s shot, but I think it looks kinda neat.

5. Stack
Thin Mints RS
It’s Girl Scout Cookie Season! My favorite…THIN MINTS!!!
Photography love...

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post.  Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. Capture the Sky (Exploring with a Camera prompt)
  2. Everyday (February 2011 Photo Hunt item)
  3. Furry (February 2011 Photo Hunt item)
  4. Life (Sarah’s suggestion - hopefully we’ll see signs of “new life” this week)
  5. Blurred (Sarah’s suggestion - could be bokeh, motion blur, unfocused shot, etc.)

Again, thank you to the Kat, Amy (hosting the February 2011 Photo Hunt) and Sarah at NapTime MomTog for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just leave me a comment or send me an email with your suggestions. Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Don’t forget to mail your Love Letters to Kitty Paw (click on the button below for all the details). Also, be sure to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 7.  The prompt/theme is “pink.” Happy Shooting!

I stacked girl scout cookie boxes this week… 95 of them!! he he… we have yet to open any of our 8 boxes!!

I LOVE your girl scout cookie shot! Fabulous! and your canned food shot is fun!

Great shots Ashley, I love thin mints too!

Love the double chocolate dose today :) …but love the CD, too. Thanks for the hunt!

Awesome, all of them, as always!! Can I have a thin mint, please??? They’re my favorite.

I love how cool your watermark looks on the tins. I never really noticed that the letters have “dots” on them before. :) Very nice.

Great shots! I love the cans…and the chocolate chips. These are all making my very hungry:)

Love your music CD – it is pretty!
The chocolates are so yummy looking but it’s too late to eat now. ;(
I used foam board this week doing my canned food. I’m liking the idea.

LOVE the canned food shot! Another one I’d hang in my kitchen, lol. I like your music shot too, the colour is very pretty :)

May I have some chocolates, please? Have a great Sunday!

Yummo! Cookies, I just had a few last night, Its a horrible test, that right after the new year, and you make resolutions to loose weight, those cute little girls in pigtails coming knocking on your door with chocolate minty delight, how rude. :) Great shots!

I was aiming to do the same thing you did for canned food – especially that mom bought a box of Vienna Sausage containing 18 cans – but my brother didn’t allow me to open the box yet. Boo hoo… anyway, I love your “Stack” picture, it’s like a magazine ad. Great job with it.

I love the tones in that tinned food shot, and the colours on the CD are gorgeous. Beautiful shots Ashley.

Loving the can photo! I would frame it and put it in my kitchen! :D

Ashley…you never fail to amaze me. Wow…those shots are all amazing! The CD is stunning…and I looove the composition (and general yumminess) of the cookies <3. The prompts for next week all look like so much fun...I've wanted to participate each week, but then the week is over before I know it! Note to self: must. get. more. organized. ;D

Hey! I looked at mortal muse! I totally love love love your streetphoto. so real. yet so much art!

Great backgrounds Ashley to go along with your prompts this week. I too have been using white boards as backgrounds aswell for the past week – I really need to use that freezer paper for a seamless edge.

Wonderful captures. I love the first one. And the cans reminds me of the time when they used to put the price on top of cans.

Great shots, Ashley! Love your stack photo!

Love stack and music! Great job!

yummy! i feel like chocolate right noww. let me know if you want to follow each other :)

I think you did a great job on the music water drop shot. Neat photo prompts this week!

I need some foam board now! I’ve been seeing a few blogs about it lately. This was my first scavenger week, I had so much fun and can’t wait until next week!

    Well… now I’m hungry!
    Love your music shot

Your post makes me hungry! :) Great shots!

Love the chocolate shot, and the music shot! That’s cool. :D

mmmmmmmm cookies….great job on all the shots this week…The Cd is my favourite but of course they are all wonderful….great job as always Ashley!!

This is my first time entering in Scavenger Hunt Sunday. This is a great challenge, giving ideas for things to photograph as well as stretching one’s abilities!

I think your photos are beautiful!

Great shots, love your idea for the canned food.

Really love your music and stack shots! Love those thin mints!!

Aw man, how did I miss the girl scout cookies, I can’t find anyone selling them. Great photos! I love the perspective in the girl scout cookie one.

Another gorgeous collection, Ashley! I’d love to have a handful of that stack ;-)

2 ideas that I am going to have to borrow this week: foam board and the CD trick! And-ugh-don’t even get me started on girl scout cookies, I think I may have over dosed on them already and I haven’t even gotten to the box of thin mints yet (which incidently was my favorite shot of yours this week-ha!).

I love all of the photos, like always! I’m especially loving the THIN MINTS!!!! Girl Scout cookie time is one of my favorite parts of the year! YAY!!! I actually caught Dexter this morning trying to get into the Caramel deLights. It was hilarious… I thought cats didn’t like sweets, but apparently Dexter does.

Love these shots. That foam board is a great backdrop. You’ve inspired me!

Hey Hostess….great pics, AGAIN. Nice white space on those thin mints. I’m all about thin mints. And I liked too your chocolate take.

Love your food shots. Must be hungry.

these are great. Like the cd, is it suppose to have drops on it? I will try sometime. Thin mints cold are my favorite.

Okay so first of all, I am insanely honored that you mentioned me here! Second of all OMG! Your disc shot is great! Love that angle you captured and the turqouise-y color of the disc! Also, your canned foods shot! Wow, what a way to take an ordinary item and make it an awesome photo!

These are all fantastic! I love the macro chocolate ones. My mouth is watering over the Thin Mints!

I just love the pure simplicity of these photographs. Who would have though a tin can could look so good? Love your cookie stack, can’t imagine it lasted long, yum!

How do you manage to pull together stunning shots each week?! I LOVE your take on the music CD, it came out very very cool! & also love the composition on your cans :) & yes I did change my banner! I never seem to be happy with it..so it was really nice to hear your comment :)

Love all your shots! Music is very cool! Thin mints are my favorite! I could eat a whole box in one sitting, which is why I don’t buy them anymore. :)

Great pictures! And what fun! I don’t know if I’ll join in this week, but I’m gonna grab your button for my weekend bloghop list so that I remember to come back!!
    Following you now.

What fun! I’m a new participant this week at my personal blog. :)

Awesome pictures Ashley! I LOVE the music one. So cool.

I always have such fun seeing what you come up with on Sundays. I’m going to have to try white boards and give my kitchen table a break. I too love Thin Mints. (Thank goodness I didn’t take a picture of chocolate chips (I had considered it when making banana muffins.) If I had I would have felt even worse!

BTW, is it true? Do you really love the food shots today because you’re eating for two? If so, congrats!!!!

I love your numbers photo, especially how you see just enough of the label to know what’s inside the can too. It kind of reminds me of those vintage photos of 1950s grocery stores, where you could see how a can of tomatoes was 3 cents a pop (or something like that). Anyway, your pictures are great this week!

These are wonderful. I love the stack of cookies and your canned food pics…brilliant!

Now I’m craving thin mints! Your stack picture is great!

These are so great! I especially love Stack and Music. Music so cool and creative!

Can I just say, your “stack” image made me miss Girl Scout cookies with a vengeance! Thanks for including Exploring with a Camera in next’s week’s Scavenger hunt! I can’t wait to see what people find.

Beautiful shots ashley! I didn’t know it was girl scout season already…thanks!!! Love the light on that shot.

I love your Music shot. When it’s done that well, there’s nothing like a water droplet picture. Very, very cool.

Your interpretations are always spot on! I feel like I am learning from a master.

Yum. all those pictures of chocolate are tormenting me…

I am totally smitten by the CD image. of course, your picture of the Mic a few weeks ago was equally amazing. How about some abstract themes: chaos, calm, energy, etc…?

    Your music shot is amazing

Love the cd and chocolate chip shots!

The Cd and the cans are my favorite. Such a creative perspective on both.

One of these days I’ll get my act together and join in! I see you got 101 link ups, congrats!

The composition on the cookies – LOVE IT! Your CD, super cool, love the colors, very soft! And just curious what processing you used on the cans. I’ve been meaning to email you asking about a hazy b&w low contrast action (I was going to send you a pic or 2 as an example of what I was looking for, but haven’t had a chance)…anyway… I’m looking for a b&w action with no pop. LOVE yours! Beautiful job!

Ashley, I don’t know if you know this, but I *just* saw Edy’s Girl Scout Cookie – THIN MINT – ice-cream! Wooo-hooo!! :)

    I love the Stack shot!

I love the CD! I might have to give that a try.

Your macros just blow me away everytime. I felt like such a slacker with my “canned food” interpretation when I saw your version.

Thanks so much for doing this! This is my first time, I love the link ups, such an easy way to see other photogs’ blogs!!! LOVE IT! I’m having so much fun just looking!

Neat shots Ashley. Can you send me one of those Thin Mints? Looks so good right now.

Ashley these are all so great! I really love the cd!

Love your canned foods. It’s a great perspective.

Hi Ashley! These are beautiful :) I am loving numbers, very cool take! I have not had much time in the last two weeks to pick up a camera. Life ebbs and flows and if I can’t give it my all, I wait until I can. Hoping to link back up soon dear XO, Kelly

On time AGAIN! Whew! I really love your chocolate & stack pix… how do you get that flawless white background???

Loved ALL your shots! I just love the chocolate shot…so simple & so beautiful! Also, that CD shot-AWESOME! I think there will be lots of us trying that out, including me! (much like the water drops) GREAT take on stack :)

Ashley- LOVE THOSE THIN MINTS! I could sooooo blow that up & frame it. YUM!!! You made me want to seek out the girl scouts today. :)

I really like your music shot–the colors of the disc and the water droplets are so pretty!

Wonderful DoF in the macro of the chocolate chips.

I like how the chocolate chips and cookies photos have a simple subject but look interesting with the appearance of depth the white background gives. :)
I might get some sheets of foamcore sometime for use as a reflector or background; do you use anything for reflectors?

We do our gs cookie sale in the fall! Right now, we have the GS magazine sale…….

Know any good photo magazines? I get Rangefinder (it’s free), but I have to buy something being that, well…it’s my kid and all!

Love your shots this week….especially the music and the chocolate :)

These are awesome! I, too, need to make a run to Michael’s and get some white foam board for some projects that I’ve had running through my head for some time. The chocolate photos, yum! I ordered my Girl Scout cookies a couple of weeks ago and can’t wait for my Thin Mints, Samoas, Trefoils, and Tagalongs. So, so good.

These are all fantastic!!! Especially love the cookie shot because I am not eating sweets this week…you’re killing me! ;0 lol

I love your ALL of your pictures! :) Oh and yes, I forgot to link up! Thanks for reminding me! :)

Great shots! I’m always so impressed by your shots of everyday things. You make them look so great and there is definitely an art to it.

Mmmmm….thin mints. Those are my favs!! I LOVE your canned goods shot and especially with the edit you’ve given it!
