Scavenger Hunt Sunday
This week was a blur. As I mentioned yesterday, I had a dentist and hair appointment on Monday…and then had to go back to the dentist on Tuesday for a filling. I don’t remember having cavities as a child (and my mom is convinced that people don’t have them anymore with all the fluoride in the water), and I had my first cavity filling a couple of years ago…but this time seemed different.

Random teeth story: I had tooth sealants (plastic resin that a dentist bonds into the grooves of the chewing surface of a tooth as a means of helping to prevent the formation of tooth decay) put on my back molars when I was young. Over time, those sealants chipped away and last year, my dentist removed a couple of them completely. Since then, she’s been watching those teeth and decided on my visit Monday that it was time for a filling. Well, the procedure itself wasn’t too bad – 15 minutes tops – but, I felt off the rest of the afternoon. I even left work early to get some rest…I didn’t even want to pick up my camera.

Anyways, enough about my teeth. If you’ve been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Kathleen at Treasured Chapters, February 2011 Photo Hunt and The Clip Cafe.
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge.
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Shadows
My Shadow RS
I should have gotten a bit more creative with my shadow shot, but I just wasn’t feeling it this week. Once it gets warmer outside, I’ll be much more interested in going outside for longer than it takes me to walk to my car.

2. Patterns/Repetition
Blinds RS
This might be my favorite shot of the week. I went to work the other day telling myself that I needed to look for patterns or repetition. Late Thursday afternoon, the sun was beaming. So, I walked over to my blinds with my camera to see if something interesting might appear through my lens. Absolutely!

3. Bright White
Toliet Paper RS
I’m not exactly sure what compelled me to photograph toilet paper this week. However, the other night when I was thinking about the Scavenger Hunt and “bright white,” I ended up in the bathroom. I’m kinda digging the composition of this shot – I love some nice open white space! I’m linking up with Ray’s First Photography Challenge: Bathroom.

4. Strong
Strength RS
Alright, so technically this is “strength,” but I knew that I wanted to photograph scripture. I originally wanted to use Psalm 138:3 (New American Standard translation) “On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul.” Unfortunately, my translation did not have the word strength in the sentence (stouthearted), so I decided to move to Psalm 118:14 instead, “The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.”

5. Warmth
The Heat RS
If I’m completely honest, it never gets too cold in North Carolina but I’m a southern girl…I prefer heat (although I could pass on our humidity). Anyways, I’m thankful that our heating bill isn’t too outrageous…thus, it’s always warm in our home. By the way, can you tell I like white space?

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post.  Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. Chocolate (Kathleen’s suggestion)
  2. Numbers (February 2011 Photo Hunt item)
  3. Canned Food (February 2011 Photo Hunt item)
  4. Music (Clip Cafe suggestion)
  5. Stack (Clip Cafe suggestion)

Again, thank you to the Kathleen, Amy (hosting the February 2011 Photo Hunt) and The Clip Cafe for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just leave me a comment or send me an email with your suggestions. Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Don’t forget to mail your Love Letters to Kitty Paw (click on the button below for all the details). Also, be sure to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 6.  The prompt/theme is “love/romance.” Happy Shooting!
Love Letters to Kitty Paw

love all your photos Ashley, i almost ended up with my bathroom for bright white as it is all white no colour other than hand towel and the shampoo etc we have in there…but got creative instead…looking forward to seeing what everyone else does

Ha..love bright white! Great choices, Ashley.

Your repetition shot is fabulous Ashley! The bright blue, the dof, the bare tree out the window… I really love that one. :)

PERFECT. Love the shadow shot and the perfect simplicity of the bright white and warmth!

Ooh, I kind of love them all this week. (Not that I don’t like them every week.) And I love the one that you had for the “Shadows”. I’m kinda wishing that was my idea…;)

love your bright white – what a hoot!!. I nearly went with the same type of shadow shot, but couldn’t get one I was happy with :-)
Looking forward to ‘chocolate’ for next week!!

The pattern shot using your blinds is fantastic! That blue really makes it for.
The bright white shot is perfect in its simplicity!

Your pattern picture is indeed beautiful!

Gorgeous shots as always! I went on a similar vein with the shadow shot this week.

    LOVE the Patterns/Repetition shot!

Love Love the TP photo!! Really!! I almost used toilet paper for the bright white too… I opened a new pack this week and stacked them up on the counter to divide into the three bathrooms… if my camera had been right there… anyway lost my moment in the busy of my day… but I see that next week has stacked as a category… lol!!

loved your shadow pic as well!

I LOVE all the photos, such great interpretations. This inspires me to try to dig deeper within myself for this ;)

Hope you start to feel better.

Wonderful photos. I really do love the blind photo. Thanks for hosting each week.

Bright white is my favorite. :)

I love your shots especially the light on the patterns and repetitions

love the negative space on the warmth shot and very creative take on the bright white shot, even made me giggle.

Really diggin’ the texture of your shadow shot. And…I LOVE your bathroom shot (and how in the world did you find a BATHROOM challenge to link up with? :)). Great choice for strength as well!

Toilet paper… how original! I like your strength one as well.

The out-of-focus tree in the blinds photo looks pretty neat. :)

I should probably try to join SHS sometime…

Amazing shot this week! I love them all. Your repetitions shot is awesome and your bright white made me laugh!

Toilet paper!?!? Brillant :D I had a hard time with that prompt. I absolutely love your interpretation on that one.

Your pictures this week are great! I love each shot.

Have a most blessed Lord’s Day.

Actually love that toiletpaper-photo, hehe :)

I had real fun participating again, although some people can’t seem to access my site via the link. :( I wonder why that is…

Oh my friend those blinds!! As they say in Maine….that’s a wicked good shot! I’m intrigued by your use of white spaces-I’ll have to remember that. Thanks for another great list.

Great shot of the loo roll – love it!

Amazing! I love all of these shots!

I love your blinds shot! The colors are so awesome there!
And the toilet paper… hilarious! :)

You are really creative, beautiful photos! Love your pattern – the light, angle yes all about it!

    Have a nice week !

Wow, I love your pattern repetition this week! All lovely :)Have a great week Ashley!

The Pattern shot is my favorite shot too. Quite clever with the TP shot and the thermostat!

Thanks for inspiring me to get outside with me camera again this week! You definitely think outside the box. I would have never thought of photographing toilet paper!

Love the patterns photo! Really cool capture!

Gosh one of these days I want to do this challenge again… these are great shot.

I love reflection and your take on white. I love white too but with dogs I doubt if I can ever have white. ;-)

I hope you’re feeling better after the dentist. I love mine (dentist) next to my hairstylist ;-)

Love them ALL, as always! =) Especially love your Strength shot, such an incredible capture. Happy Sunday! xo

Bright white is my favorite…lol. I like your patterns/repitition, too. Very nicely done!

Bummer about the dentist. That ranks right up there as my least favorite thing to do. I’m new to this challenge, so I don’t if this has been done yet, but how about “Breakable” for a theme?

Great pics – love the toilet paper! About your teeth – I had sealants as a kid too – I think every kid who grew up in the 80s had them – it was the thing to do! My friend’s husband is a dentist and he swears up and down that all of us with sealants as kids grow up to have weaker teeth and get cavaties on those teeth because while the sealants are supposed to protect the teeth, they also trap bacteria under them. Just keep brushing and flossing – but your body was probably right to feel that something was “off” all day.

The Pattern shot is just gorgeous!

I think you did pretty well for being so busy too. The shadow shot has a cool texture too it, that I think is really part of the pavement and I like the toilet paper, thats totally something I would take a picture of as well!

I really enjoyed the shots this week for you to not be feelin’ it.

It may technically be strength, but our LORD is STRONG!!

The toilet paper shot is super fun. The blinds turned out fantasticly!

me an my bad english…can you please tell me the meaning of STACK??

Love this theme every sunday, thanks:O))

I love your TP shot. It’s wonderful and so are the rest. :)

    Woof Ashley!
    I made it again.
    I love your bright white
simply because I love toilet paper!

The pattern shot is excellent! I had a crazy busy week last week, too. I think this is the first time I have sat at the computer for longer than 20 minutes since last Tuesday!

The repetition is my favorite, it’s so pretty. How can blinds be so pretty? :) That’s a sign of a great photographer. I love them all. I’m so happy to be participating again! I’m getting my link up in a minute! xo

Love the pattern shot. I haven’t had tome to join in this week! Real life just gets in the way!

Wonderful photos Ashley and I love your interp of strength.

Love all your shots this week! I think I like all that white space too… simple and it draws your eye right to what your focus was! =)

Love the strong shot and the simplicity of the warmth shot! Awesome!

That blind picture is really fantastic. I love them all though. I love that you do this. You have inspired so many people. I love that.

    fantastic shots, per usual.
love the window and bathroom shots!

PS. I’ve been trying to leave comments for everyone, and at this point in the semester, I just don’t have the time for it. Instead I will comment those that I’ve already established friendships with and those I find inspiring. However, I was thinking, if there are newbies would you mind letting us all know? I’d hate to miss out on those who are just starting the hunt!! I simply don’t have time to leave 120 comments.

hehe. I hadn’t gotten all my shots done yet for this, but what’s too funny is that you took all of them that I was going to take!! :) There were some slight differences, but pretty much the same intent! lol!

I’m totally digging the composition of your bright white shot. Very cool. And how do you manage to make blinds look so stinkin cool?

I love your toot paper shot… That is really thinking outside the box ;) well done!

LOL! I love that you took a photo of your toilet paper! I had to really think about my Bright White shot too!

Love your photos – I need to get back to these challenges.

Love all your Scavenging…oddly, especially that toilet paper! ;D

I hear ya about the yuckiness about the dentist, btw…I just had my first root canal done and let me tell you; you DON’t want to go there!!!

Hope your Valentine’s Day was wonderful <3

Ok- I really want to start being a part of the scavenger hunt Sundays but I don’t know where to begin! Where do we get the list to know what themes we’re photographing? I’m so confused!! If you could comment here or email me at pekriegel07@aol.com I would really appreciate it!!
