Scavenger Hunt Sunday
This week was a blur. As I mentioned yesterday, I had a dentist and hair appointment on Monday…and then had to go back to the dentist on Tuesday for a filling. I don’t remember having cavities as a child (and my mom is convinced that people don’t have them anymore with all the fluoride in the water), and I had my first cavity filling a couple of years ago…but this time seemed different.

Random teeth story: I had tooth sealants (plastic resin that a dentist bonds into the grooves of the chewing surface of a tooth as a means of helping to prevent the formation of tooth decay) put on my back molars when I was young. Over time, those sealants chipped away and last year, my dentist removed a couple of them completely. Since then, she’s been watching those teeth and decided on my visit Monday that it was time for a filling. Well, the procedure itself wasn’t too bad – 15 minutes tops – but, I felt off the rest of the afternoon. I even left work early to get some rest…I didn’t even want to pick up my camera.

Anyways, enough about my teeth. If you’ve been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Kathleen at Treasured Chapters, February 2011 Photo Hunt and The Clip Cafe.
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge.
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Shadows
My Shadow RS
I should have gotten a bit more creative with my shadow shot, but I just wasn’t feeling it this week. Once it gets warmer outside, I’ll be much more interested in going outside for longer than it takes me to walk to my car.

2. Patterns/Repetition
Blinds RS
This might be my favorite shot of the week. I went to work the other day telling myself that I needed to look for patterns or repetition. Late Thursday afternoon, the sun was beaming. So, I walked over to my blinds with my camera to see if something interesting might appear through my lens. Absolutely!

3. Bright White
Toliet Paper RS
I’m not exactly sure what compelled me to photograph toilet paper this week. However, the other night when I was thinking about the Scavenger Hunt and “bright white,” I ended up in the bathroom. I’m kinda digging the composition of this shot – I love some nice open white space! I’m linking up with Ray’s First Photography Challenge: Bathroom.

4. Strong
Strength RS
Alright, so technically this is “strength,” but I knew that I wanted to photograph scripture. I originally wanted to use Psalm 138:3 (New American Standard translation) “On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul.” Unfortunately, my translation did not have the word strength in the sentence (stouthearted), so I decided to move to Psalm 118:14 instead, “The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.”

5. Warmth
The Heat RS
If I’m completely honest, it never gets too cold in North Carolina but I’m a southern girl…I prefer heat (although I could pass on our humidity). Anyways, I’m thankful that our heating bill isn’t too outrageous…thus, it’s always warm in our home. By the way, can you tell I like white space?

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post.  Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. Chocolate (Kathleen’s suggestion)
  2. Numbers (February 2011 Photo Hunt item)
  3. Canned Food (February 2011 Photo Hunt item)
  4. Music (Clip Cafe suggestion)
  5. Stack (Clip Cafe suggestion)

Again, thank you to the Kathleen, Amy (hosting the February 2011 Photo Hunt) and The Clip Cafe for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just leave me a comment or send me an email with your suggestions. Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Don’t forget to mail your Love Letters to Kitty Paw (click on the button below for all the details). Also, be sure to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 6.  The prompt/theme is “love/romance.” Happy Shooting!
