Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Spring teased me this week. On Wednesday afternoon, we experienced 70 degree temperatures...then it dropped right back down to 35/40 the next day. And while parts of the country continue to be covered in snow...it's just cold and rainy here. Oh, and apparently, the groundhog did not see his shadow, so hopefully that means we'll see an early spring. Come on warm weather - hurry up already!

In other news, I will be hosting a new Photo Contest starting Wednesday, February 9th. It all started when my friend, Emily (just go over and look - totally worth it), posted her entry for the Paper Mama's Valentine's Card Challenge. After a little joking around, I decided that a "Love Letters to Kitty Paw" contest was in order. I'm in the process of organizing the details, including prizes, but I wanted to let you know it was coming so you could tap into your creative brains.

So, if you've been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week's items inspired you. If you're new to the Scavenger Hunt...WELCOME! Next week's items are sponsored by Justine Gordon (flickr group), and 4 Lettre Words.
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You're encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge.
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I'm not too strict about it - I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) - you can use the button above.
  5. Have fun!
Without further discussion...here are my interpretations this week:

1. Water
Water RS
I considered going back to the water droplets this week, but decided against it. On Friday, we had one of those days where you wish you could just lay in bed all day...cold and wet. As I was leaving the office, I looked through my windshield and found beauty in the rain....so much so, that I couldn't stop at sharing just one photo.

2. Quote
Dead End RS
I shared this photo yesterday for Scripture and a Snapshot (click HERE for full message). During my one hour of 70 degree temperature bliss driving down a country road, I was looking for a Dead End road. This road actually runs right beside a small church (which I can never seem to photograph correctly - I need to bring my wide angle lens converter) and leads you out to a couple of small farms. I love the leading lines of this road as well as the way the trees seem to create an inviting path. In our lives, "dead end roads"  are just like this...they can seem very appealing as we're traveling down them, but have nothing to offer us.

3. Window
This Old House RS
This photo was taken just a few steps away from the Dead End road. These country roads have so many old and abandon houses. I kinda wonder how a place that was once someone's home ends up like this.

4. Activity
IMG_1770 blog
I thought I might have a picture of my brother during his birthday to share for this prompt, but we will be eating lunch with him today (instead of Friday which was his birthday...Happy Birthday!). Instead, I'll share another picture of Caroline during her birthday. The activity - giggling. Why is she giggling? Because she's covered in cake!
Photography love...

5. Page 25 of a Magazine (source of inspiration)
Make Your Photos Sing RS
For Christmas, one of my friends bought me a subscription to Popular Photography magazine. A few weeks ago, I received my first issue - there is some pretty good information. On page 25, there was a New York Institute of Photography advertisement (my photograph of the advertisement on the left). I thought it might be interesting to capture my husband in one of his "rap sessions." Unfortunately, that didn't happen so I photographed his mic stand instead. I think the two images look kinda cool as a diptych.

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can't wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post.  Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn't participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. Shadows
  2. Patterns/Repetition (Justine's suggestion)
  3. Bright White (Dina's suggestion)
  4. Strong (Dina's suggestion)
  5. Warmth (Dina's suggestion)
Again, thank you to the Justine and Dina for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you'd like to contribute items to the list, just leave me a comment or send me an email with your suggestions. Each week, I will select one reader's prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 5.  The prompt/theme is "hearts." Happy Shooting!

So your page 25 too was an advert! Maybe page 25 is a page that is always used for adverts as that is what I found too.

Your water shots are excellent and I just love how well the quote and window photo's compliment one another, just that tinge of colour on the sign is so effective!!!

Hi! Your water picture is very nice! It almost made me wish for a rainy cold day!

This was my first time participating, and despite lacking a 'good' camera and although it was my first time, it was a great thing to do, and I'll sure be back next week :)

I heard about all of you lucky ducks who had weather in the 70s this week! :) Sorry it was just a tease!

I love your shots on your Dead End little roadtrip! And your page 25 shot is so much fun next to your hubby's toys!

Ashley I really like that old abandoned little house and how you edited it and that dead end road. We don't call them dead ends here but "no through roads". I love every one of them but if I was to choose it has to be that rain photo reflected in your mirror.

Have a lovely lunch with your brother - I've so many of your posts to catch up on!

Oh, these are FANTASTIC! I'm so in love with the first one of the water drops!!! That pic on the left; how you captured the car in your rearview mirror. TOTALLY want to copy that shot. And i LOVE those old abandoned houses! You'd think we'd have some around here, but we really don't. Not interesting ones, anyway. LOVE the last one too, what a cool idea with the 2 pics together! OK fine, I love them all! ♥

love the diptychs you've created this week. Somehow a collection of linked shots sawys so much! I have a photo of ice similar to the water shot on the right. Really didn't think "water" would be so hard - - I was wrong.
