Two weeks ago, Elena taught us all how to achieve "model eyes." I practiced all week in the mirror but just didn't take my self portrait in time. On Monday, I got my hair did...and after seeing Elena's photo for "Camera" during Scavenger Hunt Sunday last week, I was inspired. Let me tell ya, it is incredibly hard to take a picture of yourself in your side view mirrors with a 50mm lens (at least it is on my 7D...focused). But, I really like this shot, so I'm happy to share it with you today. If nothing else, I feel more confident to achieve model eyes in my pictures moving forward, so thanks Elena!

I'm not sure that I struggle with getting in front of the camera, but we all need to be reminded that we are beautiful. If you have a moment, please read this post by my friend Courtney...I couldn't have said it better myself: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.

I have to tell you that during the course of my photo shoot with me and me, that my neighbor's son came outside to see what was going on. So here I am with my tripod and running back and forth while he is asking me "what are you doing?" It was pretty cute and had he been on the other side of the fence, he would have been in the picture with me.

First of all, the whole idea of practicing model eyes in the mirror made me laugh...glad to know I'm not the only one who does that...but at least you have the goal of a self-photo in mind when you do it!

I thought the model eyes trick was so cool! I practiced my model eyes so much I kept doing them in public!
Apparently every time I smiled at the airport, the model eyes appeared. I couldn't figure out why all of the guys were so nice to me, the ticket counter guy even waved goodbye! I felt like such a DORK once I figured out what was going on.

Love all of your shots (jealous of the sunshine and grass...)....but that first one...WOW! Stunning!
The second I saw those two shots on flickr I loved them loved them loved them. Each in it's one way.
The model eyes in the mirror was a perfect cheat cuz you could actually see yourself doing them. It worked out great and honestly I would have never guessed it's was a car mirror shot.
