Selfie Saturday...CLONED!

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again...is it just me or are you learning so much from Elena's Selfie Saturday tutorials? I've actually been excited to attempt "cloning," since Chelsey (The Paper Mama) shared a tutorial on Paper Heart Camera in November...and then with her Christmas card (talk about creative!).

An as anxious as I was to give this whole cloning thing a try, I had one teeny tiny problem...LIGHT. I work full time, so most times, I can only do my "photography assignments" in the evening or on the weekends. Once daylight savings time rolls over, I'll have a lot more time in the evening to take advantage of the light...but for now, I am incredibly limited (more the reason that I'm glad I own a speedlite).
Bathroom Routine RS
I'd actually planned to pull together this self portrait session in the morning using natural light, but the light in our house is incredibly dim until about 1 pm. So, rather than racing home to the same situation I had on Wednesday for Vloggin' Vednesday, I opted to use my external flash in my bathroom. What you see here, is a visual of my bathroom routine (following my gym routine - minus me being in the shower...this blog is G rated people). I originally planned for a few more images, but I could only get so much in the shot (which now reminds me that I could have potentially used my kit lens with that 18mm focal range...next time). The only thing missing now is Kitty Paw drinking from the shower - you can pretend that that's what I'm looking at in the middle pose.

With that said, I had a lot of fun with this prompt. I'm pretty sure that you'll see more "cloning" from me in the future. In the meantime, check out more cloned selfies today by going to:

Before you go, click over to Muse University to see a few quick tips on shooting starbursts, featuring my friend, Karli Bonnie! Need a little encouragement? Here's a BIT OF TRUTH (if you love quotes, this blog is for you...all quotes). This particular one really spoke to me because it reinforces the message I wrote on Tuesday (Life is Like a Maze). What are you waiting for....just do it!
Have a great Saturday! I'm off to photograph a church youth group. I'll see you tomorrow for Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Amazing job Ashley! I love it. I wanted to try this so bad but I want to lose more weight before I reveal the new me. Maybe when I'm ready I'll do my reveal using a cloned picture.

Looks great Ashley! I never done one of these, I should google how to do it then give it a try! Do you learn how to do techniques and photoshop and other things by just teaching yourself? Blogs, tutorials etc?

Awesome! It looks so real, too! Like a few best girlfriends getting ready for a night out, only they look exactly the same. :-) I have tried this already, but I may just have to do it again since I got my new toy! Love it, Ash!

Thanks for Joining, girl!
I love the expression on your face in the toweled clone :) hahaha.
And you changed outfits which is always great! i was a bit lazier than that this week LOL.
So hello to triple Ashleys!

You are queen of the speedlight! So great, I don't see any flash-generated shadows or anything else to indicate that you used your flash. Awesome!

I closed my aperture down to f/11 to be sure I had everything in focus in my clones shot... even in a fairly well lit room light becomes an issue then.

LOVE the b&w selfie in your new header too!

I LOVE your clone shot - how awesome! So real life; it's fantastic! Yeah, I always look foward to Elena's posts too. I always think there's no way she can top her last pics, but she always does. Oh, and you're so sweet... I hopped over to Muse University and saw "featuring KB"...you're so sweet - I love it! OK, now I'm off to track down your vlog which I didn't get a chance to watch this week....
Happy Saturday! XO

Hey Ashley, question for you if you have time... I want to link to my five on Fridays and Project 52 in my "pages" at the top of my blog like you do for your shoot and edit. How in the world do you do that?? I've tried and for the life of me can't figure it out!! Thank you, dear!

What an awesome shot! I love that you actually use a bathrobe; it fits right in with your personality! In our house, it's more like a mad dash to get dressed and quickly towel dry my hair before Georgia causes too much havoc in her room.
