Shoot and Edit: Week 11 – Flowers SOOC
Welcome to the 11th week of Shoot and Edit: Part 1. Click HERE for all the details and upcoming prompts/themes.

This week our theme or prompt is “FLOWERS(this is just a suggestion, you can show us any SOOC shot).  You have until Wednesday each week to link your SOOC shot up on Jill’s blog. On Thursday, you can link up your edits with ME after following some of my tips on how to edit your shots (or just post your edit on Thursday and you can pick up my tips for next week).

I actually took this shot last week before our beautiful Bradford tree blooms turned green. It just so happened that I’d just gotten my new 50mm f/1.4 lens, so I was anxious to give it a whirl. Here’s my SOOC:

Flower EXIF

In my opinion, I think this shot needs little more than my typical clean processing. So, I am in the process of working on a “Nice and Easy” action for you that will include nearly all of the clean processing steps we’ve discussed. The only thing it may not include is your curves layer since many previous versions of Photoshop Elements do not have a curves function built in. As if you couldn’t tell, I’m still working on it.

I’d also like to explore the artsy filters, so I brought a photo out of archives as an example. Here is my SOOC:
Pink Flower SOOC RS

Pink Flower EXIF

There are so many fun artsy filters that I hope you’ll enjoy a little experimenting this week (alright…so I tend to experiment every week, but now that SPRING has officially started, I’ve got a fresh wave of inspiration). Next week’s theme is “green,” and I plan to discuss the true color of grass. With that said, be sure to check out other “flower” SOOC shots at:
Have a great Monday!

I’m going to do a walk-about today. Maybe I can catch something in bloom.

Lovely flowers. Congratulations on your new lens. 50mm, f/1.4 really does wonders, especially when placed in very good hands.

LOVEE that first shot! I think my photo I’m going to use is of the same kind of tree but ours hadn’t fully bloomed yet…they may be now, it was taken about 4 days ago!

great shots. Can`t wait to see what is done with these which are pretty as is.

also I was going to get that and still might but am going to get the 50mm f/1.8.

That first shot is so pretty! :D

I have no flowers out here… there’s still snow on the ground, and more is coming. :/

Might pull one out of the archives for this week..

So help me I am joining in this week!! I say that every week, but THIS week I’m reeeeaaaaalllyyy gonna try! Haha!

Can’t wait to see your edit!! I’m looking to upgrade my 50 1.8 to the 1.4 sometime this year. Can you tell a huge difference? I heard it’s pretty incredible!

I really like the second shot, what flower is that?

That lens is on my wish list so it’s great to see its possibilities before purchase and I loved that camera shot with it yesterday aswell. That’s a great little shot with the blurry background.

Well I’m looking forward to your artsy tutorial – I love artsy as you already know :)

I laughed when I saw you talk about the true colour of grass – if only you knew how fussy I am about my front lawn.

    Beautiful captures.

I am so loving this spring thing! I went hog wild with my camera this weekend at Dallas Blooms, so I have a bunch of shots to choose from to do a Shoot and Edit :) YAY

Congrats on the new lens! I love the peony shot!!! It definitely makes me think of spring, and already looks amazing!

beautiful shots. I can’t wait to see blooms here.

    the first shot is great!

Those are lovely and I cannot wait to learn some more editing steps! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

Yay..I finally linked up for this fun challenge! I love the first shot, I wish we had these kind of blooms around here already! & congrats on the 50mm 1.4! :)

Both photos are gorgeous just as they are! But I look forward to your tutorial this week. Congrats on the new lens!

Beautiful photos; those flowers make me happy despite the fact that it’s currently snowing outside my window right now (!!!). I have to admit though, I did chuckle a little at the “true color of grass”; since our lawn is so weedy, it’s more like brown with greener patches.

With snow in the forecast I needed beautiful flowers like this to prove today was the first day of spring.

    Those are really pretty Ashley.

My son is excited for the true color of green because he learns things like that in school all the time & he thinks it is fantastic when it is applied elsewhere :) See you then.

What a fun idea, Ashley! Congrats on your new lens– it is my go-to most favorite of all time lens!

    Beautiful shots Ashley.

I’m hoping to get my new 50 mm soon! Can’t wait! Looking forward to this week’s edit and finding out more about your action.

    Beautiful shot, loved it!

That first shot is so pretty, I love it!
    Happy first day of spring.

I miss Bradford Pear tree blooms – so pretty! That lens is on my wish list – love the dof you achieved! Both shots so lovely!

I really like that first shot.

That first photo is just lovely! (And I’m still chuckling over my brother’s reaction to your camera this evening) I’m really looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the editing department this week! It was so nice getting to meet you in person–I hope we can do it again some time! :)

I love those pear tree flowers!! I can’t wait for them to start blooming here! :)

Sounds like you got some cool stuff planned for Thursday! Have fun!!

I love that first shot… It’s so pretty!
