Shoot and Edit: Week 9 – Spring SOOC
Welcome to the ninth week of Shoot and Edit: Part 1.

Click HERE for all the details and upcoming prompts/themes.

This week our theme or prompt is “SPRING” (this is just a suggestion, you can show us any SOOC shot) – how appropriate for today!  You have until Wednesday each week to link your SOOC shot up on Jill’s blog. On Thursday, you can link up your edits with ME after following some of my tips on how to edit your shots (or just post your edit on Thursday and you can pick up my tips for next week).

I wasn’t quite sure what to shoot for “spring.” Spring is just starting to bloom, but it rained all weekend. However, there’s one thing that consistently returns every Spring…my allergies. I mentioned it during my vlog last week, so I thought I’d shoot my allergy medicine. Here’s the SOOC shot:
Allergy SOOC-RS

Allergies EXIF

As you can tell by my EXIF data, this shot is a bit overexposed. Considering my white on white composition, overexposure was bound to happen (at least according to my EXIF data). I used my Sigma 105mm EX Macro lens and it has a tendency to read everything as underexposed. This is a perfect example of learning how to use your camera and your lenses…each one will be different and each one will have their sweet spot.

Anyways, this week’s edit is likely to be pretty simple but I’m thinking I’ll share a simple way to “stretch the canvas,” and also discuss resizing and sharpening for the web. If you have other ideas that may be more appropriate, let me know. Next week’s theme is “yellow.” With that said, be sure to check out other “SPRING” SOOC shots at:
Have a great Monday!

By the way, be sure you click on the button below for tips on becoming a “Word Verification Free” blog.

PS: I was out of town this past weekend (I don’t like to mention that until I’ve returned home – not trying to get robbed or anything)…so if for any reason I missed a weekend visit to your blog…my sincerest apologies.

Ha ha! It looks great SOOC.

Ha…yes! We started the Claritan ritual 2 weeks ago. So early this year. :(

Cool!!! Can’t wait to see what you do with it! And I wish my allergies were acting up…..still HUGE amounts of snow here (we got more this week..bleh).

Ahhh, the allergies… I take flonase year-round for allergies, but I’ve definitely noticed a start to the season as well. Your picture is the perfect representation of spring! Here’s hoping for a mild season this year!

LOve the allergy shot… and can not wait for the tutorial.. Even theough I do not link, I sure do learn a lot.. missed you on Flowers on Saturday

Ha! Ashley that’s so funny! I just took a little pill out of that same green capped bottle this morning!!

For being SOOC, it looks pretty good to me! Can’t wait to see how you jazz it up a bit :)

ahh, yes spring and allergies – kinda synonymous huh?

ug to allergies. I so understand! That is a really awesome bokeh and macro shot;0. Love it!

Cool shot! And made me laugh – Spring is all about allergies for me, too. The pollen got me for the first time yesterday and I had to sigh at the thought of dealing with it for the next month. Especially when I just want to be outside gardening….

Oh my, I LOVE this! Spring is my favorite season but my allergies always get the best of me and I can’t go out and play with my kids half the time.

That is tooo funny, not your allergies but the idea for the shot! Luckily I don’t have many allergies but living in the south even if you don’t have allergies you have allergies!

Great capture, you don’t need to do much at all!! I am thinking the Zyrtec needs to come out soon for me…boo.

Ha, that’s a funny take on the theme. I suppose you could have messed with it and taken a photo of a coiled spring or something springing. :)

That’s a seriously good sooc – I like the depth of field aswell. I’m on those tablets 12 months of the year due to my job plus eye drops.

Hehehe! Your interpretation of Spring is fabulous! Looking forward to seeing you edit this!

Yes, the allergies do herald the return of spring… but I’m looking forward even to that!

This is so clever…I love it!

Great idea for this week’s prompt! Hope they aren’t bothering you too much. I swear I could feel the pollen hit me on Sat morning but it does seem like the rain yesterday helped a bit. Breathing better today. :)

Yuck – allergies! But – great shot! :)

    Great DoF and selective focus.

I love how you interpreted this week’s theme! I am so not looking forward to when things start blooming–my allergies are pretty horrible, too!

I like your interpretation for this prompt! Great job!

i have awful allergies too. beautiful sooc…can a shot of meds be beautiful? yes…ask ashley!

Hilarious! I so totally understand!!! Ummmmm, how can I say this- not bad for a medicine pic! lol

hehe. Way to think outside the box! (and in the bottle instead???) lol!

    Very creative.

Hope this year isn’t so bad… I’ve noticed that my allergies are starting up again… hoping they’ll ease up soon!

OMGosh you too!? (LOL) I have to take and anti histamine EVERY DAY! It’s crazyness bc i’ve always had bad allergies…which isn’t a good thing but what are ya gonna do?! Nice thought for a ‘spring’ prompt !

Thanks for doing this challenge. I learn so much from your edit tutorials. Thanks.
