Saturday night was our “big night in Charleston,” and we started the night with a lingerie shower. I’ll spare you those pictures (only because you’ve all seen someone open presents…you’ll see a couple of shots tomorrow, including Jennifer’s bachelorette crown shown below). After eating a little cake (pictured at the bottom – because I was trying to be crafty with the collages), we called for a few pedi-cabs and hit the road. Aren’t we all looking fabulous?
We have Pedi-Cabs (aka rickshaws) in the Raleigh/Durham area, but I’ve never taken one to get around town. It was so much fun, but trying to photograph the adventure was a bit challenging.
Our first stop…Cypress for some Lavender Martinis. Our local girl in the group said we absolutely had to stop for one drink and it was delicious (I don’t drink as a habit, but I was curious).
I managed to find the recipe for a Lavender Martini online – if you like that sorta thing, here ya go:
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- Ice
- 1 1/2 ounces vanilla vodka
- 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 ounce Lavender Syrup
- 1 fresh lavender sprig
Directions: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodka, lemon juice and Lavender Syrup and shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with the lavender sprig.
After a quick drink, we loaded back into the pedi-cabs and went to 39 Rue de Jean for our dinner reservations. There were three other Bachelorette Parties. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), very few people recognized our bride as being a bachelorette because she wasn’t wearing typical bachelorette gear. More often than not, they thought she was celebrating her birthday. Perhaps we should have added a veil to her custom Paper Mama crown.
Over the course of dinner, we started talking about model eyes. Yes…I was teaching the ladies how to do model eyes. I won’t embarrass Jennifer by posting her attempt (she’s probably already close to wanting to kill me), but it was quite fun.

The night ended at Trio Lounge (a night club) for a little dancing. By this point in the evening, we felt like it was no longer necessary, safe or appropriate to carry my camera around (no one wants to be photographed in a sweaty night club and there are too many people dancing with drinks in their hands). Nonetheless, we had a great time. Now it’s time for Jennifer to get married: May 14th!
By the way, the pretty blonde in pink seen in some of the images is getting married next weekend (April 29th – same day as the Royal Wedding). Congratulations Teran and Matt!
