A few weeks ago, Elena at Selfie Magic prompted us to take a “jumping” self portrait. If you click HERE, you’ll see that she is the master! Me…not so much, but I wanted to give it a good ol’ college try. So, this past weekend, with about an hour to kill, I decided to take my camera and tripod outside. I learned a few things along the way:
- Timing is everything – I ended up with a lot of shots in which I was barely off the ground.
- I have no control over my facial expressions. Although I really tried for a cute smile…it just didn’t happen.
- If you’re going to try a jumping self-portrait, don’t wear a flowy outfit like me.

Thought it’s not really jumping, I love the expression on your face in last picture. I think the one in the bottom left is my favorite jump shot.

funny. i’ve said the same thing about how i make faces in my jump shots. i need a lot of practice too.
oh, yes, and the timing…i have all these series of shots, and in none of them am i off the ground. i actually put together a little gif animation showing just how bad i am and need to post it on my blog soon.
