Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Hey everyone – it’s MAY! Time really flies when you’re having fun, right? And this week I did have fun – hanging out with friends is always a blast (I actually hung out with a few different friends on Wednesday evening but I put my camera away). Unfortunately, we’ve had really yucky weather all week and I hear that tornadoes continue to run rampant. It’s craziness! Anyways, if you’ve been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Cindy and Abby.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge.
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Architecture
Downtown Architecture RS
During my photography “play date” with Casey the other day, we came across this wonderful building – we were especially intrigued by the stair well. So, after watching a guy leave the building, we quickly ran up the stairs. If it hadn’t been so hot and humid, we might have spent a little more time with it but we were anxious to do a little shooting on the train tracks before our stomachs started yelling at us to eat.

2. Rimmed with Light
Kitty Paw in the Sun RS
I was originally going to pull from my archives, but the sun peaked out for a couple of hours on Thursday afternoon. I always love the way the light bounces off her coat. For more “rimmed with light” photos, go HERE or:

3. Toes or Feet
I did not feel like sharing a picture of my toes (not that they look bad, I just need to repaint), but I thought I would share my new favorite nail polish. I should also mention that I am clueless when it comes to nail polish. I don’t value it enough to spend money on it, so I have a tendency to go into the drug store and select whatever is on sale (my favorite price is $1).

4. This is my Favorite
IMG_4325 RS
I had a hard time choosing my favorite shot from my session with Casey. In fact, my absolute favorite is actually waiting to be shared in a few weeks for Shoot and Edit’s “umbrella/rain” prompt (May 16th). However, this would be my second favorite (my third favorite would one of the shots in front of the blue door). I think Casey looks absolutely adorable and I can see this same type of pose being replicated with a child…vintage style.

5. Shade(s)
Bright Future RS
Finally, I took this shot during the bachelorette weekend, but I didn’t get to it for processing until this week. I also wanted to give Nicolasa a plug for her newest photography challenge: Quotography. The above photo doesn’t exactly fit her theme this week: Fun, but I thought I’d still put it out there. I’ll be sure to use one of her upcoming themes for a future Scavenger Hunt.

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post.  Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. SOOC (straight out of the camera)
  2. Sprouting (Cindy’s suggestion)
  3. Isn’t it Ironic? (Cindy’s suggestion)
  4. Lazy (Abby’s suggestion) – here’s hoping that Abby is also able to get a new camera (her’s broke) so she can participate with us.
  5. Smells like Spring (Abby’s suggestion)
Again, thank you to Cindy and Abby for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way…and we’ve got some great prompts coming up in future weeks). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

By the way, I have recently joined another collaboration project with Kayla from Struttin’ My Stuff Photography. Do you remember Hugs from Henry? Wandering the World with Zander is very similar-click on the button below for all the details and sign up if you’re interested. Also, be sure to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 17.  The prompt/theme is “growth.” Happy Shooting!

Those Kitty Paw captures are so awesome…and such a clever “toes” shot!

Great shots. The toes one is my favorite.

    Marla @ http://www.blueskiesphotoblog.com

Ashley you are too clever, your nail polish shot is great! It looks like you two had a great shoot together and I really like the umbrella shot…can’t wait to see what your real favorite one looks like!

YAY! I’m not the only one who didn’t go by the book this week! I LOVE the toes shot (very clever) and you know I love that umbrella picture. Is Target still open this time of night?? :)

love the nail polish photo. Charmaine

Hard to choose, but I think that first one of your cat is my favorite. And you are killing me with next week’s challenge. SOOC? I just don’t know if I can do it!

Love love love your shots!!!! I missed the mark on “rimmed with light”…Hope you’re having a great weekend!!!

    fantastic shots!

Oh what a tough life Kitty Paw has, lounging in the sun is definitely hard work!

And the nail polish reminds me it’s about time for my last pedicure before this kid shows up and I can see my feet again!

Great shots. I love love love the finger nail polish. I love the color and the shot as well.

That is one pretty nail polish shade. Like you, I am not really much into the specifics of nail polish… as long as it’s cheap and the shade is nice, it’s okay for me.

He hee Ashley I managed to pull it together at the last minute for this week and join in. Your shots are great as usual – I like that little touch of blurr around the outside edge of your architecture shot

I just knew Kitty Paw would be per purrfect subject for rimmed with light – that coat looks so lovely with the sun shining on it like that.

I love the kitty in the sunshine and the nail polish ones the best. It makes me wonder how many drips of nailpolish did you drop before you captured just the right one :)

That nailpolish shot is so pretty and colorful!!!

Love that shade of polish! I love your take on this theme. )

These are all great! I love building pictures, the lighting in #2 is gorgeous, great idea for “toes” and the color in the photo is so good, such a cute shot of your friend, and your last one is just plain fun! Guess this means I like them all. :)

That polish picture is fantastic! Love the focus on the simple drop of color. Awesome! That umbrella shot is adorable! I really love your color in processing. Such a great pop in the portraits! The building shot is awesome too! Happy Sunday:-)

love the polish and shades shots!
sounds like a fun week! anything other than what we dealt with this week sounds fun!

hugs and blessings for your week!
    jill

Kitty Paw is always a favorite! I can see why you chose that umbrella shot because they are so fun and Casey is a doll.

Your nail polish shot looks like it was ripped from a magazine! All gorgeous :)

Loving all of these of course…I really like your take on toes :) & Kitty Paw is simply the perfect model for your *rimmed with light*! Have a good one :D

I’m laughing now because I see you didn’t feature feet on your toes & feet post! Neither did I… Great minds think alike? Lovely shots, as always Ashley. I swear your hanging out and shooting around session looks like a blast. Stay safe. Tornadoes are continuing up the coast for a few days yet :(

Love the picture of the shades…and your interpretation for the toes/feet! :)

love the nail polish one. just a beautiful reminder for me to get on the ball and get a mani/pedi asap. actually, i just bought a neat little tool, so i will probably be doing my own this time. :) great photos.

Ok, seriously loving every shot! Excellent as usual.

Glad to see Kitty Paw make an appearance! :-)

I can’t believe I didn’t think of sunglasses as “shades”…love that photo and the quote. Kitty Paw’s life really is getting arduous…my next life I want to come back as your cat.
Casey looks great here and at the blue door-can’t imagine an even better shot.

I have to admit my favourite is umbrella shot again :)

i love all your picture but your cat takes the cake such a beautiful cat

All of you photos are wonderful as usual! :) But, I LOVE the shots of Kitty Paw. WOW! I love how you caught the sunshine hitting on her fur. FABULOUS!

Love all your shots this week! Architecture and ‘this is my favorite’ as definitely my favs…great work!

These are all great shots, Ashley. My favorites are the kitty and the nail polish. Beautiful color. :)

I did an entry for this week, but it may be awhile before I can participate in anymore SHS. My camera is not playing nice…the shutter is being fickle and my autofocus on the lens isn’t working either. My eyes, at this point, are not strong enough to focus properly on their own, so I depend heavily on autofocus.

Even if I can’t join in the shooting fun, I will continue to promote your SHS on my blogs.

Oh my goodness, I am so with you. I hate paying over a dollar for nail polish! My hubs bought me some spendy (heh-I think it was $3…spendy in my mind :D) stuff for Christmas, and I’ve had fun with it. Great shot of the polish :)

Beautiful Kitty Paw shots!!! They are my favorite. I love all your photos though!

Beautiful post again, and your favorite is great
    - very creative colorful toe/feet shot ;)
Thanks again for another week with SHS !

Kitty Paw looks so comfortable basking in the sun! Thanks so much for the shout out! I love that photo and I definitely think it falls into the fun category!

Excellent shots this week. Those photos of Kitty Paw are fantastic.

Great shots!! Loving the photos of kitty paw!

Kristi posted a new Photo Hunt for May… 11 new themes for you to “borrow!”

Love the shots of Kitty Paw! What a cuddly girl she is.

fun nail polish shot!! and love those shots of kitty paw! =)

Oh! Your rimmed with light pictures turned out great! The others are cool, too!

Are SOOC sharpened and resized, just resized, or uploaded as is? I’ve been wondering this for awhile.

Aww! Kitty paw looks like a little angel with that light in that shot!! What a cutie!! :)

    woof Ashley!
    HappyMayDay!
Dogs have pawticure too but the dog spa won’t allow me in! Too bad I would love to have black nails!

Beautiful shots, really like the rimmed with light one, so pretty.

These are all fantastic. I like your rimmed with light the best. Such a cute kitty you have!

I love all your shots this week!

Your architecture shot, somehow, has this magical miniature feel to it. Love the applied texture and the bokeh in the trees, and all the lines…

Kitty Paw and that fabulous stunning light. Wow. Perfect exposure!

The focus and light on your nail polish shot? That looks like a magazine advertisement!

Perfect black and white conversion on the shades. That’s something I really need to work on.

    Awesome job this week Ashley!

    Love the Kitty Paw shots.

Love your take on feet. I’ve tried to take photos of droplets, or things dripping before and am horrible at it. What’s your secret? ;) The photo session with the umbrella looks great.

Ashley, the quality of your images is astounding! I love every single one… but then, I always do!

The rimmed with light and quite amazing. Love the bokeh around it!

Those pictures of Kitty Paw are my favorite so far!! Great job!

Ashley you have gotten so good! I’m always in awe! Can’t wait to see more of your umbrella shots!

Love these shots, your Kitty Paw shots are AMAZING!! Love the nail polish shot too!

I love all your photos, like always. The Nail polish pic for toes and feet is so creative, and it is such a great photo! I love the reflection in the shades!

Acckkk. I missed it again. I feel so behind.

Love Kitty Paw rimmed in light and your toe interpretation…Brilliant!!!!

Kitty Paw should be a cat model. Wow. She is working those rays of light.

Love your nail polish shot – very cool!

Love the Rimmed with Light kitty and have to agree, Casey looks fantastic in that pose above the railroad tracks… Runaway Beauty? ;-P

Oooh I’m so late in commenting, but I LOVE all of these. Especially your Shades shot!! :)

What a lovely shade and shot of nail polish! Hope you are having a great week!

Don’t melt them too long, or they will all be black. Just long enough to have them melt to one another! Let me know how it turns out. I went a bit too long!

Love that first one. And the nail polish – very cool! :D

And #4 is really great. Would totally work vintage style. :)

Ashley….Oh My Gosh…the Nail Polish is Ahhhhhh-mazing!! Love them all.

Great interpretations this week! KittyPaw is as usual so cute, love the light in those shots and the polish dripping is a great idea for the theme, pretty shot!

Haha, I only wish I could get my hands on a macro lens!! I’ve recently become obsessed w/ my extention tubes!

I love the colours the your photos
