Droidography
I don’t have an i-phone…or an i-mac, i-pad or i-pod. According to the commercials, I’m a PC…I operate a Blackberry (not even a cool one)…and I listen to music on a Sony Walkman. Most times, I’m perfectly okay with that position…that is until all of the i-phone users (you know who you are) rub your sweet apps in my face. It’s not nice!

I’m really kidding…minus being a tad bit envious of Instagram and WordFoto. However, the other night, my husband let me play with his Droid Incredible…so I have photos to contribute to the party. YAY!

Last week, Mumford and Sons was in town with The Low Anthem. I’m sure most people have heard of Mumford and Sons…but if you haven’t heard of The Low Anthem, they are a minimalist/folk band said to be from Providence, Rhode Island (I could have sworn they were from the UK…I must be wrong). Here’s their FACEBOOK and MYSPACE page if you want to listen to their music…I suggest you be in a mellow mood.

The concert was at the Raleigh Amphitheater in Downtown Raleigh, NC. Who knew that June 8th would be so hot?! – me. Fortunately, we had incredible seats fairly close to the front. Unfortunately, a pre-concert update told me that I couldn’t bring my camera…so I went naked (not literally…just without my camera). It’s just as well…no one needs to bring a camera to an event where drunken fools are likely to be roaming.

Actually, we managed to avoid any severely annoying people – I think our seats helped. There was this one guy though…about two rows up that I couldn’t take my eyes off (and not because he was an incredible good looking guy). I have a tendency to people-watch when I’m at events…I think it’s natural for photographers, right? Well…this guy was sticking out like a sore thumb. I don’t even think I can effectively describe him but I’ll try. So, he’s wearing a polo shirt tucked into his khaki shorts, has a receding hairline with poofy hair in the back (kinda clown like) and is dancing like the guys from a Night at the Roxbury. I’m sure he’s a very nice, intelligent guy…probably has a great job and a wonderful heart – but he was distracting…just saying! I hope you’ll forgive me for being a bit judgmental.

But all of that is beside the point. We had an incredible time and I’m so glad we went. In a few weeks, we’re going to the David Gray concert. Thankfully, it’ll be INDOORS!!! Happy Saturday.

These are awesome shots. Love the second to last one!

Great shots! I totally get what you’re saying about people watching. I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago at a Phish concert ~ humorous, but distracting. Have a fantastic time at the David Gray concert. Saw him last New Year’s Eve – he’s absolutely fantastic!!

Great shots! Those apps are super fun to play with aren’t they??

Love your shots! those apps are amazing!

Love your shots! Love MUMFORD and sons!! I just went to their concert last week in Maryland and saw them a year ago in DC. LOVE them!

We had a particularly hot day but it poured down rain and cooled things off. (Fortunately, our seats were under the pavillion.)

Now I’m going to have to go through my concert pics and do a post too. :)

Cool phone shots. I have the tendency to ‘people watch’ too!

I’m glad someone else doesn’t have a i-touch or i-phone with instagram. I’m a little jealous of people who do have them. These are really cool though! Love the second to last one!

Such fun shots, looks like a great time!

Wow, I love Mumford and Sons soooo much. Hmmm, one of my roommates last year was from the Cary/Raleigh area. Unfortunately, she doesn’t care for Mumford and Sons, otherwise she probably would have found about the concert and told me about it.

Fabulous shots. Isn’t it so weird to just leave your camera? It freaks me out.

Why yes. I may be a bit obsessive! Lol.

You don’t have an imac??? I’ve never worked on a pc!

Love the shots! Looks like a lot of fun!

Aah – I’m with you on the iPhone jealousy-train. Good work making do with what you’ve got. ;)

Hahaha don’t worry, I would’ve been staring at the guy too. How could you not? Cool images… feel like I’m right there with ya at the concert! And I totally agree about not taking your camera. I would DIE if something happened to it, especially if it was because of drunktards… be it myself or others. LOL

Those are great images capturing all of the excitment of the evening. There are photography apps for androids aswell and some are free.

Great shots! I haven’t been to a concert in so long!!! I think you’re going to have to ask for an iPhone for your birthday. :-) They are a lot of fun (mine’s an old one, but I still love it).

Looove that purple light shot! Looks like a great time was had :)

Glad you don’t feel left out this week! your droid shots are great!

Awww, I don’t have any i-Thingys either. Too far out in the sticks I guess?

Looks like you had a great time at the concert — despite Mr. Khaki-pants doing his thang. :)

Hey, looks like you had fun! I would’ve probably been the same way with the strange man standing out lol. I also wanted to tell you thanks so much for your tutorial and sharing it with me the other day go check out my favorite friday shothttp://beckyscreativecorner.blogspot.com/2011/06/favorite-day-favorite-shot.html, you could see the pixels before I did what you said now it’s awesome!!! I really love that unsharpening mask thing!!!

    These are great shots Ashley!
I do have to say, that I love my iPhone.
So many apps, so little time!! :-)
    Have a fantastic weekend!1

great shots….I am yet to get any of the ‘i’ products! Would love an iphone for the photo capturing too. Maybe someday soon?!!

love your photos! i don’t have an iphone either so i’ve been borrowing my dad’s ipod touch while home. it’s probably a good thing i only borrow it, otherwise i would be using instagram all the time!

What?! no photos of the weird guy with poofy hair?
    No, seriously, these rock!

Very cool photos! I don’t have a cool phone either, but I borrow my husbands iPhone to take photos! I love the tree reflection in the black and white shot!!

Fun photos. Yea I don’t think I would have wanted to bring my camera to a concert. I would have but wouldn’t have. lol. sounds like a fun night.

Love Mumford & Sons! So glad the husband let you play with his Droid so you could link up. :) hope you get an iPhone one of these days though so you can become an Instagram addict. ;)

Man I hear ya with the phone pics! :)

Glad to hear that you had a great time. Thanks for sharing.

You listen to music on the walkman? Please don’t ever talk to me again.

You always crack me up! I love my Storm2- but I am a bit jealous about the instagram thing. Love your shots

    HA! Welcome to the party!!
You know, that’s how I got my iPhone…was playing with the hubbies phone so much he got me my own ;)

You’re definitely not the only one without a high-tech phone. My phone is about as low-tech as it can go; I’m just too cheap to pay for more service. Anyway, the concert looked like a lot of fun – the pictures came out great!

Someone else that loves Mumford & Sons!! We saw them on the 12th in Atlanta – my favorite concert ever. Thankfully, our show was inside. I can’t imagine how hot you must have been.
On a photography note, your photos are great! And you probably enjoyed the show more without your camera (I know I did – I would have been more concerned with getting the perfect shot that I would have missed the show).
