Scavenger Hunt Sunday
You remember a few weeks ago when I said I lost my creative mojo? Fear not my friends, I think it’s back! If not, it’s certainly going to be, as today begins the first day of Kat’s “Finding Your Eye” e-course: Starting the Journey. To say I’m excited is an understatement. Don’t be shocked if I don’t participate in as many photography memes, but DO be prepared to see a new wave of inspiration floating through Ramblings and Photos. I know, I know…I sound like a giddy school girl who’s just been asked out by the hottest guy in high school…I just hope this excitement can beat the heat.

Anyways, if you’ve been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week’s items inspired you. I was pretty inspired…even though some of my interpretations are a bit of a stretch. Just go with it. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Kat, Paper Heart Camera and Jenny Rain.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Music To My Ears
Music Sheets RS
Last weekend while I was hanging with my parents, my mom thought I should have some music to go along with my flute. If only I could remember how to read music. Rather than even attempt to play (because that might inflict a headache), I thought I’d be better to photograph the music…and then of course add textures by Kim Klassen.

2. Hat
IMG_5498 BW RS
This particular prompt would have been a great opportunity for me to take a new self-portrait…it just didn’t happen. Instead, I remembered that Casey wore a hat during our photography date last month (you’ll actually see one more photo from this session tomorrow). I thought my new favorite Hazy Black and White action would be perfect. I love this action!
Photography love...

3. Clear
See Clearly rS
Over the past week, the skies have been gorgeous…a much welcomed change from the rainy days we had earlier in the month. I have a feeling that you’ll be singing right about now.

4. Out Of This World
Hydrangea Circle RS
I was originally going to create one of those circular edits…if you don’t know what I’m talking about, click HERE. I just wasn’t feeling it, so I decided to tap into my inner Anika Toro (Pasando). Anika recently posted a picture in a circular format: HERE. I also applied Pixel Bender (if you’ve missed previous posts using this technique, I talk about it in this post). So, is this “out of this world?” Yeah, I know…it’s a stretch, but the world is round and so is this image…so there.

5. Sprinkles
Sprinkles RS
This particular shot was actually the first one I took for the Scavenger Hunt, and although these are not actual sprinkles, I really like the color and composition. These particular candies are filled with chocolate – I might have eaten them after this photo.

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. Walking Empty Streets
  2. Repeating Patterns (Exploring with a Camera theme – check out post here)
  3. Floor (upcoming Paper Heart Camera prompt)
  4. Then and Now (Jenny Rain’s suggestion: maybe your photos before you started studying photography and now…or a recent remodel, your children, a haircut, etc.)
  5. Fingertips (Jenny Rain’s suggestion)
Again, thank you to Kat, Paper Heart Camera and Jenny Rain for so many great scavenger hunt items. I’ve actually got several weeks worth of prompts waiting in my inbox, but if you’d like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way…and we’ve got some great prompts coming up in future weeks). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Also, be sure to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 29. The prompt/theme is “Laughter.” Happy Shooting!

    Cool pictures!

Gosh I need to start participating again! I feel like I rarely ever pick up my camera anymore (unless it’s for work)! I love the first shot. Should be framed above someone’s piano somewhere!

Great shots and I love your creative interpretations. The “out of this world” shot is gorgeous!

I’m really looking forward to Kat’s class as well! It was so exciting to see some familiar faces!

Very good entries. Love the composition on Hat, Music to, Sprinkles.
Cannot wait to see more of your work after this class. Have fun

Great photos. Love the last one. So bright and cheery.

    great shots.

he he he! you are funny!

    i adore you!

    end of story!

    have a blessed SONday!

That hazy black and white feels so old fashioned in a way. I’m always questioning myself as to what a GOOD black and white really looks like. There are so many ways to do it!

And you know me, usually I can’t stand the look of Pixel Bender, but I honestly love your use of it this time. That looks like one of those illustrations in a old plant identification book. :)

All gorgeous girl!! Hard to choose a favorite, they are all stunning, but I love the round crop of the out of this world, and what a gorgeous purple! I couldn’t participate this week, hopefully next week! xo

Love them all. I always do. But you know I love bright colors and sprinkles shot I would pop on my wall.

love your music one! Your out of this world one is amazing as well! And well your sprinkles, makes me hungry for sixlets! Even though I don’t think those are sixlets! LOL

    they are all beautiful!

your out of the world shot is quite lovely!

Great shots! I love the fantasy feel of the round crop with pixel bender! The music is beautiful, too…they are all terrific!

I am really excited about class myself! I have learned so much from Kat’s site already!

Love that round shot! Gotta try it! And all your interpretations are awesome. :)

Your description on the Other World shot made me smile. Careful though…you sound a lot like me with your justifications and so theres. :)

That said, I LOVE the edit on that shot. Very cool.

I think my favorite this week is your Sprinkles. Love the crispness of it and the bright colors (AND that it’s not sprinkles–ick).

Lovely images, really like the processing on ‘hat’, and your ‘out of this world’ shot is so beautiful. I think my fave is ‘sprinkles’ just because of the composition and colours, and also the fact that chocolate was involved :O)

Awesome Hat shot and I love your Out of This World! Actually I love the whole set. :)

I like the music (because I’m a musician and it’s a great photo) and the candies!

Out of this world is a real work of art. I love it!

You never fail to amaze me with your work. :)

Great set Ashley especially the colours in that pixel bender one. Looking forward to seeing how your work is influenced by the ecourse.

I think your out of this world picture is beautiful!

    Love your entire collection!:)

Love your shots this week! Love the music sheets, great texture work. Love how bright the lollies shot is. I usually can’t stand the pixel bender but it looks great in your shot!

Wow, 22 comments and entries and it is only 6:30 a.m. I know, what the heck am I doing up at 6:30?

Anyways, your creative Mojo is rockin’ today even if you haven’t started Kat’s class.

The first one is so beautiful. Casey is gorgeous, as always. I started singing the tune. And yes, THE SKIES ARE GORGEOUS. I took some shots on the beach this week and WOW!! Love the pixel bender affect. And, I too, love the compositions and sprinkles.

I thought I was going to get to participate this week (and I still might), but I didn’t take my hat or clear photo. We’ll see.

Love those photos! How did you get that crisp, white, minimalist background for the candy? It’s a really great shot.

Also, that self-portrait with the hat. It’s so arty and you’re a really beautiful woman! :)

Ah, gotta love me some Jimmy Cliff!

I am ‘cheating’ this week because I am submitting the photos from my own ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ link up. Not all the photos on there are remarkable although I do really love the one I took of my husband (featured here in the link up). Hopefully next time, I’ll take actual, original material.

    This Good Life

    OMG. You are amazing.

Love the music to my ears shot and those sprinkles are so cool! And insane, those flowers are totally out of this world!!

Love the texture on your “out of this world” photo, and your hat portrait looks great! ;)

Hey Ashley-I too am excited about Kat’s class. My mojo feels like it needs a boost too. Super psyche…see you in the flickr linky.
I agree your sprinkles comp is fabulous. I also like your take on music. So strange that I was stumped on that-guess it proves my shift to visual vs aural artist is happening.
I also how you made out of this world work-that was a tricky prompt.
    Happy day my friend.

STUN.NING!!!!!! I love that shot of Casey!

Oh, your Out of this World is perfection! Do you sell prints? I LOVE it!

Wowzers! These are so amazing! Sigh! Let me know when YOU start a class ’cause I’m signing up!

These are all beautiful! Love the 4th one!

Your pictures are amazing!! I absolutely love the first one!!

Very cool shots! Love the first one!

Your out of this world photo looks like it should be one of those commemorative plates that people buy. Obviously the circle format is playing into that, but seriously it is amazing! Great job on all of them this week. Beautiful!

What a great set – although now I cannot get that song out of my head, and its raining here, how ironic! I love the music to my ears! And those sprinkles look delicious!

love the music shot, but seriously that out of this world shot is GORGEOUS!

    LOVE your sprinkles shot.

Very cool shots. I have so enjoyed going to everyone’s site to see what they’ve come up with…very inspirational. So much fun and what a way to help bring out your own creativity…great idea.

Oh my gosh – my own prompts are now challenging me :) And I have a badge now – so excited :)

I’m a big fan of the last shot! Simple and colorful!

I LOVE whatever flower that is in the circle picture… I suspect I’ll also have to try my hand at making/using a circular mask on a photo or two… Beautiful job, Ashley. And so awesome that you ALWAYS share what you’ve learned.

I really love your take on music (the angle is awesome) and the clear!! Perfect song lyrics to go with it!! Love the vivid colors on sprinkles!!

Another week, another great set of photos! I’m especially loving your “out of this world” photo–the pixel bender effect is pretty awesome. It looks like it should be on the cover of some gothic graphic novel. :D
