Over the Hill…
This past weekend, we celebrated my friend Jessica’s 30th birthday. I always thought that “over the hill” meant you were turning 50 years old, but apparently, that hill has gotten smaller over time. I guess it’s a good thing I have another 10 months to walk over that hill. Either way, I thought you might enjoy seeing a few pictures from our night. Unfortunately, I was working with incredibly dim lighting. Even with my Speedlite, I feel like my photography skills came up short, thus the reason there aren’t more photos from the night. Nonetheless, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL!

Wish her a very happy birthday from all of us, please!

    { and by the way — the photos are gorgeous ! I always find it hard to take pictures of people and things at parties — first, there are SO many people busily bustling around, which makes it hard to get good focus and sharp photos. And the lighting? It’s not always the best. But you did very well! Love the B & W photos! }

No way. 40 is the official start date but even that is young and I am speaking from experience :) You are still a baby at 30!

Girl, shooting in pitch black and getting shots like that mean that you have awesome skills…not that you are coming up short! hehee. You rocked this. And great..so in less than two years I will be over the hill then too! hahaha. Love it!

    So fun! Love the glasses.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! 30 can not be over the hill. I am 32 and still as spunky as ever. Okay, that may be a stretch. Still spunky, but not as ever.

I turned 30 this year and must have gone around my hill, cause I sure didn’t go over it! ;)

    And I LOVE those b&w shots….fantastic!

oh man…looks like i will be over the hill in 7 days!! :/

Ashley! These photos are just gorgeous and beautiful! I thank you did a wonderful job and the candle shots are just amazing!! Love this!!

Looks like a fun time. I love the black and whites!

Happy Birthday to your friend! Love the photos and the glasses! :)

LOVE the black & white pictures!!

    Happy Birthday to Jessica!

The glasses are a riot. :D

Love those gal pal celebrations!! Going to one myself tomorrow night…love those birthday glasses!!

Love the first photo, looks like fun. I think every decade constitutes another hill to be climbed, I’m about to climb the 40 hill, doesn’t seem as scarry as the 30 hill, just older…..

Those shots are great! I can’t believe 30 is considered so old! It really urks me. (because I’m 31 lol) I have a friend that just turned 29 and she says she’s going to cut off all of her hair when she turns 30. I’m not sure why except that she is in mourning or something LOL! I AM NOT OLD!!! ;0)

What a fun time Ashley- I think they came out great & I wouldn’t have known there was a lighting issue if you had not said anything.

Yes the hill is small- however they do say that 30 is the new 20. So since I am well past that point- I am going to run with it. When I turned 30 my son came up with the idea to start counting backwards. When we get to 0- we stop counting altogether :) So this year I will be 25 by his accounting methods :) Totally works for me.

Love the look on her face in the candle picture!!

    Merry Christmas!

Looks like it was a blast! Happy belated B’day Jessica

I’ll be there in about 2 months!! These are great shots and looked like a lot of fun!

30 is SO not over the hill! Happy Birthday to you friend who is very far from being “over the hill”.

What a fun night with girlfriends!
Over the hill? Phooey! Us girls aren’t over the hill until we’re under it! :-)

You did a wonderful job shootin in dim light. BUT…I have to tell ya, I’m 51 and it’s interesting how your perspective of “over the hill” morphs :)

I think you did just fine in that “dim light”. Love that first shot. Low light is definitely an area of weakness for me. Haven’t gotten up to speed on speed light yet.lol. There’s got to be more options though…

First, great job shooting in the dark – LOVE the B&W’s.

Now about being over the hill. SORRY I am not! I will be turning 44 and I can assure you the BEST IS YET TO COME!!!!!

    Love and hugs,

Awww. These are sooo cute. Happy Birthday to her. 30 Over the Hill? Crazy. These probably look better then I could have done.

The photo’s are cute! I know what you mean though, I struggle with low light and my speedlite to. It’s funny though even when I think they are bad other people love them. :)

Happy Birthday to her!! I remember turning 30.. big party.. I cried.. lol. It’s not that bad! ;)

Beautiful pictures.. love the black & white!

I love the black and white. :) Great photos

30 is so not over the hill! silly girls! =)
Looks like y’all had a good time. I love the font you used with the first picture!

Great pictures. It looks like a wonderful party, too.

Great pics! If she is considered over the hill than I am ancient ;o)

Love that you processed these as black and white. Looks like you all had a lot of fun.

Those glasses are hillarious! Ashley, it’s impossible for your pictures not to be gorgeous girl!

Btw, sorry I missed Scavenger Hunt this week. MAJOR computer issues man!

What fun you have captured here! let me tell you that 30 is not over the hill . . .

It is so hard to take photos in dim light and I must say you did a great job! Happy 30th to your friend!

Great photos, especially in such a difficult place. I know you guys are just playing around with friends, but 30 is not over the hill. ;) I refuse to be (way) over the hill.

Great shots…I think the lighting looks great!
    Nice memories captured :)

Looks like such a wonderful time, and I am lovin’ those glasses!!! Too good!

Those over the hill glasses are a hoot! I think I should go tell my sister she’s over the hill!

they look great! looks like you guys had so much fun :)

Haven’t you heard? 30 is the new 10. ;) I don’t see a hill in your future for some time.

Love those glasses! I’m WAY over that hill and onto the next one…..guess I should get a pair for myself. :)

These are so cute…but seriously, is 30 over the hill??? :)

Looks like you had a blast. Love Love the photos. Over the hill is way way too funny but love it. Wonder whats on the other side. :)

Oh no! I always thought 40 was “over the hill”! That is so not fair. 30 is my golden birthday and if ANYONE tries to throw me an “over the hill” party, they will be kicked. Repeatedly. In the shin.

these came out awesome ~ low lighting or not

my goodness if 30 is over the hill, then I’ve been over that hill twice!!

Okay, well then that just sucks. I’ve been over the hill for almost 7 years now and vastly approaching over OVER the hill. I don’t like that one bit. But the photographs are awesome. Looks like you guys had a great time!

    looks like lots of fun,
and believe me over 30 is not bad I think they the best years :) I know I am 36 tomorrow :)))

AHHH over the hill at 30. I have 2 more years left but I thought I had 22. Nonetheless- great pictures.

PS. 30 is not over the hill. lol! ;)

Looks like an awesome night, but definitely not willing to change the definition of over the hill to 30! Lol.

Looks like great times! Happy birthday Jessica!

These photos are great! 30 is definitely not over the hill – we still have many years to climb!! Love contrast of the cake photos!

Well, i guess I already started my journey down the hill! LOL! cute idea though. Looks like fun!
