Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Welcome to another week of Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Last week, I might have seen everything in black and white, but this week...I'm seeing lots of color. I hope you'll like it! If you've been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week's items inspired you too. If you're new to the Scavenger Hunt...WELCOME! Next week's items are sponsored by Kat, Paper Heart Camera and Head Ant.
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You're encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I'm not too strict about it - I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) - you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!
Without further discussion...here are my interpretations this week:

1. Geometry
Circular Pencils RS
When I think about geometry, I break into hives! Math is not my friend...I'm an artist. I kid, I kid. Actually, I started with a Katie Lloyd and Project Alicia inspired colored pencil photo - I mean, pencils are circular, right? I then decided to make a "planet" photograph with the shot to create yet another circle.

2. Brushstrokes

I call this one "This Little Piggy," and if you mouse over you can see the original image I was working with. As you might imagine, I used two layers of Pixel Bender in Photoshop. The first layer created a kaleidoscope effect and the second layer applied the oil painting effect. I just think it looks like a bunch of pig noses...and that makes me giggle.

3. Hanging by a Thread
Hanging by a thread RS
I had a few things in mind for this prompt, then I walked out of the office and saw yet another spider web...calling my name.
MM3

4. Collage Mushroom Collage
I mentioned the other day that you would see more mushrooms. The other day, my husband and I came home to a patch of mushrooms in our flower bed AND a giant mushroom couple (doesn't the last shot look like a couple?) by one of our trees. The light was absolutely beautiful so I grabbed my camera (didn't even bother throwing on my macro lens - these shots were taken with my 50mm f/1.4) and started snapping. The next day, as I was leaving for work, the patch of mushrooms in our flower bed had taken over. I guess I should be careful what I wish for in the future - if you say too many times that you wish you had cool mushrooms in your yard to photograph, they WILL come!

5. On the Dotted Line
On the Dotted Line RS
This might have been the toughest prompt to date...at least for me. I tried a few different things in an effort to be creative, but I settled on a clipping mask effect. I'm extra curious how everyone else interpreted this prompt.

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can't wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures on your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn't participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. Old and New
  2. Night Photography (Exploring with a Camera theme - check out post here)
  3. Music (Paper Heart Camera prompt - consider a self portrait)
  4. Cheesy (Head Ant's suggestion)
  5. Sun (Head Ant's suggestion)
  Photography love...  headant.com
Again, thank you to Kat, Paper Heart Camera and Head Ant for so many great scavenger hunt items. I've actually got several weeks worth of prompts waiting in my inbox, but if you'd like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way...and we've got some great prompts coming up in future weeks). Each week, I will select one reader's prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Also, be sure to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 32. The prompt/theme is "Shadows." Happy Shooting!

Thanks for the hunt. I haven't connected in for a while, but not for lack of wanting to. You got the spider shot I couldn't find...nicely done!! I love the simplicity of the Geometry shot. That's the one that really had me stumped this week. Anyway, thanks for giving inspiration!

Loved every one of them especially that pencil one- I didn't realise at first that it was a planet but I love how there's the reflection inside the inner circle. I see we both thought of using pixel bender for a prompt aswell.

You never disappoint. I love the little piggies. Sam hovered over me saying, "Wait....How....What.....Wait." He really liked it, as did I.

Great creativity for on the dotted line.....Girl, I just need a touch more of your creativity.

Oh my word- love that mushroom collage- I really need to spend more time post processing- on presentation & let myself have the time to get creative. I know you just talked to us about this. Maybe now that my week should be going back to "normal" I can do that. :) Thanks for the inspiration once again!

I've been reading Stasha's The Good Life blog for some time now, always enjoying her Sunday scavenger hunt photos, and today I followed the link over to your site and I am so impressed! I'd love to give this a try some time. The photos shared by you and everyone else really make me think about the list and how the words can be interpreted so differently!

Fabulous interpretations, Ashley! And, I looove how you used the 'planet' feature! I'd never thought of using for anything but with a landscape...awesome! :D

Your mushrooms are so pretty! Whenever we get fungus in our yard, it's always slime mold, which is not at all photogenic and just looks gross. I also love your spider web; it's really pretty!

All these are awesome shots! You know I love planets and that one is really clever! The pixel bendy thing is BRILLIANT ~ I would print that and use it as wrapping paper!! :-) The spider web is fabulous ~ and I reckon you could have got away with that as 'dotted line' too ~ lots of dots, lots of lines!
