Shoot and Edit: Week 37 – Teen or Adult Portrait…SOOC
Welcome to the 37th week of Shoot and Edit: Part 1. Click HERE for all the details and upcoming prompts/themes and past tutorials. This week our theme or prompt is “Teen or Adult Portrait” (this is just a suggestion, you can show us any SOOC shot…much like I did this week). You have until Wednesday each week to link your SOOC shot up on Jill’s blog. On Thursday, you can link up your edits with ME after following some of my tips on how to edit your shots (or just post your edit on Thursday and you can pick up my tips for next week).

The only portrait sessions I’ve done lately are babies. In fact, I met the most adorable three-month old yesterday…can’t wait to share a preview later this week. However, my husband has become a really good muse as of late…especially during our vacation a couple of weeks ago. Here are two SOOC shots taken on day one of our trip (in London):
This first shot was taken inside the Tower of London as we were talking up a narrow staircase. No posing here…more a look of, “seriously Ashley?” You’ll notice that while I had a little bit of light coming from one of the windows, I still needed to pull my ISO up to 500 – I probably could have gone a little higher.

Between me and my self-portraits and my husband’s mad modeling skills, you can see why Kitty Paw has also become a poser. This shot was taken on a wall within the Tower of London, just outside of Tower Bridge. My focus is a little soft, but that’s alright.

I think this week we might talk about using adjustment brushes, in particular dodging and burning within Lightroom. I’ll be sure to review the lesson for Photoshop users as well. In the meantime, be sure to check out other “Teen or Adult Portrait” SOOC shots at:

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve visited London. I just love it there. Always has. Luckily my whole family loves London and my girls have already visited three times in their young lives. We were there in April this year and your shots make me want to book a flight immediately!

These are both wonderful photos! I especially love the composition of the first one. I’m looking forward to seeing how you edit them.

Wonderful SOOC can’t wait to see your edits.

I really like the first one! He looks so dark and mysterious… ;)

Okay, I love the look your husband is giving you. I get it, too. So nice to know there are other husbands out there feeling like mine does.
I can’t wait to read the tutorials!

these are just wonderful SOOC shots! I can’t wait to see your edits and read your fabulous tutorials!!

    Great shots!

Lovely, lovely photos — great angles, too.

Hubs is a handsome devil! I really like the second shot in front of Tower Bridge :)

Lovely sooc’s Ashley – what a look he’s giving you in the first one! I can’t wait for your tutorial on dodge and burning as I’ve never done it in lightroom yet.

Lovely shots. I love your Pov in both shots. Can’t wait to see your editand tutorials.

Love the pics- I have actually been capturing my hubs more than ever lately as well. I am really looking forward to the tutorial as that is something I have never understood & could really use some good info on. You have a way of explaining things so well- so that I can follow. See you Thursday-and probably everyday in-between too :)

I really like your shots! My husband doesn’t really like me taking photos of him either and usually makes up some ridiculous face or pose to compensate. haha.

Very fun shots! I look forward to your tutorial and edits! Glad you had a great trip with so many photo ops!

Yep my husband hates to have his photo taken at all! I love the one on top of the tower.

lol…I love that first one. His look is priceless! :) And I am completely jealous of your amazing vaca…I’ve been loving all your pics!!! Keep ‘em coming! :)

Great SOOC shots! His look in the first photo is one I’m quite familiar with. :) My husband hates having his picture taken.

They are great. The first one has the look I always get from my husband. :)

Can’t wait to see how you edit these, especially with the adjustment brushes! I swear, one of these days, I’m going to convince Captain Husband that I need me some actual editing software. :D

    Great Sooc shots!

So is this his Eminem pose? :D

I like the 2nd shot! Lucky you that he will even pose :-)

    Hugs and blessings – Jill

You’re too funny. At least you got a shot of your husband. I think both shots will be great once you’ve worked your magic.

    Looking forward to your edits!

Uggh. Lighthouse. Tiny stairs… the horror. I can’t bare it.

I love that first shot. Can’t wait to see what you’ll do with it. :)

My focus is always a little soft…I’m partial to that now! Can’t wait to see what you do with these!

That first shot is really great! I’ll come back to see what you do with it!
