Shoot and Edit: Week 43 – Costumes (My Edit)
I’ll make this quick since Rosie completely blew us away with her light box tutorial (just in case you missed it, click HERE).
IMG_9221 CompareMy edit this week was rather simple. Lightroom (LR) has really simplified my workflow. After importing my RAW files into LR, I flag my favorites…and then separate those files (otherwise I’m looking at 300-400 images at one time…scary). From there, I make basic adjustments to one of my files – I find it so much easier to work through one photo beginning to end before I mass edit. Once I’m happy with that first shot, I can select the rest of my series and sync my files.

I suppose I could finish everything in LR, but I still love Photoshop…so, I export 10 images at a time into Photoshop for some fine tuning. I start with a nice color edit, then run black and white conversions. In case you’re wondering, I’m still using the Coffeeshop Blog’s Perfect Portrait 3 (with adjustments) followed by Florabella’s Sweetness (from the Luxe II collection).

So that’s all for me. Don’t forget to check out Rosie’s tutorial. Also, if you’re interested in writing a guest tutorial for the final weeks of Shoot and Edit/Good to WOW, please let me know.

Very nice edit — love how you smoothed his face and really brought out his eyes! Glad you found your new groove with both lr and ps!

Beautiful edit, Ashley :) I just read Rosie’s tutorial and I just have to say, how great it is. I think I’ll read it again so it can all sink in.

    Have a nice weekend.

Beautiful edit, I’m really drawn to the eyes. I think that may be the cutest bat I’ve ever seen!

Well done! The edit is really nice and not over done, which I find easy to do when it comes to people.

Your edits are perfect…not too overdone, which is what I’m working on.

Thanks for sharing your tips with us!

beautiful job! Looks brighter and its a sweet picture :)

glad you are still enjoying LR!

I really like how this turned out. I agree with Kimberly, it looks great without the over editing.
I got Lightroom and I still haven’t used it. I tried once, but I need to make myself learn it. I am just so used to doing all of my editing in ACR and PS.
