Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Exactly one week until Christmas people! Are you ready?

You’ll remember that last week I teamed up with Shondra from Walk with Me and Blues and Pinks to give one lucky Scavenger Hunter a choice of an entire collection of digital papers that are available in the shop, one premade logo or a $25 credit toward a custom logo. This week…we have a winner: #41 - Kimberly from A Fresh Perspective! Congratulations Kimberly. Please email me and I’ll get you set up with Shondra.

With that said, if you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! If you’ve been hunting with me for a while, I hope this past week’s items inspired you. Next week, I’ve decided to give us a week off to celebrate the holidays with our families. If you don’t celebrate Christmas or if you have some time on your hands and you’re looking for something to do…use next week to pull together your photos for Memories, Dreams and Collections which will launch on January 1, 2012 (I’ll remind you again next week). And if you don’t know what I’m talking about…click HERE. It looks like we’ll have a good turn out so I can’t wait to see what you guys pull together.
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. What is it?
IMG_2635 RS
Last weekend, during my session with Liz and Jodie, I was sure to capture their dogs in action. Jodie pulled out what looks to be a duck for them to chase. I don’t know “what it is,” but they certainly enjoyed it.

2. Children/Fur Babies Sleeping
Sleepy Paw
Yesterday, I was editing a few photos for one of my clients when Kitty Paw decided to snuggle up beside me and take a nap. I remembered that I still needed a photo for this prompt and moved off the couch to take the picture. She’s not completely asleep in this picture…probably mad at me because I moved.

3. Joy
IMG_1986 RS
What could be more joyful than a sweet baby boy. This is just one of many photos to come in the next week or two of one of my newest clients, Sebastian. Isn’t he adorable?

4. Window
IMG_2758 RS
Look – there’s a window…on the truck. This is another punishment shot (you’ll remember the first one I shared during my preview earlier in the week: here). The sweet dogs had way too much fun for one day. Between the never-ending field, a swim in the mud and chasing chickens…of course somebody was going to get in trouble.

5. Half
IMG_1772 RS
Do you remember Miss Adeline? I caught up with her last weekend as well for her six month portrait session. In the spirit of Christmas, we wanted to capture her in her cute candy cane dress…in front of the Christmas tree. We also wanted to capture a smile, but she was not having it (apparently, she’s just like her mother in that regard…so I’ve been told). Nonetheless, here is a photo of her upper half at half a year old. Can you tell I’m stretching it?

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures on your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, you’ll have to wait until 2012…but don’t forget to sign up for Memories, Dreams and Reflections!
Memories, Dreams and Reflections
Even though there will be no Scavenger Hunt next week, you can still contribute items to the list for future hunts…just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Also, be sure to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 50. The prompt/theme is “Holiday Traditions.” Happy Shooting!

One last thing…I normally link up with Kat’s Exploring with a Camera prompt for Scavenger Hunt Sunday. This past week, she posted a neat lesson on “Creative Lights.” Here’s her lesson last year called “Star Light, Star Bright,” and then her most recent lesson posted on Friday. I am going to attempt to participate with her at some point this week even though it will not be part of the hunt. I hope you’ll join me.

Have a great week and Merry Christmas!

12/18/11 The Cup Half Full Runeth Over

What is it… sugar, water, mixed and whipped?
The sugar plums and chocolate coins of sleeping children
Spinning tops or watching the train circle the evergreen = joy
From the window candles, blinking bulbs and gathered families
Only half of what can be imagined is what is in the scene

What is it… potatoes, red cabbage, wine, fried onions
The dishes we are asked to bring to feed adults who act like children
Spinning on the dance floor in our finest dress = joy
Looking out the window expecting and receiving snow
Only half of what can be expected when the clock strikes twelve

What is it… the curve and line, the dot making the letter
The words that are read from year to year for the children
To remember miracles both large and small = joy
From the window if you listen the words of worshipers all
Only half of what can be imagined is what is in the scene
