Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Two weeks until Christmas people! In preparation for the big day, my husband and I attended our church’s annual Christmas play this weekend. Every year, I think “wow – could it get any better?” And every year, it does. If only I could share the video footage with you? Since I can’t…I thought I’d share something else. How about a giveaway?

In celebration of the holidays…and Ramblings and Photos hitting 1900 followers, I’ve teamed up with Shondra from Walk with Me and Blues and Pinks to give one lucky Scavenger Hunter a choice of an entire collection of digital papers that are available in the shop, one premade logo or a $25 credit toward a custom logo. If you want to win, all you have to do is 1) join the Scavenger Hunt this week and 2) leave a comment telling me your favorite holiday tradition.

If you know somebody that might like to receive a new logo (gifts for yourself count), Shondra is also offering you guys $5 off any $15 premade logo. Just use the code “RAMBLINGS” at checkout. When they purchase a premade logo, you’ll receive a jpeg, png (transparent background for watermark), and eps (scalable without distortion). Pretty sweet, huh? Thanks Shondra!
Walk With Me: Family, Fun, and Photography

Before we get into the hunt, I’ll tell you that today I will be photographing sweet babies and a beautiful couple. My day is rather busy but I’ll be back later to check out your photo interpretations. So, if you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! If you’ve been hunting with me for a while, I hope this past week’s items inspired you. Next week’s items are sponsored by Michelle and Kamana
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Less is More
String of Lights RS
Do I really need to say anything here?

2. Holiday Lights
Driving through Christmas Lights RS
I took a number of photos last week during our walk downtown that I could have used…but something about this photo kept bringing me back.

3. Ornaments
Ornament RS
Another simple and sweet shot – and look…it’s me. What you may or may not be able to tell is that I’m still hanging out in my pajamas. That’s right – I took Saturday off.

4. Cup of Cheer
Cup of Cheer RS
I don’t drink, but I have an incredible collection of wine glasses. I originally planned on photographing a hot cup of coco, but when I opened my wine glass cabinet (I literally have that many), I thought “what says cup of cheer like a glass of wine…or ginger ale?” Yes, I totally drank my ginger ale in a wine glass for lunch on Saturday. You’d think I’d at least pair it with something special, but I was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. That’s how I roll.

5. Nativity
Nativity RS
My mom gave me a sweet nativity set at Thanksgiving. The pieces are so colorful and fun. I thought about photographing sweet baby Jesus (and I did), but something about this perspective appeals to me.

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures on your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. What is it?
  2. Children/Fur Babies Sleeping (Michelle’s suggestion: 25 Days of Christmas)
  3. Joy (Michelle’s suggestion: 25 Days of Christmas)
  4. Window (Kamana’s suggestion)
  5. Half (Kamana’s suggestion)
  snapshots by Michelle  Photography
Again, thank you to Michelle and Kamana for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list (and I could really use some new items), just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Also, be sure to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 49. The prompt/theme is “Bokeh Lights.” Happy Shooting!

Also, did you see that I’m bringing back Memories, Dreams and Reflections? If you participated last year, then I hope you will be inspired to once again take a walk down memory lane with me and share your favorites moments from 2011. If this is your first time hearing about MDR, be sure to click over and check it out – you can sign up  now and link your photos starting January 1, 2012. Much like Scavenger Hunt Sunday, feel free to write as much or as little about each photo.

Oh, darn, I saw that the linky doesn’t open til 1:00 so I unfortunately won’t be able to link up til the morning. I have got to get to bed, my head has been spinning for the last couple of hours. Finally got my girl in bed, so it is off to bed for me too. Catch you in the morning.

    Love all of your photos!
Your less is more is awesome and I love your ornament and your capture of it.
What a cute Nativity set – it’s so different and unique.
Had to smile at your cup of cheer. I used the song too. I was singing it all day as I tried to finish my shots. :)

Always love what you come up with! The ornament reflection is so pretty, and the nativity scene is adorable!

That’s a great nativity set. Is it paper mache?

Really beautiful set! I love your nativity, cup of cheer, holiday lights…oh, all of them!

I drank my coke in a wine glass…but ended up only using the photo of the can, not the glass :)

My favorite tradition? Going to the interactive play “Journey to Bethlehem” with my family.

Well, I didn’t think I would stay up until 1 to link up, but I had to get myself something to eat to try to stop my head from spinning. So here I am, still up. Now, it is off to bed, I hope.
Thanks for the linky once again Ashley.

My favorite this week is your ornament shot! I love the reflection.

Our favorite family tradition is decorating our Christmas tree the weekend after Thanksgiving and going to look at Christmas lights.

haha – I have an entire hutch filled with crystal wine glasses too (that I Never LET ANYONE TOUCH) and I don’t even drink either!

I love every single one. But especially “less is more.”

Beautiful shots, Ashley! I had to laugh at the ginger ale in the wine glass with a PB&J…love it!! My favorite shot has to be of your nativity. I too like the perspective, it’s one that made me think–from the outside looking in on the miracle of Christmas :)

inspiring photos as always :) my favorite tradition is the fact that I’ve my all family together this time of year. that is why I love Xmas so much.
    xxo

That’s a beautiful wine glass even with that sparkly ginger wine ( a favourite in this house as we make our own sometimes) I really like your nativity shot – it has such pretty colours.

I really love that holiday lights shot in black and white, it really stands out. Love your glow shot in the previous post too, very clever!

Woof, Ashley, I see you in Ornaments and I woofy adore your cutey Nativity!

    Merrily merrily woof!

Ashley, you’ve outdone yourself this week!! Love this set, it’s wonderful!

That nativity is adorable…and I love your “lights” shot!

Great shots, I really like the nativity and the reflection in the ornament.
Oh and my favorite holiday tradition is going out the day after Thanksgiving and eating breakfast and then picking out our tree.

That nativity set is so whimsical! And your wine glass is so fun!

Also, for my entry: my fav holiday tradition is eating latkas with my homemade applesauce and watching the menorahs flicker in the dark!

What a gorgeous set. My favorite definitely Nativity! Have a great Sunday. xxx

Awww…what a happy and colourful nativity scene <3

As for holiday traditions, we’re still a ‘young’ family that’s making new traditions each year. I do love that Santa (sometimes even 2 of them) comes in on Christmas Eve and delivers the gifts “in person” to the kids here. Being an expat, I’d like my kids to experience a bit of ‘my’ Christmas, as well, so I cook 2 Christmas dinners at the same time and serve it all up in a huge smorgasbord for any relatives that want to spend Christmas Eve with us. Then, on Christmas Day, the kids wake up to find that the “Canadian Santa” has delivered presents to their stockings overnight, as well :)

Another gorgeous set! Love your cup of cheer and ornaments! And that nativity set is beautiful!

My favorite Christmas tradition would be shopping for new ornaments with the kids each year. They look forward to it and I love seeing all of their “personal” ornaments decorating our tree.

Great set! My faves are the Less is more and the ornament shot. And the wine glass is so pretty!!

    Hi Ashley,
Great snapshots! Love your holiday lights. Have a great day!

    Food for Thought

Love your shots, as always, but I would LOVE to know where that nativity came from! It is adorable!

Great shots as always – especially like your less is more and ornament shots….

Gingerale in pretty wine glass, PJs in a selfie and gorgeous lights, lights, and more lights. What’s not to love? Great set this week Ashley. Thanks for all you do to make this such a fun linky.

Good morning Ashley. I really like your black and white shot. I really need to start exploring that world again!

I agree with Veronica . . . absolutely drawn to your B&W holiday lights.

Oh my that fi st shot is so great. I love the idea of you having ginger-ale in a wine glass with a PB&J. I like to drink my iced tea in a fancy glass – it makes it feel special.

First- awesome shots as usual- I love your cup of cheer. I too stay away from the hard stuff but ginger ale is perfect for me. I love the idea of drinking it in a fancier way along w/ the sandwich. That totally made me smile. You & I would get along quite well in real life :) Can’t wait to see your session today- that is always exciting. I know they will be fabulous!

Love all of your shots Ashley….especially the first two!!! Yikes….it’s Hank’s Birthday today, so it really is 14 days to Christmas!!!!

AMAZING shots. I love your Cup of Cheer shot. You crack me up ;D

Your Holiday lights is very beautiful and well done B&W photo !!!! And your Ornament is very fresh in its colors !

Gorgeous photos! Perfect for the holidays. I love your nativity set. My in-laws gave us a ceramic one for our wedding, which is beautiful, but your set is more to my taste.

    I’ll link up tomorrow!

Your holiday lights has such a pretty glow. I really like your nativity too.

Loved this set. My fave was Holiday Lights! Great capture!

oh I’m really loving your less is more, and holiday lights, and your cup of cheer. they’re each smashing! thanks for hosting SHS every week, it’s a truly fun place to spend my Sunday mornings!

    Great shots Ashley!

I’m late, but I thought I’d join in the fun.

    Hope you’re having a blessed Sunday♥

Have I mentioned in the last week or so how much I love this challenge? It is so unique and has improved my photography so much! so appreciate your intentional efforts here to create a community and help us all grow!

“Holiday lights” is my fav from you this week. Gonna try my best to join in next week, it’s been too long since I have.

LOVE your ornament and nativity shots! Have a blessed week!

    Nice and festive!

Such festive shots this week!1 LOVE your ornament capture and the holiday lights really captures the whole scene!!
My favorite holiday tradition is going to a local favorite called Dovewood Court. The whole court decorates and goes over the top with the lights and displays!
    Have a good week!!

These are all so amazing! But I just love the reflection in your ornament! Thanks for hosting! =)

You know I really miss not joining in on these, but time is so short at the moment. This weeks list looks so good too. Love the one of you in the reflection. Well I love them all this week. :)

These are all so pretty. The first one is so pretty and simple. I like your reflection in the ornament. :) And the cup of cheer looks yummy! :)

I missed participating this week since I’m on the road, but I love your Less is More!

These are all wonderful Ashley! I love how the headlights sparkle in your holiday lights shot. It reminds me of It’s a Wonderful Life, I guess because it’s in B& W and how the lights are hanging across the street!

I love your ornament shot so much! Thanks for hosting this hunt, it is really fun! My favorite christmas tradition is taking separate pictures of my family members to come up with a christmas collage card to send out. With special needs kiddos, our group shots are less than stellar. It makes everone happier if I hunter for a great shot then make the card happen.:)

I love that you had ginger ale from your wine glass! AJ was drinking (non alcoholic) egg nog from ours this weekend, sometimes its just nice to use a fancy glass!

My favorite holiday tradition is helping my mom change over our china cabinet to display all of her Spode china. Its so much fun, and its something we always do together. Then I go outside and do the lights with my dad :)

I just love this set Ashley. Your Cup of Cheer should be a holiday card!!!

Bright and cheerful lights! Charming Cup of Cheer is great as a greeting card.
Congrats on your 2nd place at iheart faces. Have a greet week!

Shonda I wanna make sure I ahve this correct…to participate in this hop I need to have my photos uploaded by the Sunday 12-18-11 or Tues 12-13-11. I would like to join in on the fun

I got your card and LOVE it. You tow make me laugh:). And great job with less is more…I was going to join this week (then got bogged down as usual and couldn’t) but, I was stumped on what to do for less is more…I figured you wouldn’t want to see me in my skivvies though:)hehe. The nativity angle is beautiful. VEry eye catching so awesome job on that too! You rock as always! After Christmas you and I are SO going to hang out more….count on it.

I love the simplicity of your less is more shot!

I really like your less is more shot and I see that we often share the same philosophy regarding pjs on the weekend… :D

    love the holiday lights shot!
