Welcome to the 50th week of Shoot and Edit: Part 1! Click HERE for all the details and upcoming prompts/themes and past tutorials. This week our theme or prompt is “Holiday Traditions” (this is just a suggestion, you can show us any SOOC shot…much like I did this week). You have until Wednesday each week to link your SOOC shot up on Jill’s blog. On Thursday, you can link up your edits with ME after following some of my tips on how to edit your shots (or just post your edit on Thursday and you can pick up my tips for next week).
I’m not sure that we have any strong holiday traditions…yet. We’re still a young family without children, so the holidays typically consist of loading up the car and visiting our families over a 3-4 day period. As much as we both love spending time with our families, it’s enough to make your head explode in the process of getting ready for it all.
But enough of me sounding like Scrooge…I really do love the holidays. I love to decorate and see people’s homes all lit up. I love to send and receive Christmas cards. I love to wrap presents and I LOVE to put up the Christmas tree. Last night, I decided it was finally time to photograph our tree in all it’s glory. Here’s my SOOC:
I was going for a bit of a twinkly light effect this time so I opened up my aperture and slowed down my shutter speed. Overall, I think it looks pretty good but I plan on adjusting the background just a bit to create a picture perfect image. Not exactly sure that I have a specific tutorial in mind for this week, so you’ll have to come back on Thursday.
With that in mind, we have one final week of Shoot and Edit (good to WOW). For our final week, I’m thinking it might be nice to review our work for the past year in some sort of photo montage or collage. It’s been a great year and I think it’d be pretty cool to see where we’ve been. In the meantime, be sure to check out other “Holiday Tradition” SOOC shots at:
