Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Guess who’s out of the first trimester? Me Me Me! In case you missed my big announcement, click HERE. Now if I can just hang on until 18 weeks when I find out our baby’s gender. By the way…I want to thank everyone for all the congratulatory messages last week. We really are thrilled to be expecting. I do have a question though. How much do you want to read about my pregnancy? I initially thought that I’d keep that chat pretty minimal as this is primarily a photography blog, but a few people have expressed an interest in reading more. I’m on the hunt to find that balance, so I’m open to your thoughts.

With that said, if you’ve participated in the Scavenger Hunt in the past, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Andrea.
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Smile
Happy Glasses RS
I’m hoping to capture some smiles this morning, since I’m doing some head shots for an aspiring actress today. In the meantime, I had to make due with a self-portrait.

2. Stand Alone
Kitty Paw Silhouette 2RS
Two weeks in a row and I’m pulling from my archives. This one was taken over a year ago (last January) and it’s one of my favorite shots of Kitty Paw. I absolutely love this silhouette.

3. Rusty or Something Old
Duke Chapel RS
Last weekend, while my in-laws were in town, we decided to visit Duke Chapel. It’s hardly rusty, but it’s over 75 years old…and incredibly gorgeous!

4. Artificial
Artificial Flowers RS
I have brown thumbs. Before I met my husband, I only kept artificial plants. We still have artificial plants (such as the one above), but we also have a couple of real plants too. Of course he doesn’t count on me to water them…that’s what those watering globes are for.

5. Repeating Pattern
Repeating Pattern RS
This is an internal view of Duke Chapel. The architecture is incredible. I have a few more photos that I hope to share at some point…maybe later this week.

So, what were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures on your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week), sponsored by Andrea of The Art of Life:
  1. Strike a Pose
  2. Footwear
  3. Hobby
  4. Shiny
  5. Color Me Green
Again, thank you to Andrea for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Happy Shooting!

I’d totally love to hear about your pregnancy. I mean, yes, this is a photography blog, but it’s also your blog, and since this is kinda a major part of your life, I love to hear. (:

Gosh, we would feel like we missed out if you didn’t share it with us… do you plan to take some time off from work? is your hubs taking care of the Kitty Paw litter box (heard that’s a no-no for pg ladies), what are you craving? pictures of the tummy, babies room decor…

beautiful shots! love the self portrait – you have a great smile!! I would say the question really is how much do YOU want to hear about your pregnancy. While I’m sure everyone would love to follow your experience, you will also hear everyone elses experiences and suggestions in comments. Sometimes this is incredibly helpful, sometimes, hearing horror stories can be a bit overwhelming :) esp if its your first baby :)

Ahhhh….I love Duke Chapel. It’s so very beautiful and a great place to take photos.

Love the selfie this week too!!

A fabulous series for this weeks hunt. I love the architectural shots at the chapel. But you started with my favorite, love, Love, your smile, which is so wonderfully contagious, I’m sure.

You’ve got a beautiful smile Ashley and as Laura says it’s sooooo contagious. Great architectural shots and I’m looking forward to seeing some more.

Beautiful series, beautiful smile, beautiful kitty and I love your repeating pattern!

I loved your Smile! It’s nice to see you that happy!

Beautiful smile! Also loving your shots of Duke Chapel, such an amazing building!!

Beautiful photos, love your alone shot. :)

I love them all as always. I have the same thing with the plants. My hubs has to do the watering- he loves having them all around- I just can’t remember to care for them.

As far as the pregnancy- I would say that as with everything else on the blog- if it’s something that you are going through at the moment & want to share it with us all- then I would share it. I don’t mind at all- as little or as much as you are comfortable with. I have to say- it’s been fun watching Elena through her weekly updates- so now that it’s ending- it would be fun to watch you through the next 28 weeks or so.

Love them all! Duke Chapel is amazing! And I would gladly read more about your pregnancy.

Great shots! Congratulations on your pregnancy…how exciting :)

I love your shots of Duke Chapel, it is absolutely beautiful!

I think your blog is your space to share what is going on in your life, so if you want to share about your pregnancy, you should!

    Awesome series once again.
I like the playfulness of your Smile shot.
Your Rusty/Old shot is beautiful. Old buildings like that are amazing.
Stands Alone – Fabulous, such a different perspective of KP but very intriguing.
Your Artificial was pretty and very artistic.

I Love your repeating pattern, such beauty and history in the photo. Thanks for hosting!

What a fun self portrait…you have a beautiful smile. Duke chapel is a gorgeous building full of architectural detail. I can’t wait to see more!

Your selfies are always a delight. I’m participating with Urban Muser and hope to get some half as good as yours.
I’d never seen Duke chapel, nice to have those images. KP gets my vote as fave this week. Gorgeous rimmed light. Happy 1/3 of the way thru.

I definitely want to hear more about your pregnancy. I have been following along with Elena’s pregnancy and loving every minute of. Especially since I am done with babies. I live vicariously through you! :)

Ashley, I think this is one of my favorite series of SHS photos. Every single one is a knockout – but I especially love Smile. Every pixel of it just glows with joy.

Love all of these but the old is stunning. Have a great Sunday.

Your stand alone is incredible. I have no idea how to get silhouettes, but now I’m going to figure it out!
    Also love that repeating pattern!

As for your pregnancy: I can’t speak for anyone else, but I follow this blog for a number of reasons, photography and editing being two of them, but not THE reasons. There are hundreds of photography blogs from which to choose. I follow you because you are an exceptional person. You share your faith easily, you share your knowledge freely, and you treat your blog followers with kindness and respect. I’ve come to adore you, and I want to hear about every kick and craving! LOVE the Duke Chapel… =) stunning…

to answer your question… as much as your heart desires! tis a blissful time =) share your joy.

Gorgeous photo of the chapel and I love Kitty Paw! I would enjoy post about your pregnancy if you choose to share. I loved being pregnant. It’s such an amazing time! You should capture as many memories as you can in whatever way you feel comfortable. As real as it seems now, once the baby arrives, you will forget much of it . And after a couple of kids, it really becomes a blur ;)

I never would have guessed the flowers were fake. They are lit perfectly.

As for baby updates – keep them coming! It is such a blessed time in your life.

I love your smile photo. The lighting is gorgeous. Beautiful photos of the chapel, too.

Readers do enjoy personal posts about topics such as pregnancy. Like most topics, I’d keep it in moderation. Personally I’d try for 2-3 posts about it per month, but see what feels right for you.

    I’ll link up tomorrow. :)

Love the Kitty Paw pic! Your smile shot is fabulous!

Congratulations to you! I’d love to hear about how you are preparing for baby – with photos along the way. A lot of changes are in store for you, so tweaking the blog to suit your new phase seems wonderful! Follow your heart!

omg this link up is beyond awesome! I love seeing the interpretations! and your pics are super awesome!!

Great shots! I think you should share as much about your pregnancy as you want to after all this is your blog. I for one can’t wait to hear all about everything!!!!!

I would LOVE to read more about your pregnancy. I’ve been having a blast following Suz’s Treats through her pregnancy. It’s your blog. I say share as much as you like. It will be something nice for you to look back on when your baby is older.

stand alone is gorgeous. LOVE the lighting. :) And the kitty.

Your big warm smiles definitely brightens up my gloomy day. I love old churches even though I am not really a church-goer myself. Beautiful chapel!

Great shots as always! Love the silhouette of Kitty Paw!

I can only speak for myself, but I kind of hoped to keep up with your pregnancy through your blog, so I’d love to read about it frequently. I’m so excited for you!

    Erika B

I’m a little late, but great set! I love your first one! Congrats on being past the first trimester. Such an exciting time!

I can not believe I completely missed your announcement last week. I blame my lack of motivation for my blog and for picture taking on being in the last few weeks of my pregnancy. But I didn’t even stop by to see what this Sunday’s prompts were until Saturday.
Congratulations on your pregnancy. I love your pictures from last week. I had a feeling after reading the first part of your post that you were going to say you were expecting. Love the black and white pictures and your Four shots from last week. And I have to say that Chapel is lovely.
Congrats again. I would love to read and see as much as you are comfortable sharing. So exciting!!

Love your Great Big Smile!! Makes me smile!!

Somehow (and I’m not sure how) I missed the big announcement. Congratulations to you guys! And kuddos for keeping it in for so long! :) Very exciting!!

Congrats on surviving the first trimester! Just keep going now. :)

    Love that second image!!!

Love your first photo. Such a goofball. :)

This is your blog and you should share what you want… and, what i want. Which is lots of pregnancy stuff! ;)

But, really…. it’s not just a photography blog…. it’s your blog. You do what you want. ;)
