14 Week Bump Report - Ramblings and Photos

14 Week Bump Report
Last week, during Scavenger Hunt Sunday, I asked if anyone was interested in reading a weekly or bi-weekly pregnancy update from me. I received one of two types of responses: 1) it’s your blog…share as much as you’d like and 2) bring it on, I love a good bump report. Alright, so I may have ad-libbed just a teeny tiny bit, but you get the idea.

But you’re right, it is my blog. And, as much as I’d like to believe that I’m a photography blogger…I hope I’m so much more (by your sweet comments, I believe I am). With that said, I will share with you as much as I want…when I want (I’m kinda laughing as I type that because it sounds kinda snappy, but I don’t mean it that way). What I mean to say is that you can likely expect a bump report on Saturdays…during even weeks or milestone weeks. Something like that.
14 Weeks - Lemon RS
Anyways, enough of my rambling. I know that I really enjoyed reading Elena‘s weekly updates and seeing her baby bump grow. Now that baby Alexis has finally arrived – someone’s gotta carry on the weekly updates, right? I have decided to borrow her template, but if you have any other questions you want me to answer along the way, just let me know.

How far along: 14 weeks (technically, 14 weeks and 3 days)

How big is the baby: About the size of a lemon, although I’m really not convinced that a lemon is bigger than the peach that the baby supposively was last week.

Total weight gain: During my 12 week appointment, I had gained a solid 4 lbs. Since that time (the past two weeks), I’ve added another pound and a half for a total of 5.5 lbs.

Sleep: Not too bad – I’m naturally a side sleeper but Kitty Paw likes to sleep between my legs which makes it challenging to roll over. I am still getting up to use the bathroom 2-3 times a night.

Best moment of the week: Is it bad that I literally had to look at my day planner to see what I’ve done this week? I enjoyed two things: editing a photo session from last weekend and scheduling my 18 week ultrasound. I’m also looking forward to seeing my cousin (well Jeremy’s cousin) and my mom this weekend for a little “shopping.”

Food cravings:  During my first trimester, I was often asked if I had any specific cravings. To be honest, I was just eating what I normally like to eat but leaning towards peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cereal, raisins, bananas, fruit cups and ice cream. I have since added Spaghetti O’s to the list – this one’s the only one I’ll throw into the cravings category. I will say that I’ve really been wanting an Olive Garden salad. Unfortunately, the OG is not exactly close to where I live or work so I haven’t been able to satisfy the craving. Oh well.

Food aversions: I don’t think I have any although I do prefer fried chicken over grilled chicken. I think that has more to do with my husband’s attempts to eat “healthy” and me getting tired of eating grilled chicken. It’s not like I eat much fried chicken.

  • Gas! I was getting heartburn early on and learned to avoid terribly greasy food, but the gas…I can’t seem to avoid it. I hear it’ll only get worse.
  • My skin has never been ultra clear but lately I’ve gotten a lot more breakouts. Funny thing is that my skin briefly cleared up when I first found out I was pregnant. I thought I’d be lucky and have great skin during this pregnancy…looks like my skin was just playing Jedi mind tricks on me.
  • I was fortunate not to have any morning sickness, but in the past couple of weeks I have gagged quite a bit while brushing my teeth. My mom’s response is “that’s a good sign.” Thanks Mom.
  • Oh and mood swings – not technically a physical symptom but I can go from happy go lucky to psycho in no time.
  • But honestly, other than finally being able to wear an adult bra (kidding), I’m not sure I would know I was pregnant unless I was looking for it.
Gender: We find out March 2nd during my 18 week appointment.

What I’m looking forward to: Seeing a bit of a baby bump (right now, I only have food bump aka bloat), and my 16 week appointment so I can hear my baby’s heartbeat again.

What I miss: Drinking Mello Yello. I know it’s not good for you, but who cares. I do drink one cup of coffee every day, but I try to stick to water the rest of the day. I also miss regular trips to Jimmy John’s. I’m told not to eat cold deli and while I could probably have it occasionally, I try not to eat it unless I know I can get home to heat it up.

Next Appointment: February 16th.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE hearing about pregnancies! I wish you nothing but HEALTH and HAPPINESS! and soooooon those little flutter flutters if your not already feeling them !!!!! I felt them REALLY early with my son! :) Pregnancy is such a gift! BEAUTIFUL photo! :D what a cute Lemon :D :D cant wait to see when your holding the watermelon LOL :)
HUGS! :) you share as much as you want about your pregnancy! those who love your work.. love you… :) and this baby is a part of you!

So great to read your update! I’m so excited for you, however I think there’s something wrong with your post. It seems some words must be getting cut off of the edges… I guess it could be my computer though :0).

I love updates like these. Babies are not in my horizon right now, but I love reading about other peoples baby stories. :)

Fun! I think the problem with the lemon is that it’s not from California. Ours are huge and often much larger than peaches. (The one plus of having a tree in your back yard.) Glad things are going well.

How on earth did I miss that you’re pregnant?? Congratulations! I can’t wait to follow along on this journey of yours! That photo is absolutely adorable!

Oops, I don’t get around to reading as many posts as I would like, but have backtracked on yours now to catch up on the news. Congratulations Ashley, wonderful news.

AHHHH! I know I am so behind in this, but holy crap CONGRATULATIONS! I am so excited for you, you and your husband will make beautiful babies!

Cute post! Love the way you are photographing your bump with the fruit. I also like reading pregnancy updates :) It will be fun to see what clever ways you photograph your pregnancy. Congratulations again!

Hmmm, I have some similar symptoms only mine is menopause! ha ha

Can’t wait to actually ‘see’ a bump there, glad you decided to share. This will be fun!

My blog time has been extremely limited lately and I missed any other pregnancy talk before this. Congratulations!!!

I gagged when brushing my teeth, too. Made for an interesting few months… cause I wasn’t as lucky as you, and also puked for at least the first 20 weeks. ;)

Yay for booking your u/s! So exciting. :D

    Yayayayaya congrats!!!!!

Ashley I gagged while brushing my teeth with all 3 of my pregnancies.

I’m so looking forward to your preggy updates Ashley. Amy is right about those flutters – (just like a little butterfly fluttering inside your tummy) they started with me about week 16.

    Congratulations Ashley so wonderful news:)

You look AMAZING! BTW if you want a real lemon from Cali let me know I have a tree full and peaches have nothing on our lemons here…Love you went with bump update!

Congratulations!!! So happy for you, and I personally love pregnancy updates.

Pregnant! How did I miss this??? Congrats!!!

I will enjoy your updates although I am a LONG way past babies…I have grandbabies now…thanks for taking us along! Have a great weekend.

Sounds like you are able to enjoy the best part of the pregnancy without getting sick or having crazy cravings. That’s great! Lovely dress by the way!! Love that blue color.

I think it was great that you decided to update us on the pregnancy. It’s so awesome hearing about everything. Especially since, now that I’ve had my three, we probably won’t have any more babies. Awesome.

congrats! i love Jimmy John’s too!

I’m so glad you decided to do updates on your pregnancy! Lol about the mood swings; like acne as a symptom, it gets worse before it gets better!

I haven´t been visiting your blog in forever, so I´m thrilled to find out you are pregnant! Gongratulations :) Yay! And please do share about it! I would love to hear about it! there will be enough room for photography stuff too :)

Congrats! I missed the announcement. I love hearing pregnancy updates. Love the shot with the lemon.

I LOVED hearing about all this! Thanks for sharing! I can’t wait till you do another one. :)

Congratulations!!!! I can’t wait to follow you on this beautiful journey!

I love reading this and I’m glad you’re sharing!!!

Love this post. I wish I had thought of doing this while I was pregnant, I didn’t start blogging until after having Baby 1. Best of luck to you, look forward to following you progress.

Keep up the pregnancy blogging – its so much fun to read! And now I want spaghetti’Os…. :)

What a great update! So glad you’ll be sharing. I also really craved Olive Garden salad when expecting. Sadly, we lived in Asia and there was no such thing to be had. It was my only craving and I could do nothing about it! I hope you find a way to get it! Also a gagger with brushing my teeth. Enjoy your little lemon!

Oh my….now where have I been?? CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I’m so happy for you! And so glad that you’re feeling well!!! I’m going to have to make a special effort to be around here more to follow your progress!!! Take care! Hugs!

alright Olive Garden it is…our next date should be there! Let me know when you wanna meet there and we’ll get you some salad:). Oh and I craved beefaroni for weeks and weeks…now I can barely stand it but, the heaviness of it really helped my stomach for some reason:). lol. I’m so excited for your 18 week appointment!

I’m so excited you’re doing this Ashley! I miss those wonderful days and love to relive them through people who are gracious enough to share!

So glad you are doing updates! I’m too lazy to them, but I really should take another bump pic. Oh, and Olive Garden rocks.

I love bump updates!! I was lucky during my pregnancy, my skin never looked better… hopefully it will change back for you! Can’t wait to hear what you’re having. I can’t even tell you how excited I am for you :)

Gas lol. Happy go lucky to psycho lol. Adult bra? LOL!!! Your pic is gorgeous. Love that beautiful blue with the white background and the little pop of yellow. Off to redecorate…

LOVE seeing that little lemon! Such a clever way of showing what’s going on. My daughter used to send out email blasts telling us about which fruit the baby was that week. Your version is more fun! This old wife is going out on a limb of that lemon tree, and saying you are having a “Lucy” lemon..yup I think it’s a girl.

I am so excited for you and LOVE the updates!!

Ashley!! I have been in hibernation from the blog world!! I am so happy for you! Welcome to the most satisfying and frustrating thing you will ever experience in life…parenthood!!!

I love this Ashley…glad to watch this miracle unfold!

Yay! I’m glad you decided to do regular updates. I love the fruit shots, what a great idea! You will get your baby bump soon enough!

I am SO glad you decided to give us a peek into your pregnancy and I LOVE the fruit concept….thinking ahead when you are 9 months along should be fun to see what you come up with. I also love all the little tidbits…the happy go lucky to psyhco made me laugh out loud.

I have been behind on my blog reading. I just saw you’re pregnant! CONGRATULATIONS!! That is so exciting! I love following preggo stories, so keep it coming! :)

You look fabulous. In my day we had to hide under tent-like tops. It is fun to hear how you are doing. It will be interesting to see how Kitty Paw takes to baby. V

YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!!! I’ve been so busy keeping track of my 3 kidlets that I haven’t had much chance to read your blog…I miss that and I missed your BIG announcement!! YAY!!!! I’m so incredibly happy for you!!! & I love reading about pregnancies. Seriously, I have the biggest smile on my face! I’m so excited for you!! Now to try to catch up with some of your other posts…

I have no idea how I missed that you were pregnant, but I’ve been so busy at work, I haven’t been reading blogs, taking pictures or anything! CONGRATULATIONS! Looking forward to hearing all about it. :)

I thoroughly enjoyed your “bump report”!! Loved all of the facts you shared and you will treasure them in the future too! The picture is fantastic!

How exciting.. I think it’s a great idea. I had fun reading it. You know you could just have all “Baby Bump” post put into a hard cover book.. I know there are a couple of company’s that do that kinda thing.

    Hugs, Linda

I love that you are keeping us updated. It is neat to hear about your pregnancy, I’ve had four and still love to hear about, reminisce, and attend baby showers of pregnant friends. So exciting, enjoy your womanhood!

love this post!!! and as soon as I locate the book I will send you the recipe for OG salad… I got that somewhere and it rocks…

and gagging with teeth brushing that I had too….

Happy 14 weeks! I love the bump pics with the fruit! What a cute idea!!

Yea! Love the update post. What a great idea.

I had terrible skin during the first trimester or so, then great skin for the latter part of the 2nd and 3rd and beyond while I was nursing. There’s hope yet ;)

Scheduling that 18 week apt is exciting…then the shopping begins ;)

Such an exciting time!! Love the picture.

What a cute shot! Congrats, by the way. I haven’t made it here in quite a while. I’ve been blogging a lot less. I’m so excited for you! And all of what you wrote is pretty normal. Just one suggestion…if you could cut out the caffeine/coffee all together, that’s better for the baby. Good luck at the ultrasound. I will wait to see if you share the gender with the rest of us! :-)

Awww. Very cute and by the amount of comments I have to say your bump updates are just as popular as your photography posts and you aren’t even linking up anywhere. ha ha.

Anyways, yes I did eat cold deli meat every now and then. I talked to my doctor about subway because I always wanted it and they said their meat is always rather fresh and it shouldn’t have a problem. Just wanted to let you know if you are really craving one, it won’t hurt every now and then. he he. Okay this is a book so I will wrap it up with saying I can not wait to hear what you are having and rub that belly when we come in March. That is if you don’t mind me touching. I will ask because I hated when people just walked up and started rubbing my belly. That is what you have to look forward to when you really start showing.

Phew I think that was the longest comment I have left here.

I’m actually happy to read your updates… it’s like re-living my pregnancies all over. :)

Mello Yello! I haven’t had that in oh, over, 20 years! Didn’t even know they still make it.

i basically live on pb&j and have had SUPER horrible skin this entire pregnancy. babies in our bellies do crazy things! congrats to you mama!!

    So cute lemon bump :)

    I love the bump report.
I must admit that while the nurses advised me not to, I ate cold cuts often. I craved meat and it just want feasible to cook meat all if the time. But I could keep some lunch meat in the fridge at the office.
I look forward to reading more about Baby Sisk.

    <3it!! :)

LOVE the update! So exciting! Can’t wait to find out the gender.

Awwww… Every single time I look at the bowl of lemmons on my kitchen counter, I’ll think of you sweet lil baby bump! Lol)

Can’t wait to find out boy or girl…?!!

hey! Guess I haven’t been keeping a close eye on your blog, but congrats! Casey had told me (sorry if that sounds wierd) that you were possibly trying, so that is super exciting!!! I have two other gals that are just about as far along as you…what a great time to have a baby…praying it goes smoothly and you savor every moment of this!

I agree- someone has to carry on the bump report – I am excited for Elena that her baby has arrived & so excited I get to watch you as you go through the weeks.

I absolutely that you took over after me and the pregnancy updates continue :) really enjoyed reading this!

Lots of exciting things for you! Loved reading this! My skin was clear with all three of my boys…the nicest it had ever been. When I got pregnant for my daughter my skin went wacko and I had break outs the entire time. Frustrating!

You already have that pregnancy brain, my friend. (And, the memory really never comes back fully.) Love ya, girl!

I love baby bump updates! Probably because this factory has shut down so I can now live vicariously through someone else without having to deal with all the stuff that goes along with being pregnant. :) You look fabulous by the way!

Ahhh! I missed the pregnancy announcement! I’m SO thrilled for you Ashley! I would LOVE weekly updates so put my vote in for that. Congrats mama!

AH- this all sounds too familiar! Sounds like you are feeling great and you look great as well! Not to rub it in, but I can’t get enough deli meat now that Little D has arrived. I missed that more than alcohol while pregnant! I’ll bring you Jimmy John’s after Baby Sisk is born!

I am excited to follow along with your journey! How fun. Sounds like things are going smoothly so far ;D

What a fun post! Gorgeous image, and I love this idea of the size of the fruit and comparison. So much fun Ashley!

Adorable photos. I’m having baby fever but my husband and I are a few years from one of our own! Glad to be following along!

I’ve been such a slacker lately. I had no idea you were pregnant! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I was born in August so I’m hoping baby is born the 16th. :) Love the image!

Look at you – what a great update! I was so eager to be out of the “I just look fat” stage of pregnancy. So glad you’re feeling well.

I can believe I missed this what great news! Congrats!!! I wish you lots of love and happiness. Love to see photos of your baby bump…

I always enjoy baby updates so keep them coming. I am glad you have had minimal sickness…..it is no fun. The bump will be there soon….I know the bloat feeling and remember thinking I just feel fat.

I haven’t visited your blog lately and here I come and see such great news, Congratulations!!!

Oh congratulations! You look so great in the photos! What an exciting time for you!

Many congrats, loved reading your story and look forward to following along!
