Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Ramblings and Photos

February 05, 2012
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Not much to say today that I didn’t say yesterday in my 14 Week Bump Report. However, my Olive Garden itch was finally scratched…yesterday after church! Can somebody tell me why that place is ALWAYS crowded? I mean, seriously. Anyways, if you’ve participated in the Scavenger Hunt in the past, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Sacha, Kat and Christian.
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Strike a Pose
IMG_3433 BW RS
Here’s another shot from my portrait session last weekend. I seriously love running into the street to capture shots like this. I guess it helped that the road was mostly empty. If you missed the rest of the session, click HERE.

2. Footwear
Striped Socks RS
In our house, I am frequently made fun of for tucking my pants into my socks. Granted…when you’re wearing leggings and boots, I think it’s appropriate. Don’t you like these striped socks?

3. Hobby
Blogging Selfie RS
Photography is starting to become much more than a hobby (considering I’m charging a fee and collecting sales tax). On the other hand, I think blogging can still be considered a hobby…at least for a little while longer.

4. Shiny
Lemon RS
This might be a bit of a stretch, but I figured as long as I had a lemon laying around…I might as well photograph it. If you’ve ever looked closely at a lemon, the shell is kinda shiny.

5. Color Me Green
Green Eyes RS
I do love my Kitty Paw’s green eyes. In fact, I’ve always been a bit “green with envy” of anyone’s eyes who are not brown. I am really hoping my husband’s blue eyes are passed down to our children.

So, what were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures on your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. Facial Feature (Sacha’s suggestion)
  2. Shadow (Sacha’s suggestion)
  3. Spicy (Kat’s suggestion)
  4. Gold (Kat’s suggestion)
  5. Fabric (Christian’s suggestion)
Again, thank you Sacha, Kat and Christian to for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Happy Shooting!

Love these photos. So beautiful. The last two are great along with the strike a pose.

I think I’ve featured a cat in my last three blog posts. But I think you have too, so I don’t feel so pathetic now. :)

Great pictures. I love the pictures that you are posting of you and the fruit. What a great memory! I love the composition in your strike a pose picture. The model is beautiful!

I think the strike a pose is my favourite . . . like your shiny lemon, too.

I have only just found this wonderful challenge. I love to take photos with my instant digi so not really any good but decided to join in.
    Happy Sunday!
    Your photos are wonderful.

I’m glad you got your OG craving satisfied…as for the crowd, maybe others were having similar cravings ;) It seems that we were both sporting stripey socks this week, and I imagine you’ve started a ‘running into the street’ photography trend now LOL!

    LOVIN Kitty Paw AGAIN!

Loving the lemon, but loving that I am not alone in that photography and blogging ARE my hobbies!

Love, love, love that first shot. And your socks, of course! :)

STRIKE A POSE was my favorite of these :)

Strike a pose is modern and cool !!! Shiny is fresh and sunny pic. Green eyes are so beautiful !!!

amen to tucking pants into socks. I do it all the time. in fact, I have my pants tucked into my socks right now!!

Great shots Ashley! Love the colorful, bright lemon and kitty paws green eyes!

Hi Ashley, oooh I adore your lemon shot! And the contrast of the B&W tones in the first shot are stunning! I will be joining in next week….yay…can’t wait!
    Claire :)

great shot Ashley. Really love Kitty Paw’s bright green eyes :D

Great shots this week, love kitty paws green eyes and your blogging shot!

I just love the light on that lemon! And those green eyes are intense and awesome!

Kitty Paw’s eyes are such a lovely shade of green. :)

I’m a sock gal! Great set, Ashley.

Nothing to be said that hasn’t already been said – beautiful shot of Lily; loved the striped socks (I have some very similar); yes, blogging is a hobby, albeit a very time-consuming one; lemons ARE shiny but I would never have thought of that – now I will notice it; and Kitty Paw’s eyse are truly gorgeous – another fabulous set of shots. I am always inspired by your interpretations!

This is my first attempt at Scavenger Hunt Sunday…it was a lot of fun! Your photos are gorgeous…and congrats to you on soon becoming a Mom! You’re in for the most beautiful ride of your life. :)

This is such a terrific meme: it brings out the best in blogging and I love visiting around.

First time linking up with this Ashley! this is awesome! :D :D beautiful interpretations!

A great series! I love the strike a pose, your stripey footwear (isn’t it normal to tuck leggings into socks??!! Or whatever into socks, especially in winter!), and the colour me green is wonderful!
    Thanks for hosting :)

Love your photos especially your kitty’s green eyes! This is my first time participating and I had so much fun doing it! :)

Love your set! I really like strike a pose, what a lovely girl. I like your hobby also and we are glad it is your hobby!

Love all of your photos and your striped socks are great!

Linking up for the first time today. I had so much fun doing this! :)

Those socks looks really comfy-and I like that shot of you owning the road. My fave this week is that shiny lemon. Hope you’re feeling well.

Great shots! I really like the one of you at the computer, and the lemon, and of course, Kitty Paw. Oh, heck! I like them all.
And, I would trade my blue/green eyes for your brown ones. I’ve always been envious of brown eyes :-)

Yeah- I totally hear you on the eyes. Having brown- I ALWAYS wanted green. My dad has blue & my mom has these amazing hazel. I got brown. One of the things I love the most about my hubs is his blue eyes- I was hoping at least one of the kids would get them- nope. 2 browns & a dark hazel. Go figure. I keep telling him we need to keep having babies until we get one with blue- but he’s not on board with that. :)

    Hi Ashley,
Great snapshots! Love your footwear, those socks are awesome. Have a great day!

    Food for Thought

Love your photos, just love your Kitty Paws beautiful eyes. :)

Love your set – especially the lemon shot! The color is so vibrant!

I love that street shot ! What lens did you use for that shot? Also, what lens did you use for the last picture of lily, it was a close up of her? Great job on her pictures they all looked beautiful.

Love Kitty’s eyes and adore the socks. Thank you for the inspiring (and a little challenging) scavenger hunts each week.

    LOVE the footwear one!

Your photos are just gorgeous! I love the shade of your kitty’s eyes! Awesome shots!

I love the socks and kitty paw with her green eyes.

Congrats on taking your photography to a whole new level. I know you will do well with it!

Strike a pose is a money shot! Yes, if you’re down to sales tax it certainly qualifies for not being a hobby. Your cat’s eyes are incredible…I wish my cat’s eyes were greener rather than gold

Hooray for getting paid photography gigs!! That’s awesome!
Your photos are gorgeous. The street one is my favorite :)

oh, to have a different color of eyes – I have blue – I always wanted brown eyes – have you ever seen a red head with brown eyes? My hubbie has brown – almost black yes – all my kids have brown all – not one blue eye in the bunch! Now, I’m lonely

Great shots – Love Kitty Paw’s green eyes!

they are all wonderful …your pose shot is awesome!!

this is a great group here!!

    Love your first shot!!!! Beautiful!

    Those are some GREEN eyes!

How else are you supposed to wear socks & leggins? LOL!

loving the socks pic!! lol so cute.

I am a little obsessed with striped socks. Since I can’t wear them in shirts I wear them in socks. :)

Love the street shot. Great edit and composition.

Love that bright yellow lemon and Kitty Paw’s beautiful green eyes!

Awesome, Awesome shots. I especially love the one from the shoot in the street.

You are not alone! I always tuck my leggings or yoga pants in my thick socks and I am constantly teased because of that in my house. Love that first shot btw! A girl in the city. Nothing can beat that!

These are great Ashley.Love that street shot and Kitty Paws eyes.

Love “strike a pose”, hope you are keeping well the “two” of you. xxx

You always amaze me with your photography! Love them all! Strike a pose is incredible! And Kitty Paw’s eyes are really green! As far as eyes goes, my husband’s are brown and mine are green … Keira has blue, Nick has brown, and Alex has green. And, yes, they are all our kids. :)

Love the socks photo! I wear my leggings in my socks too.

Kitty Paw has the best eyes!! That STRIKE A POSE looks very Vogue….love the processing. Sorry I didn’t get to play this week….I’m going to work REAL hard for next week…. :-)

Love the shot of you on the laptop. :)

I think lemons are shiny. Terrific pics! Beautiful cat!!!

What an awesome take on the lemon!! You’re right, there is a shine! And the socks…(sigh)

Thank you for stopping by my blog, hope you are feeling well. I always wonder how you get kitty paws eyes so vibrant, they are mesmerizing!

I have these exact same socks!

Yes I love those striped socks!! Kitty Paw’s eyes are so pretty!!

You have a great set this week! I love the running in the street shot. Also hobby is great with the light just coming from the laptop.

Love your socks! Fun socks are the best. Your kitty has such beautiful green eyes. I also have brown eyes but only a few other people in my and Jake’s family have brown eyes. So I think that it would be great if one of our kids had brown eyes so I wouldn’t be so alone. :)

    I’ll link up tomorrow.

I get a little envious of non brown eyed people too. I was hoping that my daughter would get my husband’s baby blues but they are hazel at this point. She is just under two so I have a feeling that they may drift completely to brown as she gets older.

I love those socks and kitty paws eyes! Our Olive Garden isn’t so full, but it has some pretty stiff competition right next door that takes many of the crowds!! =P

I am SOOOO excited I found your blog and this link-up! I will definitely be joining in on the fun next week :)

Ashley – that Strike a pose shot kicks some serious BOOT-TAY!
    Love it.

Love your hobby shot–and can KP’s eyes be any prettier? :D

    Great pictures.

I love your footwear! So comfy! Great take on color me green! Nice!
