Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
This has been another challenging week for our family. As you might have noticed, I did not have a chance to do much in the way of visiting your scavenger hunt interpretations last week. For one, Felicity was quite a hand full. I think she hit her six-week growth spurt…which meant she became a STAGE 5 CLINGER. I’m not complaining – it’s just hard to do anything else. Then, on Wednesday morning, my other grandmother passed away. This now means that all of Felicity’s great grandparents on my side of the family are deceased…and she unfortunately did not have a chance to meet any of them.

On another less depressing note, last week I launched my new website. I had a few glitches on Sunday, so it actually went live sometime on Monday. If you were previously following me via Google Friend Connect, you’re likely not going to get my feed. Therefore, you’ll need to resubscribe. For those of you that don’t know how to do this…scroll to the bottom of this page and look for a little orange button in the footer under “Connect With Me.” Click on that button. You’ll be redirected to a page where you can choose how you want to receive my feed (ex. Google Reader, Bloglines or Email). You can also follow me on Facebook or Twitter where I think my feed will auto publish – and if it doesn’t now, it will.

With that said, welcome back to the Scavenger Hunt. If you’ve participated in the Scavenger Hunt in the past, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Olivia.
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!

Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Mobile

baby bath hair

If you follow me on Instagram (AshleyRSisk), you may have seen a similar version of this image earlier in the week. Felicity has not yet embraced bath time. I, however, am loving post-bath time hair. Look how long it’s gotten! And since I rarely drag around my DSLR anymore, this was taken on my iphone.

2. Hanging by a Thread

Macro Photography Needle I didn’t get very creative here, but I did break out my macro lens…and I took a picture of something other than my daughter, so that’s something different right? Maybe I’ll surprise you again next week with a non-Felicity shot.

3. Collage

I cheated a bit by going into my iphone archives for this prompt. I realized that I never shared some of those very first images from Felicity’s birthday (although these were technically taken on June 30th since she stayed in the Special Care nursery for a few hours). It must have been 2 or 3 in the morning when she was finally brought back to me. My parents stayed at the hospital with me and my husband until she returned so they could hold her. We were all instantly in love. I also noticed when looking through those first few pictures that we failed to get a picture of all three of us (me, my husband and Felicity) when she was born. I guess that’s what happens when you deliver in 2 hours and your baby requires special attention.

4. Always Look on the Bright Side

Sleeping Baby Friday evening, we drove an hour and a half to the visitation for my Ma Ma. A lot of people came out to pay their respects…which meant a lot of people also oooh’d and ahhh’d over Felicity. At six weeks old, it was almost too much – it was too much. While it was important for us to be there, my little girl was very fussy on the way home. Clearly she was exhausted and hungry, but couldn’t go to sleep…and it’s very hard to nurse while in the car (something about safety I think). On the bright side (see how I was able to spin that), she slept through the night and slept most of Saturday.

5. Home

My grandmother on my father’s side, “Ma Ma,” went home to be with her Lord on August 8, 2012 around 2:30 am. Unfortunately, she did not meet Felicity since she’s been too sick to visit us and we haven’t taken Felicity on any road trips yet (with her being a preemie and still only 6 weeks old, I am overly cautious). Last week, she broke her hip and shoulder (I think). She was taken into intensive care after a mix up in her medications that caused her body to go into distress. She then stabilized and I was sure that we’d be visiting her in a couple of weeks once Felicity hit her two month birthday. Unfortunately, that is not the case but I know that she is home now..reuniting with my grandfather (who died with I was very young). Felicity would have been the first of four great grandchildren she was expecting this year.

So, what were your interpretations of the items this week? Be sure to load your pictures on your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week), sponsored by Olivia (and Olivia’s blog address isn’t working for some reason):

  1. Forest
  2. Morning Light
  3. Touch
  4. Newspaper
  5. Coffee or Tea

Again, thank you to Olivia for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way – and I appreciate all of you that have submitted lists already…my SHS file is quite happy). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Happy Shooting!

I am so sorry for your loss, Ashley. Beautiful pictures of your baby girl and sweet grandma.

So sorry to hear about your Ma Ma passing. Will keep your family in prayer.
I love the bath hair shot! So adorable. We all certainly understand how full your hands are, so no worries about blog visits! Just enjoy your baby!

Beautiful photos. So sorry about your grandmother. Will be praying for you all. Glad Felicity slept through the night. Hopefully she will start sleeping more and giving you a break. Have you tried the carrier I gave you yet? I forgot to get you to try it while I was there. It was a big help in that clingy stage.

her hair – look at all her hair! LOVE it! I had such bald babies!!

Love look on the bright side, however so sorry about your grandmother!

Hey there hon… been way too long. I am so very sorry about your grandma, praying for girly. I have lost all my grandparents too, & I know how hard it is. Your little luv bug will get a chance to meet them all one day mama… one day a very lonmg time away. She will have some amazing angels looking over her in the meen time. Oh Ashley, I’m so sorry about your grandmother. It’s so hard to say good bye. hoping your next week is less stressful for you. Sweet shots of your darling baby girl!

I’m so, so sorry about your grandmother. I can’t say I know how you feel (because no one ever does), but I lost both of my grandmothers the same week when I was in high school and it was by far the hardest thing I’ve ever dealt with. I’m so sorry that yours never had the chance to meet your sweet girl.

On a happier note, the new site looks fantastic! So happy you made the big jump to WordPress. :) And as always, I love the sweet pictures of your girl.

That 1st shot made me smile BIG!

Lovely photos of your family !!! They all are cute and very good photos. I also like your hanging by a thread because it is so white and kind of fresh !

So sorry to hear about your grandmother. I will be praying.
I love the shot of the post bath time. Such an interesting expression, and love all that hair.
It was great to see the pictures from the hospital too.
Completely empathizing about the not being able to get anything done. At 5 months old baby Harold still won’t let me set him down for long to get things done, which is making it really hard to get homeschool organized.

I am so sorry to hear about your Ma Ma passing, Ashley. Praying for you all during this time. I loved looking at your pictures this week–very beautifully nostalgic and touching. Felicity is already growing so fast!

Ashley, I am so sorry for your loss, may her memories be for a blessing. Your photos are gorgeous!

Oh my goodness, I love that first shot! Her hair and expression are adorable!

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother’s passing. Your family is in my prayers.

I am so sorry for the loss of your Ma Ma.

That first photo of Felicity and her long locks of hair is so cute! Love it.

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother. Seems to be all around these days- everyone I talk to has lost someone this week, including my hubs- who lost his step mother. Rough times & unfortunately something that will be happening more as we age. It’s so difficult – wish I could be there to give you a hug.

As for the abundance of attention & Felicity not being able to sleep. We went through that a lot- especially with my son. Every time we went out to eat & at my sister-in-law’s wedding, he got over-stimulated & would go into these fits for several hours where he could not be calmed. So stressful becuase you want to help them, you know what they need & you are trying to get them to take it- they just can’t deal with everything they have gone through. It does get easier though- it won’t be long.

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother’s passing. But glad to hear that she is with the Lord right now.

I love your set! The photo of the baby after her bath is adorable! Love that hair!

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I’ll add your family to my prayer list. I, of course, love your beautiful shots of your daughter. That hair is wonderful!! As a quilter, I love the thread shot!!

Oh my goodness her hair!! What a beautiful girl!
So sorry to hear about your grandma. Praying for you!

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your grandma…I’m sending prayers and good thoughts to your family. Your photos are lovely, and I especially like the one of Felicity after her bath. Precious!

My sincerest sympathies on the loss of your grandmother. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Fantastic photos! I love the collage of you all in Felicity’s first hours. It’s obvious that she is a very loved little girl!

    Hi Ashley,
Sorry to hear about you Ma Ma. The Mobile photo of Felicity’s hair is so cute! Have a great day!

    Food for Thought

Hey Ashley-So sorry to hear about your other grandmother. You have had a lot of loss this year. So glad you have also gained so much in the birth of your daughter. Sending symapthy to you and your husband.
You have some lovely photos again this week. I especially like the sleeping angel with gorgeous light.
Haven’t seen much of Kitty Paw since you know who arrived. I think KP and I knew that might happen. Jus’ sayin’. I am sending a little extra love, a treat, and special scratch or two to KP. :)

Great shots, Ashley…what a year you’ve had! So sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Sorry to hear about your Ma Ma, it isn’t easy when a loved one passed away. And it does take a long time for the hurt to slowly dissipate as well. I offer my condolences and wishing your family all the best. Your Ma Ma still lives on in your memory and forever will be.

So very sorry about your Ma Ma, I will say a prayer for you and your family. Take care.

Her hair is amazing. She is so cute but then you know that.
I am sorry about your grandma dying.
    Look after yourself. x

Ashley, sorry to hear that your Ma Ma passed away and that she didn’t get a chance to meet your daughter. :( Didn’t anyone warn you that 6 weeks is when babies wake up and smell the coffee? Six weeks is the point where that easy going baby all of a sudden seems like a cranky fussy mess, but don’t worry, it doesn’t last very long. Just long enough for you to appreciate when she settles back down. :)

    Great photos again.
Sorry about your grandmother. But, you’re right. She’s gone home.
    God bless.

Ashley, I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother, and that she wasn’t able to meet Felicity. Sending prayers for your family.

Your photos are gorgeous. And I love your new look here ;)

Her hair is super cute! And the photo of you and your Ma Ma is just too precious when times like this come. All the best and lots of energy with the baby!

Ashley, prayers to you and your family. Sorry to hear about the loss of your Grandmother.

I like your SH Finds this week. It’s hard to pick a favorite. The tone of this post shows so much love.

Sorry to hear about your Ma Ma and that she missed meeting Felicity. Your little miss is all kinds of cuteness . . . love her hair. I know . . . I say that everytime.

So sorry for your loss, Ashley…so glad you have such beautiful pictures to show your little one someday.

I’m so sorry hearing about your MaMa passing – my condolences. Your little baby is adorable! I know she has very proud grandparents. This is my first scavenger hunt and it was a lot of fun! So I hope to participate next week. Thanks!

I am so sorry to hear you’ve lost your grandmother. She looked like she was filled with a joyfil spirit. Felicity is just a beautiful little girl. I’m glad she’s doing well despite her early arrival.
