Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Welcome back to another week of Scavenger Hunt Sunday. We’re only a few days away from Christmas, but as I am writing this post…I can’t help but think about those who were killed in this week’s elementary school shooting. If you have a moment, please pray for the families of those who lost someone this week…and also pray for those who suffer of depression or mental illness or whatever it is that puts people in a place where they would want to shoot others – especially at an elementary school. It just breaks my heart to imagine my child not coming home one day…or not being there to open her gifts on Christmas Day. What a sad sad week.

With that said, let’s get to the hunt. If you’ve participated in the Scavenger Hunt in the past, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Verna of Lantz…Army of 5.

The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (with so many new participants each week, it’s the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Sparkly

I think every good tree should have sparkly ornaments. Ours is covered in red and white…Santas! I fully believe that Christmas is all about the birth of my Lord and Savior, but I also love the fun that comes along with jolly old Saint Nick.

2. Door

I’ve had a number of Christmas wreaths over the years. One of my favorites was one that a family friend made for our wedding – a simple S made of moss. That one fell apart (sad face). Last year, my mom made us one out of ribbon…loved that one too. This year, my husband picked up a wreath made of Christmas greens. I spruced it up with some ribbon.

3. Decorate

I wasn’t quite sure how to photograph “decorate,” so I decided that I would photograph more of our decorations. This is yet another Santa we have sitting on our coffee table. He’s quite festive I think.

4. Stripes

Felicity in Stripes
Here’s my girl…in stripes. It’s a good thing she’s cute, because she is a stage 5 clinger. The good news is that we’re in our sixth month of breast feeding and it’s going great. The bad news is that we’re also going through a bit of separation anxiety. I can hardly move without her crying. It breaks my heart.

5. A few of my favorite things

I freaking love Christmas cards. Starting December 1, I can’t wait to see what the mail man will bring. Granted, I’m keeping the UPS guy equally as busy, but I really do love displaying pictures of all our family and friends. Quite a good looking bunch I think.

So, what were your interpretations of the items this week? Be sure to load your pictures on your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, your items are listed below, sponsored by Verna of Lantz…Army of 5.

And while I’m here, I have to apologize for not being as active as I once was with the Scavenger Hunt. I know the number of people participating has significantly dropped off…probably a result of me not visiting the way I used to do. I really do feel awful, but I also feel that the time I have with Felicity right now is so precious that I must spend it with her rather than in front of a computer. I am hoping to participate more in 2013, but again…I’m so sorry for not being a more active hostess.

With that said, I hope you will join me for Memories, Dreams and Reflections 2012 which will launch in a few short weeks. If you missed my post the other day, click the button below for all the sweet details.

Now, here’s your scavenger hunt items for next week:
  1. Joy
  2. Tangled
  3. Silver
  4. Guilty Pleasure
  5. Angel

Again, thank you to Verna for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Happy Shooting!

you should not apologize – those of us who’ve had children understand how difficult it is to balance being a mom, having a career & having time for pleasure.
I think people are just busier this year! I know I am – I look forward to SHS – sometimes, the weekend is the only time I have to get my camera out!
Love your “stripes” picture – what a doll-babe!

Oh my goodness….I SO like the ‘stripes’….that is enough to melt a heart!!!! Preciousl

I think the lower number of participants has more to do with the time of year rather than some reflection on your visiting each blogger. That is not to dismiss the value of your visits – it is thoroughly enjoyed and most appreciated – but I sincerely believe that all the scavenger hunters fully understands the demands of motherhood – heck, life in general. So, no apology necessary.

Your shots for this week are a delightful glimpse into your holiday home and Felicity gets more adorable every week, slobber and all.

Hey Ashley-I’m right there with Nicki and Christine. I think we all just do the best we can in getting around to visiting. I’m guilty as well, and I don’t have a cute baby. Take a hostess breath and move on.
The decorations in your home are so cheerful. Must be a wonderful place for Felicity to enjoy her first Christmas-or maybe its her parents that will enjoy the most. Santa was already good to you this year.

LOVE! It’s so super duper cool that yor christmas decorations are mainly Santa based, how fun! I have a thing for gingerbread men, angels and hearts myself but it all has to be red, gold, green or cream NO other colours allowed :)

I adore your Santa on the coffee table he looks so happy. I’m off to the Christmas Shop in our local garden centre to get something special today (it’s one of my traditions).

Love this – PLEASE keep it going next year, SHS has been a revelation for me this year. xxx

Love your decorations Ashley!! No apologies needed, you have such a good reason to keep you busy!

Great interpretations, of course your little daughter in “stripes” is my favorite. But I also love your Santas, and decorations.

I know several bloggers who just quit posting during the holidays. Things are just so busy and I think everybody understands that the mother of a young child has a lot on her plate this time of year.

I really love your Scavenger hunts and am looking forward to MDR next year.

Take care and have a great week!

someone holds theor head up very nicely!! great way to display the picture cards!!

Oh my- these are beautiful! I just love the Christmas cards- funny when you have a lot of photographers sending you cards- you know they will all be amazing :)

I know what you mean. Christmas cards are the MOST EXCITING sort of mail. I can hardly wait to rip into the envelopes! I have been so crazy busy getting all of the families I photographed for the holidays their cards that I haven’t had time to get one for us this year. I might send Happy January cards instead.

I love your santas. And the bright eyes of your beautiful little girl.

I LOVE the drool on that little princess of your. How do you get the bow to stay in?

If Friday’s horrible events teaches us anything, it’s that family matters most. Never apologize for putting them first. We all understand.

Love that baby! She is gorgeous!

Wonderful photos! It occurs to me that you must be tremendously busy with the new baby and all. I do enjoy the challenge of the Scavenger Hunt and sure appreciate you making it available. Hope you know that. Thanks!

What a great crowd of Christmas cards! Every year I think I should make one and send it out, but somehow it never happens!

Love the Santas too. We see Christmas as primarily about Jesus’ birth, but I also see no problem with enjoying the fun parts of the holiday.

    Cutest stripes picture ever!

Oh my goodness, the picture of Felicity is just adorable!

Your decorations are delightful!! Little Felicity is such a precious little Christmas girl! I love the drool that’s running down her chin! I agree with the others that participation has probably fallen due to the busy season…back to school, halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas make this time of year very busy!! Don’t feel bad that you can’t get around to everyone’s blog!!! I would rather you spend time with your precious little girl!!

That drooly face in #4 is just adorable!

No need for apologies. I’m just glad you are still doing the Scavenger Hunt and that makes me happy enough =) You have a lot of Christmas cards! I’ve only received a couple so far!

Hang in there! The velcro baby stage doesn’t last forever. :) Feels like it will, I know…but eventually it will get better! Great photos!

What a cutie….time goes by so quickly! Our grandson turned one this past week…where does time go?

I can’t imagine trying to blog with a little one. You certainly do need to spend the time with her. :-) She is adorable in her little stripes!

You are absolutely doing the right thing! Felicity is only a baby once – enjoy every moment! And I think most everyone is busy this Holiday Season shopping, parties and decorating – but will return after the Holidays :) Merry Christmas!
