Memories, Dreams and Reflections 2012
Memories, Dreams and Reflections 2012
Happy New Year! It’s that time again – Memories, Dreams and Reflections…2012. It’s been an incredible year for our family and I’m so excited to share a look back at our year. With any luck, 2013 is going to be even better…and I really hope to reconnect with all my blogging friends. Thank you so much for all your love and support over the years – I appreciate the much needed (and longer than anticipated) blogging break. You all have been so understanding and I am so thankful to have this time to spend with my young family. Besides, while blogging is fun…what is blogging without great content. Now is the time to LIVE!

Anyways, I’ll get to the photos. It’s nearly 11 pm and while Felicity is snoring next to me…I really don’t want to ring in 2013 with a computer in hand. I can’t wait to see what your year looked like so be sure to link up.

1. Me!

Thinking and Dreaming RS
Need I say more?

2. I Love You

Felicity and Daddy RS2
My husband and my baby girl…I love you both so much. I can’t imagine life without you. Thank you both for an incredible 2012.

3. Still Laughing

Merry Crybaby Christmas RS
I took this photo of Felicity and my nephew on Halloween. My mom wanted the photo for her Christmas card. As you might imagine, we didn’t get two smiling faces…in fact, we got quite the opposite. However, it is still making us all laugh. We’ve set the bar pretty high though as everyone now expects an equally funny card next year. Better put my thinking crown back on.

4. Winter Wonderland

Rainy Wonderland RS
Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t recall seeing any snow in 2012…at least I don’t have a picture of any. When I went looking for a winter wonderland photo, this is what came up. Now I wonder if we’ll have snow this winter. Hmmm.

5. Birthday

The Day You Were Born Collage
Felicity was born on June 29, 2012 – even though I had my big camera on me (in my thrown together hospital bag), these camera phone pictures are just as wonderful to me. She was so so tiny.

6. Friends

BabyQ Collage 2
Just weeks before Felicity’s birth, we had a little Baby-Q with all of our closest friends.

7. I Was Inspired

Azalea Double Exposure RS
At some point in the year, I seem to remember following a tutorial on creating a double exposure in photoshop. I was inspired to give it a try myself and think it turned out pretty good. I’ll have to try it again sometime.

8. Spring Fever

Spring has arrived RS
We were so excited to see some of our bulbs bloom this past Spring. Looking back at this shot makes me excited for Spring to arrive once again. granted, I don’t want to wish time away, but it will be nice to get outside again without wearing a jacket.

9. Travel or Vacation

Wedding - Face Your Fears
A month before Felicity’s birth, we went to a wedding at Bald Head Island. I asked my husband if we went anywhere else in 2012 and he responded with the name of his hometown. So, I take it that the only time we left to go anywhere…was for this wedding. It was quite lovely.

10. Summer Days

NC State Fans RS
My summer is a blur. I had full intentions of taking the last month of my pregnancy off from work to sit by the pool and float. That didn’t happen since I went into labor on my last day of work. I almost shared a photo of a bottle being heated up but that seemed lame. Instead, I thought I’d share a photo of me and Felicity watching an NC State game. I’m not sure she liked what she saw.

11. A Day in My Life

Laundry Girl 1 RS
New photo alert! My days are pretty simple…I wake up around 7 am courtesy of Felicity’s internal alarm clock. We go downstairs and play until she’s ready for a nap…and then I start on my chores. As of late, that usually consists of 2-3 loads of laundry every other day. I found out the other day that Felicity doesn’t mind sitting in the laundry basket as I remove clothes from the dryer.

12. All Smiles

Smile RS
So, she’s not actually smiling in this shot…but the shirt is worthy of this particular prompt.

13. Autumn Harvest

Autumn Family Photo RS
Autumn is my favorite season. It seems only appropriate then that we take a family photo in a pumpkin patch. Love this one.

14. Family or Home

Thanksgiving Family Portrait RS
Another family photo…in case you weren’t sure what my family looked like from the previous photo.

15. Celebrate

Stained Glass Christening RS
This past weekend, Felicity was baptized. She was wearing a gown that was well over 100 years old…it was gorgeous. Here she is with her grandmother in front of a stained glass window in honor of my grandmother. Definitely cause for celebration.

16. Let’s Do It Again

IMG_3247 RS
This was the first year we’ve ever woken up at our house on Christmas morning. We decided several years ago that whenever we had children, we wanted to spend Christmas Day at home. It was really so nice to spend the day together as a family. We’ll definitely do that again!

17. I Miss You

Grandma 42112
I really miss my grandma. Both of my grandmothers died this year (all of my grandparents are deceased now). I was really close to my maternal grandmother though and I really wish she was here to spend time with her great granddaughter. That said, I know that she’s probably spent a lot more time than I realize with Felicity.

18. Beautiful

Tutu and Pearls RS
Yeah…I’m a bit partial.

19. Dress UP

Our Little Zebra RS
This year Felicity dressed up as a Zebra for Halloween. Granted, we didn’t go trick or treating, but you know this mama had to get a photo.

20. Macro

Butterflies RS
I’m not sure that this fully qualifies as macro, but I like it…so we’re going with it.

21. Holidays

Visit with Santa 2012 RS
We had so much time meeting Santa over brunch a few weeks ago. I know for fact that I was more excited than Felicity…and I’m even more excited about next year!

22. My Favorite

Glasses 1 RS
I absolutely love this shot.

23. Don’t Ever Change

Sleepy Smiles V2 RS
Felicity was only a couple months old when this shot was taken. I remember looking over at her sleeping and thinking to myself, “please stay little.” I know she won’t be little forever, but I hope she decides to stay close to her mama…just as long as she doesn’t plan to sleep with her mama forever.

24. Just Because

IMG_3287 RS
This photo goes out to our friend Beth who gave Felicity this fun mustache pacifier. I had a little photo session with it the other day. Felicity didn’t exactly want to suck on it, but she still looks pretty cute.

25. Hopes and Dreams

Bokeh Walk RS
I don’t even know where to start. Six months ago, I quit my old life and became a mother. I knew it would be a significant change, but I had no idea. Most days I am lucky if I take a shower and if you ask me if our daughter is “sleeping through the night,” I’ll be sure to tell you yes…but I probably won’t tell you that she is sleeping in our bed. My hopes and dreams are no longer for myself – my life is no longer mine (ha, it never was)…life continues to be about this precious little girl and I pray that God continues to lead me in the right direction.

The beauty of “Memories, Dreams and Reflections” is that you don’t really have to photograph anything new, but share photos you’ve taken all year long. Want to join us? Here’s how:

  • Grab the button above and feel free to share it on your blog.
  • Go through your 2012 archives and select photos that represent each prompt (or take a few new photos).
  • Feel free to write as much or as little about each prompt as you’d like.
  • Feel free to post more than one picture for each prompt if you think it’s necessary (I will likely only post one picture per prompt). If you don’t have a picture to represent the prompt, skip it…participate as much or as little as you’d like.
  • If you use any photos that are not your own, please provide a source.
  • Link up between now and January 20, 2013.
  • Have fun!

  • Now that you've linked up, here's next week's Scavenger Hunt Sunday list sponsored by Susan. Be sure to come back on Sunday and link up.
    1. Breakfast
    2. Multi-Colored
    3. Starts with the Letter C
    4. Roll
    5. Future (provided by the Project 52 Project I'm joining)

Again, thank you to Susan for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

    Happy Shooting!

Your favorite made me laugh!! You had an awesome year – here’s to another one!

I absolutely love that shot of Felicity in the laundry basket. :)

Such a blessed year you had – takes me back to my first year with my baby girl (now 19 going on 20 — not sure when that happened). I have thoroughly enjoyed following along your journey this year and look forward to 2013.

2012 has been such an amazing year for so many people! Here’s hoping you and yours have an even better 2013!!

You make the most beautiful pictures!
I admire your talent. Also want to thank you for this opportunity to look back and share our year in photos.
Have a very happy New ear 2013!!!

These are beautiful! It seems like such a long time ago that my baby was little. You’ll always cherish the time you decided to make her your priority. Wonderful captures.

Love all the photos of Felicity. My daughter and I loved the one with the glasses! She is so adorable. Enjoy this year of being a momma… its the best, isn’t it!!!!

Wonderful collection! That photo of Felicity in the pink dress with the pearls is one of my favorites of yours from this year. Have a blessed 2013!

LOVE the shot of Felicity in the basket! :D And that tutu.

And you look so much like your grandma. ♥

Thanks Ashley for doing this again, it’s always good to look back at the year that’s been. It looks like a wonderful & life changing year for you. Felicity is gorgeous. Happy new year to you!

Happy New Year! This is such a great collection of photographs. Felicity is beautiful, and it was so fun to see her get so big through this set of photos!

I enjoyed seeing your 25 images. I’m going to have to go with the laundry basket shot as my favorite. It is so playful. I was glad to again see that shot of you and your grandmother. My grandmother passed more than 10 years ago, but she is still with me so often. I bet you will hear yourself say things to Felicity that your grandmother said to you.
Happy New Year and many thanks for keeping the SHS alive. Sometimes it’s the only blogging I do all week. I never want to miss it. Looks like I better get going on those prompts since their mine. No time for slacking!!

      Happy New Year!

These are beautiful. That little girl of yours is just gorgeous and I love the “beautiful” prompt. Oh, I love the basket one too… oh and your favorite. They are just so sweet. Anyhoo, I haven’t been around in the blog world a lot lately so I didn’t know you had taken a break as well, but I feel ya. I didn’t join in on the link up, but I just wanted to say I really enjoyed seeing your images.

Beautiful shots! You daughter is just gorgeous! Love the one of her and her cousin crying.

A beautiful collection of photos, Ashley! It is funny how becoming a mother completely changes your outlook on life.

These moments are all so breath taking. Being a mother and a child of God is the best that it gets, in my opinion. All of these pictures SHINE, and Felicity is precious.

      Happy New Year! xo!

Great collections! I really love your “sill laughing” and “beautiful” shots! thanks for hosting!

She’s adorable! What a great year you all had!

Thanks for hosting Ashley! I thought I’d never finish this post! Should have started working on it when you first announced it! Your photos are lovely as usual. It has been a joy to watch Felicity grow and to share in her life in some tiny way this year. Thanks for sharing your life and your talent! Blessings in 2013!

LOVE seeing how much Felicity has grown in the past few months! Glad to see you’re all doing well. :)

Beautiful captures each and every one! You have most certainly had a memorable year. May 2013 bring you even more blessed memories.

Ashley, you’re photos are ALWAYS breathtaking… Wishing you much happiness in the new year!

Hi Ashley, I linked up incorrectly for the challenge. I haven’t figured out how to delete it from your site yet so can you delete it and I’ll try again later? Thanks!

What a memorable year you’ve had! You have a beautiful little family :) Happy new year!

Well, I never got around to posting my MD&R. Insert sad face. With no internet while out of town for the holidays and having another child to care for I just didn’t find the time.

However, I thoroughly enjoyed scrolling through your picks. So many wonderful memories and so much change. May God bless you even more in 2013

As always, I love reading your words and seeing your beautiful images – what a lovely year you have had! Thanks for hosting this reflection blog – love it!
Wishing you a year ahead of more wonders, dreams and fabulous times :)
