This past weekend, we visited my in-laws. The 3.5 hour drive makes it difficult for us to see them as much as we’d like. Thankfully, technology has helped us keep in touch during the weeks in between.
So, since her cousin Carter was having a birthday, we thought it was the perfect time to come up to see everyone.
But before the birthday party, we took the time to visit with Nanny and Papa. While we visited, I made sure to take a picture of them together. They’ve been dodging my camera for a long time so I was thrilled to finally capture them on film. I also wanted to photograph their old cabin again. This time, I added a oil painting effect to it.
And of course, I made sure to photograph Felicity with her great grandmother. Well, one of them. Makes me wish her other great grandparents could have held her.
Then we walked the land a bit. I photographed the azaleas and dog wood blossoms while Nanny told Felicity stories. It was so beautiful, had we not needed to go back to the house for a nap, we could have stayed outside all afternoon.
It was the first time since forever (reminds me of Frozen) that Felicity didn’t cry everytime someone else other than me held her. What a blessing!
From Nanny and Papa’s house, we went back to my in-laws’ home so Felicity could take a nap…and be ready to play at Carter’s birthday party.
Once she woke up from her nap, she was ready to “pay,” and I was ready for someone else other than myself to entertain for a bit. Her cousin, Alyssa, immediately scooped her up once we arrived at the party and took her to play. Felicity smiled from ear to ear.
She wasn’t quite ready for a full on jump, but she sure did love watching the other kids in action.
And she had her first experience with sidewalk chalk. Yep, I think we’ll do that again.
Oh…and here’s the birthday boy himself!
On Sunday, we went to church. Before it was time to leave, I took Felicity out on the porch to rock. She looked so cute, I had to take her photo.
She even went up to the door to give it a kiss.
That afternoon, we changed clothes and went back over to Carter and Alyssa’s house to play. Felicity found an old tricycle. She was very curious about how it all worked. She tried convincing others to play with her, but they were too busy jumping in the bouncy house.
Then she decided that she was ready to try jumping again. I took advantage of the situation and photographed all three of them together. Alyssa and Carter look pretty happy. Felicity doesn’t appear to be happy, but I promise she was.
See…here she’s playing peek-a-boo.
Oh look, a huge smile. Even if I blew out my highlights.
Finally, before it was time to go, she made a run for it.
Anyways, we had a wonderful time. I worried that she’d be really upset about leaving. Thankfully, we had done our best job at tiring her out so much that she didn’t have any fight left in her. In fact, on Monday, she took an almost 4 hour nap. Good times.
