Anniversary Cake!

October 22, 2010
I love love loved our wedding cake. When we were planning our wedding, I went to a bridal show for “inspiration.” To be completely honest, I thought the whole thing was a waste of time with the exception of CAKE TASTINGS! I hadn’t quite figured out what type of cake we’d have at our wedding…I just knew that we’d probably use a local baker – one who typically baked pound cakes and decorated with fondant. That would have been all fine and good until I had a taste of a sweet potato cake. I remember leaving the show with my mom talking about how much I...
Macro Friday: Harvest Moon

September 24, 2010
ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/200 (55-250 mm lens w/ tri-pod) On Tuesday, I traveled to Detroit for the day. I’m thankful that I didn’t have to spend the night in Detroit, but the trade-off was a lack of sleep (for whatever reason, I don’t sleep well before my husband or I fly even though once I’m on the plane…I fall right to sleep). I often have a hard time catching a decent sunset during the summer, but as soon as the seasons start to turn, our skies on the east coast become God’s canvas. It is truly incredible....
The Bug

September 03, 2010
Over the weekend, we visited my husband’s family in the North Carolina mountains (well close…but if I told you exactly where, you’d just be confused) to celebrate my husband’s birthday (which was yesterday…happy birthday sweetheart). On Saturday, we ran a few errands in town and then planned to go back to the house. Well…we forgot to grab a key to the house – so, when we got back to the house, we were locked out. Fortunately, I had my camera plus two lenses including my macro lens. It was pretty hot and humid but I was determined to take advantage of...
