Spiderweb Bokeh

August 05, 2011
Linking up with Hallie Westcott for 50mm Friday.I’m always in awe of other people’s spiderweb photos, but never seem to run into them myself…that is until the other day on my way to lunch. Thank goodness I carry  my camera with me everywhere because I was quickly able to snap this shot. Not only did I capture the spider, his victim and his web…but I also captured that beautiful, bright bokeh! I applied Kim Klassen’s latest Magic Texture pack in post-processing. By the way, our niece will be visiting us for the weekend. I will still have Scavenger Hunt...
Boom, Boom, POW!

July 08, 2011
This year, we celebrated Independence Day with our friends Karen and John. You might remember Karen and John from THIS POST – I had the treat of taking their wedding “day after” photos.  John’s Grandfather’s flag – he fought in World War II.I’m pretty sure that we would have grilled hamburgers and hot dogs had we not gone over to Karen and John’s house…which would have been fine. But, thank God they invited us over – we had steak tips, bratwurst, grilled vegetables and HOMEMADE (hand-churned) ICE CREAM (peach and mint chocolate...

I suppose that hasn’t always been the case. I used to spend my summers in a swimsuit at Camp Don Lee. I hardly remember it being so hot and humid then…although, I guess it didn’t really matter considering we wore so little clothing. My skin would turn golden brown during those summers. In my adulthood, summers aren’t nearly as fun…summer days are just like any other day. I still...
Portrait Session with Casey

June 17, 2011
Last Tuesday, I met up with Casey from One Day at a Time at Duke Gardens for an impromptu portrait session. We decided in advance that we’d take turns in front of the camera. Casey looked gorgeous. I can’t say the same for myself since it’d been at least eight hours since I’d gotten ready that day. Nonetheless, here’s a sneak peak of our afternoon together.I love the light in this photo…and of course Casey’s smile.     For those of you that don’t know Casey, she’s a complete goof. Luckily, I’ve got the evidence to prove it!But...
