Scavenger Hunt Sunday
I may be on vacation, but that won’t stop me from posting my Scavenger Hunt Sunday photos. I hope you’ve participated – there’s a McLinky at the bottom of this post. Here is my interpretation:

1. National Pride
National Pride
I’ve already shared this photo with you for POTW Thursday. Since that time, I’ve found a pretty interesting website: HazelMail. I was in the process of considering ordering 50 free oversized postcards from Vistaprint (they’re always giving those things away) when I found HazelMail. Essentially, Hazel turns your photos into postcards and then prints, stamps and mails them for you for $1.50. You can prepay for 26 postcards (26 for the price of 24) so it seems like a pretty good idea…and I believe you can earn points through Delta Airlines. I haven’t tried it out yet, but I thought I’d share the service with you just in case you were looking for such a service.

2. Sunset
Sunset
I took this shot on July 4 as I was setting up for the fireworks…I mean, as I watched our friend set up for the fireworks with his tripod (we’ve already established that my photos were a big fat fail). It’s not my favorite sunset photo, but it’s the only one I took this week. My goal is to capture a sunset on the beach.

3. Fire
Flame
I really love that I can achieve the above shot by simply turning out all the lights, using a low ISO and a tripod. I have another shot that I’ll share next week for another project, but I love a simple candle glow.

4. Favorite
I decided for “Favorite” that I’d share some of my favorite things and also combine with Divas and Dreams Free Creative Workshop. I’m a little late on the first assignment:

The photo challenge: Show me who you are by collecting some personal stuff that describe your personality. What objects do you have that describes you the best? Find the things that symbolize you, what you love, what you dream about, what your history are etc. There is no limit on who many or few things to show.

The written assignment: Pick 3 things that you chose to photograph and tell why you chose it or what it tells about you.

Free Assignment Every Thursday

Rainbows
I did not photograph an entire collection of favorite things, but my list is fairly simple. I’ve already shared tons of photos of Kitty Paw – of course she’s my favorite…and you know I love York Peppermint Patties. In addition to Kitty Paw and Peppermint Patties (and my husband, engagement/wedding band, etc) are my Rainbows. I was first introduced to Rainbow sandals in 2000 when I was dating a guy from the beach – although I think it was more like all the girls on my hall in college were wearing them. I have two pairs: brown and pink. The brown pair is much more broken in and is molded to my foot. They are seriously the most comfortable sandals ever and I think everyone needs a pair…or two (or if your my brother-in-law’s girlfriend…four or five).

Computer
Next up, my computer…and obviously my camera (lens, accessories, etc), but I was using my camera to take this shot. I spend a lot of time on my computer and as another blogger described it (forgive me for not remembering which one), I enjoy the actually process of photography, but I spend way more time editing, blogging and reading other blogs/websites. Some of my coworkers will tell you that if I’m not connected, that I’ll start twitching, but I promise that’s not the case. You’ll notice that I’m a PC – and a Dell at that. It doesn’t give me much of a problem and I honestly don’t know any better so it gets the job done. I’ve asked my husband to set me up a nice work space in our office area with a large monitor and more hard drive space. He assures me that it’s in the works.

CTC
Finally, my favorite cereal – Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Part of me feels silly for loving a “kid’s cereal,” but I really do love it and eat it almost every morning.

5. Sepia or B/W with Selective Color
Sepia Turtle
I shared a black and white photo with selective color earlier this week, so today I thought I’d share a sepia toned image from the zoo. Yeah…I didn’t take this photo during this week, but I haven’t shared it with you yet, so it still counts. Besides, I’m hosting this month so I can establish the rules! I think some photos just call for this type of effect and this is one where it didn’t really require much. I almost feel like the turtle is coming out of the glass case onto my screen or out of the screen even!

Did you join the scavenger hunt this week? Use the McLinky below to link up. I can’t wait to see your interpretation! If you’d like to participate next week, here are your items:
