It’s been a long time since I’ve participated in I Heart Faces’ Fix-It Friday, but this week’s photo inspired me, so I thought I’d give my take on it. Before I share my fix, I want to thank Michelle for providing such a beautiful picture of your daughter. Here is the SOOC shot:
There are so many things that I love about this shot, but it starts with the lighting and the lighting is so pretty. I’m sure she would have loved to have her daughter look up a little more, but there’s something really sweet about the look on her face. Having a clean shot with clear focus and proper exposure really allowed me to be creative with my edit.
For my edit, I ran through my typical workflow which includes a quick run through Adobe Camera Raw and Amy McMaster’s Squeaky Clean (I know, it’s not free anymore but I still love it…if you’re nice, maybe I’ll make something similar when I upgrade to CS5) in Photoshop Elements 7. I then cropped in closer to fill the frame – I LOVE fill the frame shots.
From that point, I applied two textures:
- Paris Old World Texture by Love that Shot (I think). It was given a soft light blending mode at 80% opacity.
- 10.10.10 by Kim Klassen set to a hard light blending mode at 15% opacity.
Of course, I erased most of the texture from her face and around her hairline. I then applied Strawberries N’ Cream by Paint the Moon for a pretty pink finish. What do you think? For more fixes, go to:
Have a great night! I hope to see you on Sunday for Scavenger Hunt Sunday!
