Shoot and Edit: Week 1 – A Touch of Snow SOOC
Welcome to our first Shoot and Edit weekly challenge.

This week our theme or prompt is to show us one shot SOOC that says “winter” to you (this is just a suggestion, you can show us any SOOC shot).  You have until Wednesday each week to link your SOOC shot up on Jill’s blog. On Thursday, you can link up your edits with ME after following some of my tips on how to edit your shots (or just post your edit on Thursday and you can pick up my tips for next week).

On Saturday, we received just a touch of snow. It was kind of weird…we were on our way to the gym and it was pouring in (although not really sticking). When we walked out of the gym after our workout, it was gone. Then an hour or so later once we were home, it did it again. I quickly pulled out my camera to prove that it had actually snowed. Here is my SOOC shot:

For those of you that are not used to looking at EXIF data, I thought it’d be helpful to share mine for the above photo (I pulled it from Adobe Camera Raw). According to this, it appears that my shot is under-exposed (it’s spiking on the left side of the screen – proper exposure is meant to have data across the spread)…however, I used spot metering on the snow as to not over-expose the snow…and not lose the detail. To be completely honest, I’m very pleased with the SOOC shot. On Thursday, I will keep my editing basic.

Next week’s theme is what says “good-morning” to you? With that said, be sure to check out other “winter” SOOC shots at:

I will be back on Thursday with an edit and some editing tips. I hope you’ll come back to post your edits too. Have a great Monday!
