I have a few favorite moments in my week. One of those moments is editing for Branson’s Edit Me challenge. It’s during these moments that I really let my creative juices flow. For this week’s challenge, Vic from A Cup of Freck (and also one of the amazing ladies behind For the Love of Blogs) is judging. I really like the photo this week, but I almost didn’t play along – only because I’ve already seen so many “Rock Star” edits. So…I decided to take a trip out to left field and bring you something completely unexpected! Here’s my edit:
I bet you didn’t see that coming! How’d I do it? I’ll never tell. Actually, if you’ve already become familiar with Pixel Bender (links to Flickr group – prepared to be amazed) then you know the joys of it’s Oil Painting effect. However, there are a number of other techniques built into Pixel Bender that I’ve been wanting to try…one of which is the kaleidoscope effect. For whatever reason, I really think it works with this shot. If you’re interested in trying out this technique, you can download the plugins here:
- Download pixel bender CS4 version
- Download pixel bender CS5 version
- Download pixel bender toolkit version 1.5.1 to work without photoshop win/mac (if you use Photoshop Elements, there is no plug-in…but this version is a great tool to use outside of PSE)
What do you think? Here’s the original shot in case you didn’t see Branson’s original challenge page. For more beautiful edits, be sure to check out Branson’s blog. Also, don’t forget to check out this week’s incredible giveaway sponsored by Rachel of and then, she {snapped}.
