Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Welcome to another week of Scavenger Hunt Sunday. This week, I’m seeing almost everything in black and white. In fact, I nearly proposed us doing an entire month of black and white, but I don’t think I have the discipline for it. I’m also noticing a ton of negative space…specifically on the right side of my frames. I need to do a better job of shooting my subject on the right instead of always putting them on the left. But enough of my ramblings…if you’ve been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by the ACoLab and Anika Toro.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
The rules are simple:
  1. Anyone can participate.
  2. You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
  3. If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
  4. Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
  5. Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
  6. Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:

1. Against the Light

IMG_6574 Blog I took this photo last Sunday while our niece was visiting us…in those 30 minutes before we had to hit the road. I don’t even think I was thinking about this particular prompt when I asked her to stand by the door. I certainly didn’t ask her to look so concerned, but I love the way the way the light illuminates her body. I also think this really works in black and white.

2. Frame within a Frame
Waiting RS
I have to admit that I originally had another image for this prompt. I had hoped to capture something while I was out and about…but it never happened. I didn’t really like my Plan B, but fortunately Plan C emerged. That’s right, yet another shot of our front door and Kitty Paw. This is a pretty common occurrence around our house.

3. Best Part of My Day
Roll Over RS
The best part of my day is coming home and being greeted by Kitty Paw. On this particular day, I actually decided to come home for lunch. Kitty Paw has gotten rather lazy about meeting me at the back door when I come in…so, I went upstairs to hunt her down. Within a couple of minutes she came walking out, and I had my camera in hand. Whenever I have my camera out, she seems to fall down and pose for me. So cute!

4. Buttons
IMG_6559 RS
This one is a bit of a stretch…button nose? Actually, I was fully prepared to take some sort of still-life button shot…then I ran across another shot of our niece (I hope you aren’t tired of looking at her yet). She’s got so much personality in her face – I just love it!

5. Ink IMG_6492 RS
When I saw “ink,” I immediately thought of tattoos. I don’t have any myself, but my husband has one on his right arm. You can kind of see it peaking out of his shirt. Alyssa also had a fake tattoo on her arm. Sure, I could have taken a close up shot of their “ink,” but isn’t this shot sweet?

What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures on your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
  1. Geometry
  2. Brushstrokes (ACoLab prompt)
  3. Hanging by a Thread (Anika’s suggestion)
  4. Collage (Anika’s suggestion)
  5. On the Dotted Line (Anika’s suggestion)
Again, thank you to the ACoLab and Anika Toro for so many great scavenger hunt items. I’ve actually got several weeks worth of prompts waiting in my inbox, but if you’d like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way…and we’ve got some great prompts coming up in future weeks). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Also, be sure to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 32. The prompt/theme is “Bright and Colorful” Happy Shooting!
