Our niece came to stay with us this weekend. We’ve been asking her mother (my husband’s sister) if she could come to stay for a weekend for quite some time…I guess our persistence paid off. Anyways, we had an incredible time (well I assume we had an incredible time, I wrote this post on Thursday so I could put away the computer and enjoy our time together) and I’ll have plenty of photos to share from our time together later in the week.
In the meantime, may I present to you Scavenger Hunt Sunday: Office edition! Although not planned, it seems as if my interpretations this week (minus one) have kind of an office theme. I guess that’s what I get for avoiding the outdoors…I mean, it’s hot! Either way, if you’ve been participating in the Scavenger Hunt each week, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Kat, Chelsea and the August Photo Hunt.

- Anyone can participate.
- You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
- If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
- Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
- Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
- Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:
1. Seeing Double/Two

This is actually my one interpretation that is not “office” related. Actually…I really struggled with this prompt, especially since “two” is an upcoming Mortal Muse prompt (meaning I needed to shoot more than one “two” photo). On my way home from the gym, I decided I would pull together a self-portrait…diptych style. I promise I worked out before taking this photo…the black and white treatment is covering up all the sweat.
2. Whatever

I didn’t mean to take this prompt so literally, but my manager keeps a “So What” sign in his office. Years ago, these signs were created as part of a presentation skills training program…as an individual practices their skills, other participants are encouraged to hold up these signs if they feel the presenter isn’t getting to the point. You might think it’s a harsh way to deliver feedback, but apparently it was pretty effective. These two words have given my writing more focus…sure, I do plenty of rambling (I mean, my blog is called “Ramblings and Photos,”) but I find that when I ask myself the question, “so what?,” that I write with more purpose.
3. Sweet

On Thursday afternoon, I kept thinking to myself that I needed to take a shot of something “soft.” Um…our prompt is “sweet.” Blond moment. Anyways, I probably could have waited until our niece arrived…captured her doing something sweet and then scrambled to post it, but I didn’t want to rush things. Instead, I opted for a Tootsie Roll. Why a Tootsie Roll, you might ask? Our receptionist keeps a little candy bowl (including said Tootsie Rolls) full for our office visitors. Around 3pm every afternoon, I find myself hitting up the candy bowl for something sweet…and chocolatey. The Tootsie Rolls just hit the spot…what more can I say?
4. Space…

…or rather, Spacebar.
5. Bright

I actually saved this shot from my post on Tuesday…you know, the one with my new day planner? The colors here actually look a little pinker than they do in real-life, but they are still very bright and happy!
What were your interpretations of the items this week? I can’t wait to check them out. Be sure to load your pictures in your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week):
- Against the Light
- Frame Within a Frame (Exploring with a Camera theme – check out post here)
- Best Part of Your Day (Chelsea’s suggestion)
- Buttons (Chelsea’s suggestion)
- Ink (August Photo Hunt prompt)
Again, thank you to Kat, Chelsea and the August Photo Hunt for so many great scavenger hunt items. I’ve actually got several weeks worth of prompts waiting in my inbox, but if you’d like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way…and we’ve got some great prompts coming up in future weeks). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Also, be sure to come back tomorrow for Shoot and Edit: Part 1, Week 31. The prompt/theme is “Turn the Hose On!” Happy Shooting!
