Shoot and Edit: Week 37 – Teen or Adult Portrait…SOOC
Welcome to the 37th week of Shoot and Edit: Part 1. Click HERE for all the details and upcoming prompts/themes and past tutorials. This week our theme or prompt is “Teen or Adult Portrait” (this is just a suggestion, you can show us any SOOC shot…much like I did this week). You have until Wednesday each week to link your SOOC shot up on Jill’s blog. On Thursday, you can link up your edits with ME after following some of my tips on how to edit your shots (or just post your edit on Thursday and you can pick up my tips for next week).

The only portrait sessions I’ve done lately are babies. In fact, I met the most adorable three-month old yesterday…can’t wait to share a preview later this week. However, my husband has become a really good muse as of late…especially during our vacation a couple of weeks ago. Here are two SOOC shots taken on day one of our trip (in London):

This first shot was taken inside the Tower of London as we were talking up a narrow staircase. No posing here…more a look of, “seriously Ashley?” You’ll notice that while I had a little bit of light coming from one of the windows, I still needed to pull my ISO up to 500 – I probably could have gone a little higher.

Between me and my self-portraits and my husband’s mad modeling skills, you can see why Kitty Paw has also become a poser. This shot was taken on a wall within the Tower of London, just outside of Tower Bridge. My focus is a little soft, but that’s alright.

I think this week we might talk about using adjustment brushes, in particular dodging and burning within Lightroom. I’ll be sure to review the lesson for Photoshop users as well. In the meantime, be sure to check out other “Teen or Adult Portrait” SOOC shots at:
