It’s hard to believe that Felicity is already three weeks old…especially considering that she isn’t supposed to be here just yet. Today, we’re heading back to our pediatrician for a weight check and lactation consult. We’re hopeful that Felicity has finally reached her birth weight and that we can continue moving forward with exclusive breast feeding. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers if you would.

Earlier this week, I met up with Sarah Halstead to take a few newborn photos of my baby girl. Sarah posted some of her favorite images from our session the other day. In case you missed it, click HERE (please do – she did a beautiful job).

Interestingly enough, even though my sweet little girl spends 90% of her day sleeping…the moment my camera came out, Felicity decided it was time to wake up and scream.

Needless to say, I learned a few more lessons about newborn photography. Lesson #1: just because you are a photographer (and have photographed other babies before) does not mean that you are immune to your baby crying when you want to photograph them being sweet and cuddly.

I also learned that no matter how hot you think it is…and no matter how milk drunk you thought your baby was…it’s probably not enough.

However, I’m pretty sure that a baby with an upset stomach is going to be hard to settle down for photos even if everything else is just right. My sweet little girl has a bad case of gas which seems to be settled only by laying on my chest (as she’s doing right now). Sweet…yes, but also very difficult to photograph at the same time. Lesson learned…hire a professional even if you are a professional – sometimes, it’s best to be JUST mom.

Nonetheless, we captured some sweet moments and I’ll share even more of those moments on Sunday during the Scavenger Hunt.
On another note, my husband and I have been working on a website redesign for most of the year – obviously, we haven’t worked on it with any sense of urgency. We’re finally ready to go LIVE with www.ashleysisk.com which means a couple of things.
- If you follow Ramblings and Photos via RSS feed, you’re all set.
- If you’ve been following me via Google Friend Connect, you will need to subscribe to my RSS feed in order to continue following me.
Our plan is to go live by next weekend so I’ll continue to send out reminders but I wanted to give you a heads up. Let me know if you have any questions. Otherwise, have a great weekend. I’m planning to share photos of Felicity’s nursery tomorrow.
