Guess who’s back?! For those of you who might have missed it, on June 29th, I had a baby. Sarah Halstead quickly picked up for me while I adjusted to life with a newborn. I wasn’t sure how long I would be away, but I feel like I’m getting my groove back – rather, I’m learning how to operate in my new reality. I can’t promise that I’ll be back to a full blogging schedule anytime soon, but I would hate to be away from Scavenger Hunt Sunday for too long…to be sure I can take five photos each week, right?
Anyways, welcome back to the Scavenger Hunt. If you’ve participated in the Scavenger Hunt in the past, I hope this week’s items inspired you. If you’re new to the Scavenger Hunt…WELCOME! Next week’s items are sponsored by Jenny Rain.
- Anyone can participate.
- You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
- If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).
- Link up here on Sunday (or Tuesday at the latest) – you can use the button above.
- Leave comments for at least five entries around yours (we have so many new participants each week, this is the only way I know to be inclusive).
- Have fun!
Without further discussion…here are my interpretations this week:
1. Water

I’ve been spending a lot of time with water lately. Because Felicity was born early, the doctors and nurses wanted to closely monitor her feeding (she lost about 12% of her birth weight). Unfortunately, going straight to breast feeding wasn’t an ideal option for her situation. Rather than move straight to a 100% formula diet (which for me wasn’t an option), I requested support from the lactation specialists to help me serve expressed breast milk via pump. Up until Friday, I was still pumping every three hours…followed by cleaning my pump parts…followed by adding 3/4 of a teaspoon of formula to my milk (to add calories)…followed by labeling/refrigerating my bottles…and finally, feeding my daughter via bottle. The whole process was time consuming but I felt it was the best possible solution at the time. However, her pediatrician said I should start moving towards exclusive breast feeding on Friday. So far, we’re both loving it, so keep us in your prayers as we start the breast feeding journey – the last thing we want is a set back in weight because I’m breast feeding instead of tracking exact feed amounts.
2. Petal

I’m sure it would have been better to photograph one large petal…but I’ve had a busy week, so I pulled a recent photo I took of the flowers by our front door. There are many petals in this shot.
3. Fresh

I seriously considered taking a photo of my husband changing Felicity’s diaper – you know, “fresh diaper.” Instead, I am sharing this photo of my dad holding Felicity. I’m fairly certain she was kicking and screaming because she was in the process of unloading a fresh poop.
4. Eight

Last weekend, my husband’s sister and her family came to see Felicity for the first time. It was Felicity’s eighth day of life. Furthermore, our eight year old niece is in the background of this image.
5. Calm

Most of our days are pretty calm right now. Felicity is such a sweet baby. One of these days I need to capture her emotional exercises. While she sleeps, she makes little faces that range from smiles to frowns. It’s adorable.
So, what were your interpretations of the items this week? Be sure to load your pictures on your blog (or your Flickr photostream) and link up at the bottom of this post. Feel free to grab a button to display on your blog along with your scavenger hunt items. The linky will be open until Tuesday night at midnight (EST). If you didn’t participate this week, but want to participate next week, here are your items (these can also be found at the bottom of my blog each week), sponsored by Jenny Rain:
- Wrapped
- Time Together
- Tell Me a Story
- Love or Couple
- Duplicated
Again, thank you to Jenny Rain for so many great scavenger hunt items. If you’d like to contribute items to the list, just send me an email with your suggestions (I can better keep track of them this way – and I appreciate all of you that have submitted lists already…my SHS file is quite happy). Each week, I will select one reader’s prompt list, add those items to what is currently on tap and give the selected reader a shout out on my blog during Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Happy Shooting!
