Last weekend, I met up with an old college friend downtown to take a few photos of her beautiful family. I haven’t seen Annie in about 10 years so it was great to catch up.
Interestingly enough, it was Facebook that brought us back together after all these years. As much as I loath the social media tool from time to time, it does help me stay connected with people that I might have otherwise lost contact with.
Annie was actually dating her now husband when I knew her 10 years ago. Now, they have two beautiful daughters. The oldest of the two, Gracie, and I became best friends during our session.
Actually, it took us all a little while to warm up. I sometimes forget that a December morning in downtown Raleigh is rather chilly. While I definitely wanted to take some photos in the middle of the hustle and bustle, I also wanted to find heat…where are you sun?!
Fortunately, my husband tagged along (he wheeled Felicity around while I worked the camera). He knows the downtown area way better than me, so he suggested we hit up one of the “sky scrapers” for an indoor window shot. Unfortunately, the building was closed but we found this great alley while we walked towards the Capital building.
Once we made it to the Capital, Miss Gracie was all sass! She was quick to pose and show me what she thought would make the best pictures. FYI: If you ever have a grumpy kid during a photo session, I find it works wonders to let them direct the shoot.
I mean, look at this smile…this is a happy kid! But even the happiest of children need a little encouragement.
How about a Mother/Daughters photo? I’m really loving this baby hair. Felicity’s hair is starting to fall out even if she does have a lot of it. But Annie’s 10 week old, Elizabeth – her hair sticks straight up!
As we neared the end of our session, we decided to sit down for a few photos. I actually think this has real Christmas card potential.
Finally, a Daddy/Daughter moment. Priceless!
With all that said, I’m going to run. Felicity and I have been a bit under the weather this week…thus the reason that this post didn’t launch at midnight as I typically prefer. Either way, we’re on the mend and resting up. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
