Memories, Dreams and Reflections 2012
Memories, Dreams and Reflections 2012
Happy New Year! It’s that time again – Memories, Dreams and Reflections…2012. It’s been an incredible year for our family and I’m so excited to share a look back at our year. With any luck, 2013 is going to be even better…and I really hope to reconnect with all my blogging friends. Thank you so much for all your love and support over the years – I appreciate the much needed (and longer than anticipated) blogging break. You all have been so understanding and I am so thankful to have this time to spend with my young family. Besides, while blogging is fun…what is blogging without great content. Now is the time to LIVE!

Anyways, I’ll get to the photos. It’s nearly 11 pm and while Felicity is snoring next to me…I really don’t want to ring in 2013 with a computer in hand. I can’t wait to see what your year looked like so be sure to link up.

1. Me!

Thinking and Dreaming RS
Need I say more?

2. I Love You

Felicity and Daddy RS2
My husband and my baby girl…I love you both so much. I can’t imagine life without you. Thank you both for an incredible 2012.

3. Still Laughing

Merry Crybaby Christmas RS
I took this photo of Felicity and my nephew on Halloween. My mom wanted the photo for her Christmas card. As you might imagine, we didn’t get two smiling faces…in fact, we got quite the opposite. However, it is still making us all laugh. We’ve set the bar pretty high though as everyone now expects an equally funny card next year. Better put my thinking crown back on.

4. Winter Wonderland

Rainy Wonderland RS
Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t recall seeing any snow in 2012…at least I don’t have a picture of any. When I went looking for a winter wonderland photo, this is what came up. Now I wonder if we’ll have snow this winter. Hmmm.

5. Birthday

The Day You Were Born Collage
Felicity was born on June 29, 2012 – even though I had my big camera on me (in my thrown together hospital bag), these camera phone pictures are just as wonderful to me. She was so so tiny.

6. Friends

BabyQ Collage 2
Just weeks before Felicity’s birth, we had a little Baby-Q with all of our closest friends.

7. I Was Inspired

Azalea Double Exposure RS
At some point in the year, I seem to remember following a tutorial on creating a double exposure in photoshop. I was inspired to give it a try myself and think it turned out pretty good. I’ll have to try it again sometime.

8. Spring Fever

Spring has arrived RS
We were so excited to see some of our bulbs bloom this past Spring. Looking back at this shot makes me excited for Spring to arrive once again. granted, I don’t want to wish time away, but it will be nice to get outside again without wearing a jacket.

9. Travel or Vacation

Wedding - Face Your Fears
A month before Felicity’s birth, we went to a wedding at Bald Head Island. I asked my husband if we went anywhere else in 2012 and he responded with the name of his hometown. So, I take it that the only time we left to go anywhere…was for this wedding. It was quite lovely.

10. Summer Days

NC State Fans RS
My summer is a blur. I had full intentions of taking the last month of my pregnancy off from work to sit by the pool and float. That didn’t happen since I went into labor on my last day of work. I almost shared a photo of a bottle being heated up but that seemed lame. Instead, I thought I’d share a photo of me and Felicity watching an NC State game. I’m not sure she liked what she saw.

11. A Day in My Life

Laundry Girl 1 RS
New photo alert! My days are pretty simple…I wake up around 7 am courtesy of Felicity’s internal alarm clock. We go downstairs and play until she’s ready for a nap…and then I start on my chores. As of late, that usually consists of 2-3 loads of laundry every other day. I found out the other day that Felicity doesn’t mind sitting in the laundry basket as I remove clothes from the dryer.

12. All Smiles

Smile RS
So, she’s not actually smiling in this shot…but the shirt is worthy of this particular prompt.

13. Autumn Harvest

Autumn Family Photo RS
Autumn is my favorite season. It seems only appropriate then that we take a family photo in a pumpkin patch. Love this one.

14. Family or Home

Thanksgiving Family Portrait RS
Another family photo…in case you weren’t sure what my family looked like from the previous photo.

15. Celebrate

Stained Glass Christening RS
This past weekend, Felicity was baptized. She was wearing a gown that was well over 100 years old…it was gorgeous. Here she is with her grandmother in front of a stained glass window in honor of my grandmother. Definitely cause for celebration.

16. Let’s Do It Again

IMG_3247 RS
This was the first year we’ve ever woken up at our house on Christmas morning. We decided several years ago that whenever we had children, we wanted to spend Christmas Day at home. It was really so nice to spend the day together as a family. We’ll definitely do that again!

17. I Miss You

Grandma 42112
I really miss my grandma. Both of my grandmothers died this year (all of my grandparents are deceased now). I was really close to my maternal grandmother though and I really wish she was here to spend time with her great granddaughter. That said, I know that she’s probably spent a lot more time than I realize with Felicity.

18. Beautiful

Tutu and Pearls RS
Yeah…I’m a bit partial.

19. Dress UP

Our Little Zebra RS
This year Felicity dressed up as a Zebra for Halloween. Granted, we didn’t go trick or treating, but you know this mama had to get a photo.

20. Macro

Butterflies RS
I’m not sure that this fully qualifies as macro, but I like it…so we’re going with it.

21. Holidays

Visit with Santa 2012 RS
We had so much time meeting Santa over brunch a few weeks ago. I know for fact that I was more excited than Felicity…and I’m even more excited about next year!

22. My Favorite

Glasses 1 RS
I absolutely love this shot.

23. Don’t Ever Change

Sleepy Smiles V2 RS
Felicity was only a couple months old when this shot was taken. I remember looking over at her sleeping and thinking to myself, “please stay little.” I know she won’t be little forever, but I hope she decides to stay close to her mama…just as long as she doesn’t plan to sleep with her mama forever.

24. Just Because

IMG_3287 RS
This photo goes out to our friend Beth who gave Felicity this fun mustache pacifier. I had a little photo session with it the other day. Felicity didn’t exactly want to suck on it, but she still looks pretty cute.

25. Hopes and Dreams

Bokeh Walk RS
I don’t even know where to start. Six months ago, I quit my old life and became a mother. I knew it would be a significant change, but I had no idea. Most days I am lucky if I take a shower and if you ask me if our daughter is “sleeping through the night,” I’ll be sure to tell you yes…but I probably won’t tell you that she is sleeping in our bed. My hopes and dreams are no longer for myself – my life is no longer mine (ha, it never was)…life continues to be about this precious little girl and I pray that God continues to lead me in the right direction.

The beauty of “Memories, Dreams and Reflections” is that you don’t really have to photograph anything new, but share photos you’ve taken all year long. Want to join us? Here’s how:

  • Grab the button above and feel free to share it on your blog.
  • Go through your 2012 archives and select photos that represent each prompt (or take a few new photos).
  • Feel free to write as much or as little about each prompt as you’d like.
  • Feel free to post more than one picture for each prompt if you think it’s necessary (I will likely only post one picture per prompt). If you don’t have a picture to represent the prompt, skip it…participate as much or as little as you’d like.
  • If you use any photos that are not your own, please provide a source.
  • Link up between now and January 20, 2013.
  • Have fun!

  • Now that you've linked up, here's next week's Scavenger Hunt Sunday list sponsored by Susan. Be sure to come back on Sunday and link up.
    1. Breakfast
