This past week, I met up with my dear friend, Courtney, for maternity photos at the
North Carolina Arboretum.
It was quite a treat to photograph Courtney. Not only have we been friends since our first year at Peace College, but she is also a
very talented photographer (she no lives in NC, but check out her portfolio).
In fact, I’ve admired her work since long before I ever thought about becoming a photographer myself. So, when she asked me to do her maternity photos, I nearly cried. Me? Photograph YOU? YES!!!
We decided to meet up at the NC Arboretum at sunset. I normally don’t have the luxury to meet my clients at sunset because of early bedtimes, so I was thrilled to work in such glorious light. I was also pretty excited to work with a model who would stand in place, unlike my toddler clients who run away from me. It didn’t hurt that my model was GORGEOUS.
Perfect model, perfect location, perfect light, perfect day. Oh, and one-on-one time with an old friend you haven’t seen in years. What more could a photographer want? I can’t really think of anything.
And it’s funny, I always tell my clients to give me a month to process their photos. It’s been a long time since it’s taken me a month to process photos since I’ve improved my work flow, but in the case of Courtney’s photos…I haven’t been able to take my eyes off them.
If only I could have had them processed and printed in time for her baby shower this weekend.
I also told Courtney that since her baby is due in October that she must find a photographer in the Boston area (where she’s living now) to photograph her full term…or just take a self portrait.
But seriously, Courtney makes pregnancy and maternity look glamorous. She’s already a beautiful woman, but wow – that glow is infectious and almost makes me want to get pregnant…almost.
With that said, congratulations Courtney. I love you dearly and I can’t wait to see your little boy. I know I won’t be able to meet him for some time, but I will be here in North Carolina drooling over the photos you take of him every day!
