Happy New Year! It’s that time again – Memories, Dreams and Reflections…2014. It’s been an incredible year for our family and I’m so excited to share a look back at our year. With God’s help, 2015 is going to be even better. Last year, I promised that I would reconnect with my blogging friends. While it did not happen in the way I imagined, I did manage to find a few of you on Facebook. Feel free to look me up there so I can see what you and your family is up to. I’d love to stay in touch even if I don’t manage to visit your blog on a regular basis. I’ve found great joy in being present with my family and enjoying the early years of Felicity’s childhood.
Anyways, I’ll get to the photos. I can’t wait to see what your year looked like so be sure to link up. Oh, and if you scroll all the way down, I’ve included the next Scavenger Hunt List.
1. Me!
I didn’t do as much self portrait work this year as I would have liked (maybe next year will be different), but I did take this shot for Daily Mom earlier in the year. I love some matching outfits.
2. I Love You
My dear friend, Michelle of St. John Photography, took this shot of me and Felicity. I do love this child so much!
3. Still Laughing
In August, Felicity started 2 year old preschool. The first 4-6 weeks were pretty brutal. I am not a fan of any approach that requires crying, but I guess it was necessary. She now LOVES going to school, but performance is not her thing. At Halloween, the class “performed” a couple of songs for the parents. She gave me grump face the entire time…and when it was over, she quickly ran to me and said “all done. go home.” At Christmas, it was a similar story. Not as much of a grump face but she was definitely glad to go home. I know I shouldn’t laugh, but it was kinda funny. I can only imagine what future dance recitals will look like. I’m laughing now just thinking about it.
4. Winter Wonderland
We had a lot of snow at the beginning of the year and I was ill-prepared. You better believe that I’m more prepared this year. We’ve got a snow suit, coat, gloves and boots ready to go! Watch 2015 be the year that we don’t get any snow. Anyways, my husband really loved taking Felicity out in the snow…and she loved it just as much.
5. Birthday
We celebrated Felicity’s 2nd birthday this year. As I like to do, we took her out a few days before her birthday to take a few photos (at least I think it was a few days before). This year, I thought balloons would be kinda cute. I really love this shot.
6. Friends
Felicity and Madeline are the best of friends (she’s also equally great friends with Declan and LoLo) and I’m fortunate to also be great friends with Michelle (Madeline’s mother)…which means a lot of beautiful photos – of which Michelle took both of these. I wonder how long this friendship will last.
7. I Was Inspired
Her name is escaping me right now, but I follow a girl on Facebook who has the cutest little girl with glasses. I saw these glasses and thought of her little girl. Something about this shot reminds me of that little girl…and I guess I was inspired.
8. Spring Fever
When I think of Spring, I also think of Easter. Again, Michelle took this photo, but it’s my absolute favorite of Felicity wearing this gorgeous dress. And since it’s a size 3, she’ll get to wear it again this year.
9. Travel or Vacation
We went back to Myrtle Beach again this year…and this year, I went with full intentions of capturing a beautiful beach portrait. Felicity would have preferred to run, but I managed to capture a few great shots with my husband’s help. I have this shot on canvas in our bedroom.
10. Summer Days
One of the things we most enjoyed about the summer was playing at the splash park. Felicity LOVES the water so she loved doing this.
11. A Day in My Life
One day this summer, we were visiting my mom at her shop when Felicity found this hat. She wouldn’t take it off. I love how she’s paired it with a princess pocket book. That’s my girl.
12. All Smiles
I told you that this girl loves the water. One day, I let her play in the sink for a long time. She had a blast!
13. Autumn Harvest
We went to Green Acres Farm this year to check out the giant corn maze. Felicity really enjoyed running through. I really wanted some good pumpkin patch shots, but I think I love this even more.
14. Family or Home
A couple of family shots for this prompt – the top: Felicity with Poppy and Lo Lo. On the bottom: PawPaw, MawMaw, Carter and Sissa. Felicity LOVES her family!.
15. Celebrate
It took me a minute to remember any causes worth celebrating this year. There were no weddings (and luckily, no funerals either), but we did celebrate some big birthdays. My husband’s entire extended family met up in September to celebrate Poppa’s 80 something birthday. I took this photo earlier in the year. It’s probably my favorite shot of him.

I’ll add this shot into this prompt as well…you know, celebrating the 4th of July?
16. Let’s Do It Again
I had to include two photos for this prompt too. On the top – another trip to the fair. Specifically, Felicity LOVES the Carousel. But we also went to the zoo this year and she loved that so much that we absolutely must go back there again in 2015.
17. I Miss You
I almost replayed the shot of my grandmother again, but decided to take a different spin on missing someone. I don’t have as many opportunities to hang out with my friends as I used to. I really miss them. For example, this is Beth. She has such an awesome personality and I remember taking this shot in 2013. We found this awesome wall in downtown Raleigh and she mentioned that she wanted her picture taken in front of it. It just screams joy! I must reconnect with this woman in 2015!
18. Beautiful
I have so many shots of Felicity that I love – and I certainly think that she is beautiful. This particular shot is symbolic of how things are changing for Felicity. She’s such a sponge right now
and has become my mini-me. In the morning, she wants to do her makeup just like mommy. It reminds me that I need to be more aware of what I say about myself. I’m pretty good about not picking myself apart in terms of weight or whatever, but I still need to make sure I’m being a good role model for her. Here she is checking out all the bows in her hair. Interestingly enough, she won’t wear a bow for very long these days which is super annoying!
19. Dress Up
I bought a Raggedy Ann costume in 2013 that I hoped Felicity would wear that year and it was entirely too big. This year, she could wear it and it was absolutely everything I imagined it would be. Here she is waiting for Declan to come over so they can go trick or treating together.
20. Macro
Once again, I didn’t do much in the way of macro photography this past year, but I did manage to capture this snowflake. I now have a 100 mm L lens that I will be pulling out for a little more macro this year.
21. Holidays
Interestingly enough, I don’t take a ton of pictures over the holidays. After portrait season, I just want to rest. Well, these are two shots that I can’t imagine not taking. Love them.
22. My Favorite
Another shot that I had to have printed on canvas…the family cabin. This cabin has so much history behind it and I’ve been trying to appropriately capture it forever. I converted this one into a painting and it turned out beautifully.
23. Don’t Ever Change
Felicity’s personality has come alive this past year. She loves to sing and dance (in private). She loves princesses…and trains. She loves to laugh and run, but will cry in a heartbeat. And she loves her family members. Not a day goes by that she doesn’t ask about every single one of them. She’s so caring and honest and just everything I hope she becomes. I love you Felicity.
24. Just Because
This is another shot taken for Daily Mom…this time wearing an outfit by Lolly Wolly Doodle. My husband actually helped me on this one.
25. Hopes and Dreams
2014 was about establishing routines. 2015 is going to be about expanding my business and living more joyfully. I will actually be starting the
Journal of Intentional Living (as soon as it arrives) and I’m looking forward to spending more time in prayer this coming year.
The beauty of “Memories, Dreams and Reflections” is that you don’t really have to photograph anything new, but share photos you’ve taken all year long. Want to join us? Here’s how:
- Grab the button above and feel free to share it on your blog.
- Go through your 2014 archives and select photos that represent each prompt (or take a few new photos).
- Feel free to write as much or as little about each prompt as you’d like.
- Feel free to post more than one picture for each prompt if you think it’s necessary. If you don’t have a picture to represent the prompt, skip it…participate as much or as little as you’d like.
- If you use any photos that are not your own, please provide a source.
- Link up between now and January 25, 2015.
- Have fun!
